ALKYLBENZENESULPHONIC ACID
DESCRIPTION
Synonyms:  Alkylbenzenesulfonic acid (ABSA, ABSFK, LABSA, LAS, linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid, Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid, Dodecylbenzene Sulfonic Acid).

Chemical formula:  CH 3 (CH 2 ) nC 6 H 4 -O-SO 3 H; n = 11.13

Form of issue and appearance
Viscous liquid, from brown to black color with a pungent pungent odor. The content of the main substance for grade A is 96% of the mass.

Production
ABSA is produced by continuous film sulfonation with gaseous sulfur trioxide of the corresponding monoalkylbenzenes. Alkylbenzenes are prepared by preliminary alkylation of benzene with linear mono-olefins, predominantly of the C12-C14 series. In the CIS countries it is produced according to TU 2484-036-04669375-96 and has three grades: A - 96%, B - 90%, C - 80%. Imported ABSK, as a rule, corresponds to the parameters of grade A.

Properties
Miscible with water, has good foaming and detergent properties even in hard water; detergency is most pronounced for ABSA and derivatives of salts with a radical length of C12. Imported LABSA can contain up to 1.5% free sulfuric acid (up to 2% for Russian grade A).

Main areas and methods of application
LABSA neutralization products (alkylbenzenesulfonates) are used as surfactants in detergents and ore flotation compositions. Neutralization is usually carried out with caustic soda to obtain sulfonol, triethanolamine or aqueous ammonia. In its pure form it is used as a foaming agent in the production of Penoizol; for the production of pesticide emulsions; as a dispersant in the production of film materials, artificial leather. Highly biodegradable.

Packaging:  LABSA / ABSK is supplied in polyethylene containers with a volume of 200, 220 or 1000 liters, as well as in other containers as agreed with the consumer. Safety rules and storage The product should be stored in dry ventilated areas, avoiding direct sunlight.
