WHAT IS NONYL PHENOL

Nonyl phenols are a family of closely related organic compounds composed of 9 carbon tail bearing phenol. Nonyl phenols can have multiple structures, all of which can be considered as alkylphenols. They are used in the production of antioxidants, lubricating oil additives, laundry and dishwashing detergents, emulsifiers and solubilizers. These compounds are also commercially important nonionic surfactants used in detergents, dyes, pesticides, and precursors to alkyl phenol ethoxylates and nonyl phenol ethoxylates. Personal care products and plastics. Nonyl phenol has gained attention because of its prevalence in the environment and its potential role as an endocrine disruptor and xenoestrogen due to its ability to act with estrogen-like activity. Estrogenicity and biodegradation are largely due to branching of the nonyl side chain. Nonyl phenols fall under the general chemical category of alkyl phenols. The structure of NPs can vary. The nonyl group can be attached to the phenol ring at various positions, usually 4 and to a lesser extent 2 positions, and can be branched or linear. A branched nonylphenol, 4-nonylphenol, is the most widely produced and marketed nonyl phenol. The mixture of nonyl phenol isomers is a pale yellow liquid although pure compounds are colorless. Nonyl phenols are moderately soluble in water but soluble in alcohol. Nonyl phenol is caused by environmental degradation of nonyl phenol ethoxylates, which are metabolites of commercial detergents called alkyl phenol ethoxylates. NPEs are a clear to light orange liquid. Nonyl phenol ethoxylates are nonionic in water, meaning they have no charge. Because of these properties, they are used as detergents, cleansers, emulsifiers and various other applications. They are amphipathic, that is, they have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties that allow them to isolate them from water and surrounding non-polar substances such as oil. Nonyl phenol can be produced industrially, naturally and by environmental degradation of alkylphenol ethoxylates. Industrially, nonyl phenols are produced by acid-catalyzed alkylation with a mixture containing a phenol nonene. This synthesis results in a very complex mixture with various nonyl phenols. There are theoretically 211 structural isomers, and if we take into account the enantiomers, that number increases to 550 isomers. To make NPE, manufacturers treat NP with ethylene oxide under basic conditions. Since its discovery in 1940, nonyl phenol production has increased exponentially, and between 100 and 500 million pounds of nonylphenol are produced each year worldwide, meeting the definition of High Production Volume Chemicals. Nonyl phenols are also produced naturally in the environment. An organism, velvet worm, produces nonyl phenol as a component of defense slime. Nonyl phenol covers the ejection channel of the slime and prevents it from adhering to the organism when secreted. It also prolongs the drying process long enough for the slime to reach its goal. Another surfactant called nonoxynol, once used as an intravaginal spermicide and condom lubricant, was found to be metabolized to free nonyl phenol when administered to laboratory animals. Nonyl phenol is used in the production of antioxidants, lubricating oil additives, laundry and dishwashing detergents, emulsifiers and solubilizers. It is also a tris (4-nonyl-phenyl) phosphite (TNPP) which can be used for antioxidant polymers used to protect rubber, vinyl polymers, polyolefins, and polystyrenics as well as being a stabilizer in plastic food packaging. Barium and calcium salts of nonyl phenol are also used as heat stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Nonyl phenol is also often used as an intermediate in the production of non-ionic surfactants nonyl phenol ethoxylates used in detergents, dyes, pesticides, personal care products and plastics. Nonyl phenol and nonyl phenol ethoxylates are used only as components of household detergents outside of Europe. Nonyl Phenol is used in many epoxy formulations, mainly in North America.

Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) has gained attention due to its prevalence in the environment and its potential role as an endocrine disruptor and xenoestrogen due to its ability to act with estrogen-like activity. Estrogenicity and biodegradation are largely due to branching of the nonyl side chain. Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) has been found to act as an agonist of GPER Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) s fall under the general chemical category of alkylphenols . The structure of NPs can vary. The nonyl group can be attached to the phenol ring at various positions, usually 4 and to a lesser extent 2 positions, and can be branched or linear. A branched Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO), 4-Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO), the most widely produced and marketed Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO). Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) is caused by environmental degradation of nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) ethoxylates, which are metabolites of commercial detergents called alkylphenol ethoxylates. NPEs are a clear to light orange liquid. Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) ethoxylates are nonionic in water, meaning they have no charge. Because of these properties, they are used as detergents, cleansers, emulsifiers and various other applications. They are amphipathic, that is, they have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties that allow them to isolate them from water and surrounding non-polar substances such as oil. Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) can be produced industrially, naturally and by environmental degradation of alkylphenol ethoxylates. Industrially, Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) are produced by acid-catalyzed alkylation with a mixture containing a phenol nonene. This synthesis results in a very complex mixture with various Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO). There are theoretically 211 structural isomers, and if we take into account the enantiomers this number increases to 550 isomers. Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) E's is a clear to light orange liquid. Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) ethoxylates are non-ionic in water; that is, they have no load. Because of these properties, detergent; cleaner; They are used as emulsifiers and various other applications. These are amphipathic and have both; namely hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties that allow water to isolate them from surrounding oil and non-polar substances such as oil. Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) s; falls under the general chemical category of alkylphenols. The structure of nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO) can change. Nonyl group; to the phenol ring at various positions; It can generally be attached to 4- and to a lesser extent 2-positions and can be branched or linear. A branched Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO); 4-Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO); The most widely produced and marketed is Nonylphenol 8 (NP 8, NP-8, Nonylphenol-8, Nonylphenol 8 EO).
