AEROTEX NMA

CAS Number :  924-42-5
EC  Number : 213-103-2
Molecular Formula :  C4H7NO2
Molecular Weight  :  101.10

AEROTEX NMA  is N-methylolacrylamide based monomer.
AEROTEX NMA  is specifically designed to provide effective self-crosslinking performance together with a significant reduction in both the formaldehyde present in the resulting emulsion polymer and the formaldehyde released to the environment upon curing.
Its bifunctional feature results in latex binders which provide important performance properties to the final product such as solvent resistance, wet- and tear strength.
AEROTEX NMA  is used as binders in papermaking, textiles & non-wovens to a variety of surface coatings and resins for varnishes, films and sizing agents.
The shelf life of this product is 240 days.

AEROTEX NMA, offered as a 48% aqueous solution, is a bifunctional monomer possessing both vinyl and hydroxymethyl groups.
Thermoplastic polymers can be formed through the copolymerization of AEROTEX NMA with a variety of vinyl monomers via emulsion, solution, or suspension techniques.
The resulting products, having pendant hydroxymethyl groups, are self-crosslinkable under moderate conditions.
This mechanism permits the conversion of thermoplastic backbone polymers to thermoset materials at the point of use without the need for an external crosslinker.
Conversely, the hydroxymethyl group can first be reacted with a substrate like cellulose and subsequently cross-linked by free radical polymerization.

APPLICATION AREAS of AEROTEX NMA
The applications of AEROTEX NMA range from adhesives and binders in papermaking, textiles, and non-wovens to a variety of surface coatings and resins for varnishes, films and sizing agents.

STABILITY AND STORAGE of AEROTEX NMA
AEROTEX NMA is highly reactive, thus, it is essential that precautions be taken to maintain stability during shipping and storage.
The stability of the solution is dependent mainly upon oxygen level, contaminants, storage temperature, and pH.
AEROTEX NMA has a shelf life of 270 days from the date of manufacture and should be stored in a cool place where the temperature range is between 0°C and 29°C.
The expiration date may be extended and COA updated after QC testing of retained samples, only for material in allnex possession.

AEROTEX NMA is specifically designed to provide effective selfcrosslinking performance together with a significant reduction in both the formaldehyde present in the resulting emulsion polymer and the formaldehyde released to the environment upon curing.
AEROTEX NMA combines the cost effectiveness of AEROTEX NMA with a dramatic reduction in total formaldehyde.
The active self-crosslinking species of AEROTEX NMA is Nmethylolacrylamide (NMA).
AEROTEX NMA contains both a vinyl group and an Nmethylol group.
The vinyl group is reactive and enables the AEROTEX NMA to be readily incorporated into a variety of polymer backbones.

Once incorporated into the polymer, the methylol group can be triggered to undergo crosslinking with itself, other functional groups in the polymer (such as hydroxyls or amines), or with cellulosic substrates.
The bifunctional feature of AEROTEX NMA ultimately results in latex binders which provide important performance properties to the final product, such as wet strength, tear strength, and solvent resistance.

AEROTEX NMA is specifically designed to provide effective self-crosslinking performance along with a significant reduction of both the formdehyde present in the resulting emulsion polymer and the formdehyde lasting to ambient formdehyde released released released.
AEROTEX NMA combines the cost effectiveness of AEROTEX NMA with a drastic reduction in total formaldehyde.
The active self-crosslinking species of AEROTEX NMA is N-methylolacrylamide (NMA).
AEROTEX NMA contains a vinylo group and an N-methylol group.

The vinylo group is reactive and allows AEROTEX NMA to be easily incorporated into a variety of polymer structures.
Once incorporated into the polymer, the methylol group can be activated to cross-link with itself, with other functional groups in the polymer (such as hydroxyls or amines), or with cellulosic substrates.
The bifunctional characteristic of AEROTEX NMA ultimately results in latex binders that provide important performance properties to the final product, such as moisture resistance, tear resistance, and solvent resistance.

The uses of AEROTEX NMA range from adhesives and binders in papermaking and textiles to a variety of surface coatings and resins for varnishes, films and sizing agents .
AEROTEX NMA can be used in wet-strength and dry-strength agents for paper, in textile finishing agents for crease resistance, in antistatic agents, in dispersing agents, in cross-linking agents and in emulsion polymers.
