CYCLOHEXANAMINE

CAS Number: 108-91-8
EC Number: 203-629-0
Chemical Formula: C6H13N
Molar Mass: 99.17

Cyclohexanamine is an organic compound, belonging to the aliphatic amine class.
Cyclohexanamine is a colorless liquid, although, like many amines, samples are often colored due to contaminants.

Cyclohexanamine has a fishy odor and is miscible with water.
Like other amines, Cyclohexanamine is a weak base, compared to strong bases such as NaOH, but Cyclohexanamine is a stronger base than its aromatic analog, aniline.
Cyclohexanamine is a useful intermediate in the production of many other organic compounds.

Cyclohexanamine is a food contaminant arising from Cyclohexanamine use as a boiler water additive Cyclohexylamine, also called hexahydroaniline, 1-aminocyclohexane, or aminohexahydrobenzene, is an organic chemical, an amine derived from cyclohexane.
Cyclohexanamine is a clear to yellowish liquid with fishy odor, with melting point of 17.7 ¬∞C and boiling point 134.5 ¬∞C, miscible with water.

Like other amines, Cyclohexanamine is of mildly alkaline nature, compared to strong bases such as NaOH, but Cyclohexanamine is a stronger base than Cyclohexanamine aromatic sister compound aniline, which differs only in that Cyclohexanamine ring is aromatic.
Cyclohexanamine is flammable, with flash point at 28.6 ¬∞C.

Explosive mixtures of Cyclohexanamine with air can be formed above 26 ¬∞C.
Cyclohexanamine is toxic by both ingestion and inhalation.

The inhalation itself may be fatal.
Cyclohexanamine readily absorbs through skin, which Cyclohexanamine irritates.

Cyclohexanamine is corrosive.
Cyclohexanamine is listed as an extremely hazardous substance as defined by Section 302 of the U.S. Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act
A primary aliphatic amine consisting of Cyclohexanamine carrying an amino substituent.

Cyclohexanamine is registered under the REACH Regulation and is manufactured in and / or imported to the European Economic Area, at ≥ 1 000 to < 10 000 tonnes per annum.
Cyclohexanamine is used by consumers, in articles, by professional workers (widespread uses), in formulation or re-packing, at industrial sites and in manufacturing.
