Moreover, Tergitol XD is used for iodophors, emulsion polymerization, paints & coatings.

Tergitol XD provides freeze thaw stability and steric stabilization in emulsions & dispersions.

TERGITOL™ XD surfactant is widely used as an emulsifier or dispersing aid for
agricultural insecticides and herbicides.
In such applications, TERGITOL XD is often a component in a non-aqueous solution of active ingredients.
Tergitol XD  serves to emulsify the actives upon dilution with water.

Tergitol XD is also suitable for use as an emulsifier during latex polymerizations, where it sometimes functions as a dispersing agent, preventing the latex particles from coalescing and settling out of solution.

Tergitol XD is a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.

Tergitol XD is used as a thinner, coolant, and lubricant for diamond polishing compounds.

DESCRIPTION


Tergitol XD surfactant is an outstanding nonionic emulsifier and/or dispersing
aid for agricultural concentrates and latex polymerizations.
More to that, Tergitol XD is also widely used in the manufacture of iodophors for germicidal cleaners.

Features of Tergitol XD:

Excellent steric and freeze/thaw stabilizer
Effective pigment & carbon black dispersant
Excellent for aromatic, chlorinated & other difficult to emulsify compounds
Good solubility in the presence of salts or electrolytes

Tergitol XD is soluble in water.
Further, Tergitol XD is soluble in chlorinated & many polar organic solvents.

Tergitol XD is chemically stable in acidic & alkaline solutions.

Tergitol XD is compatible with anionic, cationic and other nonionic surfactants.
Moreover, Tergitol XD has good lubricity under load.
Tergitol XD is noncorrosive to metals.

Tergitol XD has very low ash content, low pour point, and excellent thermal stability.

Tergitol XD is used as:

Textile lubricants
A base-stock in textile
Lubricants:
Tergitol XD can lubricate polyester, polyamide, and polypropylene multifilament yarns, especially in texturizing operations.
Also, Tergitol XD can be used on woolens and cellulosics.

Metalworking fluids:
Tergitol XD has the inverse water solubility, good heat transfer properties and inherent lubricity characteristics.
These features of Tergitol XD results in a perfect choice as a base to produce metal working fluids from aqueous solutions.

Rubber lubricants of rubber hoses and tires, especially in high operating temperatures or in high loading environments.
Polyethylene extrusion aid in the production of extruded polyethylene.
Mold release agents of rubber hoses and tires, especially in high operating temperatures or in high loading environments.

Compressor lubricant when working with non-oxidizing gases such as ethylene, neon, helium, and argon.
Tergitol XD offer the advantage of being biodegradable in neat products and are more soluble in cold water than in hot water, if inverse water solubility is required.

An aqueous solution of Tergitol XD will have a low surface tension.
Thus, Tergitol XD has good wetting and penetration characteristics, while also exhibiting low foaming characteristics.

In high temperature applications where decomposition can occur, Tergitol XD typically do not leave black carbon or sticky residues.
The decomposition products are volatile or are solubilized into the base-stock.
Oxidation stability of Tergitol XD can be improved by the inclusion of anti-oxidants.

Tergitol XD should be sealed and stored in a cool and dry place.
Moreover, Tergitol XD should be protected from oxides.

It should be ensured that the workshop is well ventilated or equipped with exhaust devices.
