Barium stearate is a high ash, free flowing, non-caking, powder product primarily used as a die lubricant in wire drawing applications or combined with  additional soaps (i.e. zinc, etc.) for PVC heat stabilizer additive application.
Barium stearate is used as a drying lubricant, coating agent, and flatting and sanding agent.
Barium Stearate (Ba(C18H35O2)2) is primarily used as a heat stabilizer and lubricant for PVC products.

Barium stearate is also used as a flatting and sanding agent in lacquers, coatings and inks.
Barium stearate is a fine white powder, produced from a high quality, tallow derived fatty acid for multiple applications.

Acts as a co-stabilizer in conjunction with other metal soaps in PVC stabilization, and as as a lubricant and release agent for PVC and other polymers.
Offers good handling and feeding characteristics owing to its uniform particle size.
Contributes to good early color in PVC stabilizer applications.

Provides very good dispersion properties in blending, compounding, and extrusion equipment.
Exhibits consistent chemical and physical properties.
Used mainly for PVC.

A physical, white, crystalline, water-insoluble solid d, Ba(C 18 H 35 O 2 ) 2, is mainly used as a waterproofing agent and lubricant.
PVC Compounds, Rigid PVC Pipes and Cables, PVC Profiles and Floor Coverings, PVC Shoes, Master Batches.

Barium stearate is a heat stabilizer and lubricant for the transparent PVC Compound.
Barium stearate is often used in conjunction with the other stabilizers Cadmium Stearate and Lead Stearate.

A combination of Barium, Zinc and Barium stearate can be used as a stabilizer in food grade PVC processing.
Because of its high melting point, Barium stearate is used for high speed calendering.
Barium stearate is used as a smoothing and abrasive agent in varnishes, coatings and inks.

Barium stearate is also used as drying oils and dusting agents for rubbers.
Metallic salts of fatty acids (called soap) are used as cleaning agents (mainly sodium- and potassium-), whose molecules readily adhere to both polar molecules (from water) and non-polar molecules (from grease or oil).
Long hydrocarbon chains are non-polar (and hydrophobic) repelled by water, and salt-end molecules are soluble in ionic (and hydrophilic) water.

Barium stearates differ in the type of fatty acid, the length of the carbon chain and the alkali used.
Longer chain fatty acids are insoluble.
If sodium hydroxide is used as an alkali, hard soaps are formed; potassium hydroxide yields mild soaps.

Soap salts are used as insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and algaecides.
The lipophilic carbon chains infiltrate and destroy the lipoprotein matrix of the insect's cell membranes.
Food grade soap salts are also used as general purpose food additives.

In soaps to be used in industry, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, lead, zinc or other metals are used instead of sodium or potassium.
Barium stearates of fatty acids are used as stabilizers and plasticizers in the plastics industry as well as in cosmetics.

White or slightly yellow powder, stimulates the central nervous system, soluble in hot ethanol, benzene, toluene and other non-polar solvents, insoluble in water and ethanol.

Gelatinous when heated and dissolved in an organic solvent and cooled; has water absorption in the air.
No sulfide pollution.
When meet with strong acids, it decomposes into stearic acids and corresponding barium salts.

USES OF BARIUM STEARATE:

used as a lubricant in manufacturing plastics and rubbers, in greases, and in plastics as a stabilizer against deterioration caused by heat and light.
A white, crystalline, water-insoluble solid, Ba(C 18 H 35 O 2 ) 2 , used chiefly as a waterproofing agent and as a lubricant.
