Ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS) is the generic name for ammonium dodecyl sulfate (CH 3 (CH 2 ) 10 CH 2 OSO 3 NH 4 ). The anion consists of a non-polar hydrocarbon chain and a polar
terminal sulfate group. The combination of non-polar and polar groups gives the anion the properties of a surfactant : it facilitates the dissolution of both polar and non-polar
materials. ALS is classified as a sulfate ester . It is found primarily in shampoos and body washes as a foaming agent. / Lauryl sulfates are superficial -active substances with
very high foam, which partially break the surface tension of water due to the formation of micelles at the surface-air interface.
Precautions
At high temperatures (above 40 to C) or in acidic systems (pH≤5) hydrolyzed. Thus, the product must be stored at a temperature below 40 about S. In its inherent boundaries pH, AESA
can promote microbial growth - sampling and work with components should be carried out under conditions that prevent ingress of microorganisms.
