Nonyl alcohol is mainly used in man-made rose essence, plasticizer, surfactant. 

Nonyl alcohol was used as a reference material in the determination of airborne spore levels. 
Nonyl alcohol inhibited the bacterial luciferase (BL) reaction in a dose-dependent manner.
