Auxiliaries

There are four different kinds of MCTs [*]:

Caproic acid (C6)
Caprylic acid (C8)
Capric acid (C10)
Lauric acid (C12)
Caproic Acid (C6) is an oily liquid at room temperature [*] and boosts the production of blood ketones. It’s found in animal fats and several plants.
It is slightly soluble in water and has an unpleasant odor [*].

Caprylic Acid (C8) has been shown to increase energy, boost ketone production, and facilitate weight loss. It possesses cancer-fighting and antimicrobial properties.

Capric Acid (C10) has many of the same properties of caprylic acid (C8) (e.g., boosts ketones, is antimicrobial, and can help reduce body fat [*], but generally takes a bit longer for the body to process into ketones [*].

Lauric Acid (C12) is a major component of coconut oil. Like C8 and C10, lauric acid also possesses antimicrobial properties [*]. But because it’s a bigger molecule (more carbon atoms connected together), it takes even longer to break down and therefore isn’t optimal for ketone production.

Fatty acids have different chemical structures.
They consist of a carboxyl group (-COOH) and a hydrocarbon chain of varying length, but almost exclusively unbranched.
The name fatty acid is due, among other things, to the chemical properties of the substance group, which reacts acidically due to its carboxyl group.

Fractionated Fatty Acids
During fractionation, fatty acids are physically separated into fractions with different boiling points.
They then differ in the length of their hydrocarbon chain.
This produces high-purity fatty acids with specific properties, which can be used in a variety of applications, such as cling film, creams and shaving foam, or for the production of vegetable fatty acid esters.

Caprylic / capric triglyceride is an oily liquid made from palm kernel or coconut oil.
It is a mixed ester composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids attached to a glycerin backbone.
Caprylic/capric triglycerides are sometimes erroneously referred to as fractionated coconut oil, which is similar in composition but typically refers to coconut oil that has had its longer chain triglycerides removed.
Chemically speaking, fats and oils are made up mostly of  triglycerides whose fatty acids are chains ranging from 6–12 carbon atoms, in this case the ester is comprised of capric (10 carbon atoms) and caprylic (8 carbon atoms).
What does it do?
Caprylic/capric triglyceride creates a barrier on the skin's surface, which helps to reduce skin dryness by decreasing the loss of moisture.
Its oily texture helps to thicken and provides a slipperiness, which helps make our lotions and natural strength deodorants easy to apply and leaves a non-greasy after-touch.

Caprylic/capric triglycerides are naturally occurring in coconut and palm kernel  oils at lower levels but to make this pure ingredient, the oils are split and the specific fatty acid (capric acid and caprylic acid are isolated and recombined with the glycerin backbone to form the pure capric/caprylic triglyceride which is then further purified (bleached and deodorized) using clay, heat and steam.
No other additives or processing aids are used.
