A shampoo composition free from sulfated or sulfonated detergents is disclosed. 
The composition comprises: from about 3% to about 11% alkylamido betaine; from about 3% to about 10% alkanolamide; and from about 5% to about 60% sarcosinate. 
Shampoo compositions with the above formulation are mild, pH balanced and exhibit good foaming and cleansing properties. 
These compositions are also useful for liquid hand soaps, shower and bath gels, and the like.
