ADDOVATE 3240

Addovate 3240 is polyglycol ester.
Addovate 3240 acts as a specialty emulsifier for the urea catalysis used to obtain low odor polyurethane polyester slabstock foam.

Since Addovate 3240 is only partially miscible with water, it is recommended to add it separately.
Dosage should be between 1.0 and 2.5 pbw Addovate 3240 to 100 pbw polyester polyol.
Addovate 3240 has a shelf life of 12 months.

Applications of Addovate 3240:
Low odor PUR ester flexible slabstock foam:
In the production of low odor PUR ester flexible slabstock foam Addovate 3240 is usually used as an emulsifier in combination with Addovate 3240 and silicon stabilizers.
With above mentioned combination an especially open-celled foam can be produced.

Since Addovate 3240 is only partially miscible with water a separate addition of Addovate 3240 is advisable.
The recommended dosage is between 1.0 and 2.5 pphp.

Packaging of Addovate 3240:
Plastic drum, contents 120 kg.

Storage conditions of Addovate 3240:
Addovate 3240 is to be stored in a cool and dry place.
When Addovate 3240 is stored in firmly closed original containers at 10 to 30 °C, a shelf-life of 12 months from manufacturing date can be expected.

If stored at lower temperatures the product may thicken, become cloudy or solidify at the pour point.
This process can be reversed by storing the product, e. g. for 2 weeks at room temperature or liquify it for a short time at max. 50 °C in a heating oven.

The contents have to be thoroughly homogenized before use.
The containers should be resealed tightly after use to prevent contamination by impurities and exposure to moisture.

Handling of Addovate 3240:
Consult the safety data sheet for relevant safety data & references as well as possibly necessary warning labels.

Product information Polyester flexible slabstock foam for "textile" application:
Addovate 3240 is normally used in combination with Addovate TX for the production of polyester flexible slabstock foam.
Addovate 3240 is used as an emulsifier for water, catalyst (e.g. Addocat 101, Addocat PV, Addocat 117) and the polyester polyol.

Addovate 3240 also improves the open-cell structure of  foams.
The amount which should be used is between 1.0 and 4.0 parts by weight Addovate 3240 to 100 parts by weight polyester polyol.
The following sequence has proven effective for adding the individual components when manufacturing the catalyst compound: Water, catalyst, Addovate 3240, Addovate TX, so a clear, homogeneous mixture is produced.

"Low odour" polyester flexible slabstock foam:
For the production of "low odour" polyester flexible foam is used as emulsifier/stabilizer Addovate 3240 in combination with Addovate 3240 and small amounts of silicone stabilizers. Guide formulations may be provided upon request.

WARNING
When mixing with other emulsifiers or additives, Addovate 3240 is advisable to carry out laboratory tests for compatibility, as incompatibilities may cause defects in the cellular structure.
