TRIPROPYLENE GLYCOL METHYL ETHER

TRIPROPYLENE GLYCOL METHYL ETHER

EC no:247-045-4
CAS no:25498-49-1

Molecular Weight: 206.28
Molecular Formula: C10H22O4

IUPAC Name: 2-[2-(2-methoxypropoxy)propoxy]propan-1-ol

Tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether (TPM) dissolves liquid resin, making it effective for washing parts printed on Formlabs SLA printers.

Depending on your use case and work environment, TPM may be a viable alternative to isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for washing parts using the Form Wash, the Form Wash L or the Finish Kit.

Tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether is a low-volatility, non-flammable, colorless, clear liquid with an ether odor and an oily feel.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether can be washed off surfaces with water and soap.

TPM is typically supplied as a mixture of isomers.
Tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether is known by different names depending on location and distributor:

-Methyltripropylene glycol
-Tripropylene glycol methyl ether

Tri(propylene glycol) methyl ether can be used:
-As a solvent in resins, coatings, dyes for textiles, leather, and cosmetics.
-As a fuel additive for minimizing the particulate matter emission.
-To prepare water-mimicking non-aqueous ionic liquids for enzyme compatibility in the trans-esterification process.

Tri Propylene Glycol Methyl Ether (TPM) is a colorless liquid with an ether odor.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether evaporates slowly and is hydrophilic (mixes well with water).
TPM is a propylene oxide-based, or P-series, glycol ether that is manufactured as a mixture of eight isomers.

Substance name:[2-(2-methoxymethylethoxy)methylethoxy]propanol
Trade name:Tripropyleneglycol Methylether

Colorless liquid with a mild odor.

TPM glycol ether is a hydrophilic, slow-evaporating glycol ether with an excellent active solvency and coupling power.
TPM glycol ether is an ideal choice when high polymer solvency and extended system residence time are required.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether can maintain rheological properties over time in products such as stamp pads and ball point pen inks.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether's high boiling and flash points make it an excellent choice for use in oven cleaners, and as a tailing solvent in high-solids, solvent-based coatings.

Applications
• Solvent for stamp pad inks and ballpoint and felt tip writing pen inks.
• Coupling agent and solvent in rust, paint, and varnish removers, hard surface cleaners, and penetrating oils.
• Mutual solvent, coupling agent, and emollient in cosmetic formulations.
• Stabilizer for agricultural herbicides.

Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether / Methyl Ethoxy Propanol / TPG Methyl Ether has a very low vapor pressure and may not be considered a VOC under some circumstances of use.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether / Methyl Ethoxy Propanol / TPG Methyl Ether is a good substitute for slow evaporating ethylene glycol ethers.
Benefits and Applications Coatings Propylene Glycol Normal Butyl Ether / Normal Butoxy Propanol can be used as a coalescent with various resins including acrylics, styrene-acrylics, and polyvinylacetates.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether has superior film forming characteristics.
Cleaners Propylene Glycol Normal Butyl Ether / Normal Butoxy Propanol has a moderate odor, good coupling ability, and good surface tension lowering in water-based cleaners.
Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether is compatible with a wide range of cleaning components.
Propylene Glycol Normal Butyl Ether / Normal Butoxy Propanol is also partially water soluble and the water solubility can be increased by adding low molecular weight alcohols or other propylene glycol ethers.
