Product information of Addove SM optimized:
Addove SM optimized is used as a crosslinking agent in the production of cellular elastomers based on polyester and NDI by hot casting.
To improve dispensing characteristics, a crosslinker-mixture containing approx. 10 p.b.w. polyesterpolyol (OH-value 60), approx. 2.0 p.b.w. Addovate SM, approx. 0.2 p.b.w. Addovate DD 1092 and as catalyst Addocat PP, should be manufactured.
Polyester flexible slabstock foam:
Addove SM optimized is used in an aqueous catalyst compound in conjunction with Addocat DB, Addovate WM and paraffin oil.
As an emulsifier, Addove SM optimized works in the same way as Addovate WM and improves the dispersion characteristics of the individual catalyst and reactant components in the mixing chamber.
Addove SM optimized primarily keeps the crosslinking reaction under control.
Addove SM optimized also has a stabilizing effect during the foaming phase.
Guide values for the individual densities are summarized in the table below.
The quantities are given in parts by weight in relation to parts by weight of polyester polyol (OH value approx. 60 mg KOH/g):

Too little Addove SM optimized makes the crosslinking reaction slower than the gas reaction, which may lead to split formation.
If too much Addove SM optimized is used, closed-cell or shrinking foams are obtained.
The water content of Addove SM optimized should be taken into account in the recipe.

Storage stability of Addove SM optimized:
Addove SM optimized has a shelf life of 6 months if stored in airtight containers at a temperature of 10 - 20 °C (optimal storage temperat ure).
Storing Addove SM optimized for long periods at a temperature greater than 20 °C may increase the acid value.
Addove SM optimized may thicken, solidify or become cloudy if exposed to cold temperatures.
This process can be reversed by heating the product e.g. for 2 weeks at room temperature.
The contents have to be thoroughly homogenized before use.
