NIPACIDE IPBC 20

Nipacide IPBC 20 is a low toxicity biocide specifically developed for the complete microbiological protection of water based and solvent based products against algal and fungal spoilage in the dry and wet state.
Nipacide IPBC 20 is a glycol based liquid.

Nipacide IPBC 20 is described chemically as a concentrate of 3-iodo-2-propynylbutylcarbamate.
Nipacide IPBC 20 is recommended for a wide range of applications including adhesives, polymer emulsions, MWF and paint where protection against fungi and algae is required in the wet state and dry state.

3-iodo-2-propynylbutylcarbamate.
Low toxicity biocide.
Effective against bacteria, fungi and yeast.
Specifically developed for the complete microbiological protection of water based products against bacterial and fungal spoilage in the wet state.

Nipacide IPBC 20 is a clear glycolic fungicide, Nipacide IPBC 20 has been developed for fungal dry film protection of water based coatings.
Nipacide IPBC can also be used for wet state, in-can fungal protection.
Nipacide IPBC 20 is effective against a wide range of fungal and yeast species and exhibits some activity against gram negative and gram positive bacteria.

Dry –film degradation in paints and decorative coatings can be avoided by using the correct dry-film fungicides at the most cost effective use level.
Ideal dry-film properties achieved by Nipacide IPBC 20 include:

High activity against a broad range of fungi and algae
Excellent activity at relatively low use concentrations
Carbendazim free
pH stable
UV stable
Low water solubility
Approved under the Biocidal Products Directive
Cost effective protection

Applications of Nipacide IPBC 20:
Nipacide IPBC 20 is recommended for protection of a wide range of coating applications including water based decorative paints, wood stains and colours.
Nipacide IPBC 20 can also be used in solvent based applications.

Increased antifungal activity can also be achieved by using Nipacide IPBC 20 for in-can use in adhesives grouts and sealants.
Nipacide IPBC 20 is effective against a wide range of spoilage organisms and effective over a wide pH range.
Nipacide IPBC 20 should not be used in products heated above 400 C.

Use level of Nipacide IPBC 20:
Nipacide IPBC 20 should be evaluated in finished products at levels between 0.50% and 2.0% for dry film applications.

The level of protection will depend on many factors including the end destination of coating, relative humidity, sun strength and others and can be determined by evaluation by our team of microbiologists at the Microbiology facility.
For in-can antifungal activity Nipacide IPBC 20 should be evaluated between 0.10% and 0.30%.

Microbiological data of Nipacide IPBC 20:
Even though Nipacide IPBC 20 is designed for dry-film applications it also exhibits activity against a wide range of bacteria and yeast.
This can be demonstrated by the following MIC data.

Organism - MIC (ppm)
