DESCRIPTION

Agnique CSO-35 is a BASF commercial surfactant identified by product number 30634576.
Agnique CSO-35 is chemically classified as ethoxylated castor oil with a nominal average of approximately 35 EO units.
Agnique CSO-35 is supplied as a nonionic emulsifier and solubilizing agent.
Agnique CSO-35 is listed as a liquid product at 23°C in BASF’s current industrial-formulator range.

Structurally, Agnique CSO-35 is based on the triglyceride framework naturally present in castor oil.
Agnique CSO-35 contains predominantly ricinoleate-derived fatty chains with polyoxyethylene groups introduced through ethoxylation.
Agnique CSO-35 contains a distribution of molecules with different oxyethylene-chain lengths and attachment patterns.
Agnique CSO-35 is therefore a UVCB substance rather than one chemically uniform molecular species.

The generalized composition of Agnique CSO-35 may be represented as C₅₇H₁₀₄O₉(CH₂CH₂O)n.
For Agnique CSO-35, the value of n represents an average near 35 rather than an identical number in every molecule.
The nominal theoretical average molecular weight is approximately 2,475.31 g/mol when 35 EO units are added to the generalized castor-oil structure.
One exact molecular formula and molecular weight are not appropriate for every constituent of the commercial product.

Agnique CSO-35 contains hydrophobic castor-oil-derived fatty regions and hydrophilic polyoxyethylene regions.
The fatty regions associate with oils, solvents, waxes, hydrophobic actives, and nonpolar surfaces.
The polyoxyethylene regions interact with water and polar ingredients through dipolar and hydrogen-bonding interactions.
This amphiphilic balance enables Agnique CSO-35 to accumulate at interfaces and facilitate emulsification and solubilization.

Agnique CSO-35 is classified as a nonionic surfactant because its principal hydrophilic groups do not possess a permanent electrical charge.
Its nonionic character generally supports compatibility with many anionic and nonionic formulation ingredients.
Performance can nevertheless change with temperature, electrolyte concentration, water hardness, solvent composition, and active-ingredient chemistry.
The complete formulation must therefore be tested rather than selected solely from the nonionic classification.

Agnique CSO-35 is manufactured through controlled reaction of castor oil with ethylene oxide.
Industrial ethoxylation requires careful catalyst selection and control of temperature, pressure, reaction time, and residual ethylene oxide.
The average degree of ethoxylation is adjusted to obtain the required balance between oil affinity and water compatibility.
Finishing operations control water, acidity, catalyst residues, color, odor, and physical consistency.

Agnique CSO-35 is generally described as a yellow liquid in historical BASF agricultural-formulation literature.
Agnique CSO-35 is listed with approximately 100% active content in historical product-range information.
Agnique CSO-35 has a representative density near 1.05 kg/L at 25°C.
Agnique CSO-35 commercial appearance and analytical limits should be confirmed against the current BASF certificate of analysis.

Agnique CSO-35 has a current BASF product-range viscosity of approximately 120 mPa·s at 60°C.
Agnique CSO-35 has been reported historically with a viscosity near 750–1,000 mPa·s at approximately 25°C.
Agnique CSO-35 becomes less viscous as temperature rises, which improves pumping, metering, and mixing.
Agnique CSO-35 processing equipment should be selected according to its temperature-dependent flow behavior.

Agnique CSO-35 has a current BASF product-range cloud point of approximately 72°C under Method E conditions.
Agnique CSO-35 has also been reported historically with a cloud point near 73°C under the same general method classification.
Agnique CSO-35 clouding reflects reduced hydration of the polyoxyethylene groups as temperature increases.
Finished-formulation cloud behavior may differ because it also depends on surfactant concentration, salts, solvents, and co-emulsifiers.

Agnique CSO-35 has a historical hydrophilic–lipophilic balance value near 12.5.
Agnique CSO-35 therefore occupies an intermediate-to-hydrophilic range suitable for many oil-in-water emulsification systems.
The HLB value provides an initial formulation guide rather than a complete prediction of emulsion performance.
Emulsifier selection should be confirmed through dilution, droplet-size, temperature-cycle, and storage testing.

Agnique CSO-35 is described as soluble in water under historical BASF agricultural screening criteria.
Agnique CSO-35 may produce clear, opalescent, or cloudy solutions depending on concentration, temperature, and electrolyte content.
Agnique CSO-35 can also interact effectively with many organic solvents, oils, and hydrophobic formulation ingredients.
Compatibility should be evaluated with the exact solvent and active-ingredient combination intended for production.

Agnique CSO-35 has a representative surface tension near 42 mN/m at the referenced aqueous concentration in historical BASF information.
Agnique CSO-35 reduces surface tension sufficiently to support wetting, spreading, and particle incorporation.
The measured value may change substantially in the presence of salts, solvents, active ingredients, and other surfactants.
Finished-product surface tension should therefore be determined under the intended use-dilution conditions.

Agnique CSO-35 has a historical flash point reported above approximately 200°C.
Agnique CSO-35 has low volatility under normal room-temperature handling conditions.
Agnique CSO-35 remains an organic combustible material despite its high flash point and limited evaporation.
Severe heating or combustion may produce carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, aldehydes, and irritating organic fumes.

Agnique CSO-35 has a historical freezing or congealing value near approximately 10°C.
Cool storage can therefore cause thickening, clouding, separation, or partial solidification.
These physical changes may be reversible when the product is warmed gradually and homogenized according to supplier instructions.
Cold material should be inspected and mixed thoroughly before representative sampling or formulation.

Agnique CSO-35 can generate foam during dilution, recirculation, pumping, or high-shear mixing.
Foam behavior depends on concentration, temperature, water hardness, mechanical energy, and the other surfactants present.
Excessive foam can interfere with tank filling, volume measurement, milling, and manufacturing throughput.
Antifoam agents should be screened carefully because they may also alter emulsion stability, wetting, or active delivery.

Agnique CSO-35 can be combined with compatible anionic, nonionic, and selected amphoteric surfactants.
Appropriate combinations may improve spontaneous emulsification, droplet distribution, hard-water tolerance, and temperature stability.
Incompatible combinations may produce phase separation, precipitation, excessive viscosity, clouding, or uncontrolled foam.
Systematic formulation testing should compare several ratios under realistic storage and dilution conditions.

Agnique CSO-35 derives part of its molecular structure from natural castor-oil feedstock.
Agnique CSO-35 also contains synthetically introduced polyoxyethylene groups and should not automatically be described as entirely renewable.
BASF’s current product-range table identifies Agnique CSO-35 as containing bio-based carbon and as biodegradable under the referenced classification system.
Application-specific sustainability claims should be confirmed using the current BASF documentation and calculation methodology.

Agnique CSO-35 is listed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the commodity inert ingredient category for ethoxylated castor oil.
This listing does not independently authorize every concentration, crop use, formulation type, or labeling claim.
Regulatory acceptability depends on the intended pesticide product, jurisdiction, concentration, and current legal framework.
The relevant BASF regulatory documentation and competent authority requirements should be reviewed before commercial use.

Agnique CSO-35 is generally stable under recommended storage and handling conditions.
Strong oxidizing agents should be avoided because they may react with the organic fatty and polyether structure.
Extended exposure to excessive heat, air, moisture, or contamination can contribute to discoloration, odor change, or performance loss.
The current BASF Technical Data Sheet and regional Safety Data Sheet should take priority over historical catalogue information.
