Clariant Emulsogen 4084 is a non-ionic, APEO-free, low VOC (less than 1%) ethylene oxide (EO) -propylene oxide (PO) block copolymer with an ABA structure consisting of 60% by weight of ethylene oxide units. The A block is hydrophilic and the centered B block is hydrophobic. Acts as an emulsifier. Has low foaming and offers good wetting and dispersing properties. It stabilizes the rheological behavior of polymer dispersions and improves electrolyte and shear stability. Resists water, hardness salts, acids and alkalis at concentrations normally used. This pale yellow wax should be melted at 60 ° C and added in parts to hot water (95 ° C) with stirring until the solution becomes clear. At 25 ° C, it forms a clear aqueous solution at a concentration of 25% or less. More concentrated aqueous solutions of Emulsogen 4084 become waxy at room temperature. Emulsogen 4084 can be used in combination with other nonionic, anionic and cationic surfactants. Used in the emulsion polymerization of polyvinyl acetate, acrylate and styrene / acrylate dispersions.
