Silica-based matting powder is easy to disperse and can be added at any stage of the production process, dispersed alone or together with pigments and other additives. 
Use a high-speed disperser to disperse, first add an appropriate amount of matting powder to the coating, start slow stirring, then increase to an appropriate speed (line speed is 10-20m/s, depending on the viscosity of the system), and stir for 10-20 minutes to obtain Uniform dispersed phase without coarse particles. 
Silica cannot be ground, otherwise it will affect its extinction efficiency. 
Other conditions remain unchanged, as the amount of matting powder increases, the matting (matt) matting will increase. Experiments show that in the acid-cured coating system, adding 6% TS 100, the coating 60°-reflected light value reaches 20.

Easy way to understand fumed silica
The most common form of silica in nature is mineral quartz. The chemical formula is SiO2. When the silica heated in a frame at high temperature, it will be vaporized and then condenses, forming tiny particles of amorphous(non-crystalline) silica. 
After agglomeration and deacidification, the smoke-like powder formed, That is fumed silica.

In general, fumed silica is:
Synthetic. ACEMATT TS 100 does not exist in nature, only produced by human beans.
Pyrogenic. ACEMATT TS 100 produced in a flame, very high temperature.
Amorphous. ACEMATT TS 100 is non-crystalline silica, without a clearly defined shape or form.
Nanoparticles. The particle of ACEMATT TS 100 size is around 7 to 40 nm.

Hydrophilic Fumed Silica
Hydrophilic fumed silica is a nanomaterial with strong hygroscopicity(absorbing moisture). 
This fluffy white powder is based on high purity amorphous silica. 
It is can be wetted by water, and dispersed in water forming a suspension.

When it firstly produced from the oxyhydrogen flame, the moisture content is very low. 
Take XYSIL200 for example, it is around 0.48 wt%. 
If exposed to air for about 30 seconds to 180 seconds, this number will be double or even tripled.

Thixotropy of Fumed Silica
