Production: 12-Hydroxystearic Acid (or 12-HSA) is a castor oil derivative and is obtained by hydrogenating castor oil followed by saponification of the finished product and acid decomposition. India is the world leader in the production of 12-hydroxystearic acid.
Application: production of plastic products, lubricants, cosmetics and perfumery, paint and varnish production, production of packaging materials, industrial rubber goods. Used in polishing compounds, printing inks, hot melt adhesives.
