General Manufacturing Information of Ammonium Lactate:

Industry Processing Sectors:
Paint and coating manufacturing

Pharmacology and Biochemistry of Ammonium Lactate:

Pharmacodynamics:
Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid.
Ammonium Lactate is a normal constituent of tissues and blood.

The alpha-hydroxy acids (and their salts) may act as humectants when applied to the skin.
This property may influence hydration of the stratum corneum.
In addition, lactic acid, when applied to the skin, may act to decrease corneocyte cohesion.

Absorption, Distribution and Excretion of Ammonium Lactate:

Absorption of Ammonium Lactate:
In vitro study of percutaneous absorption of ammonium lactate lotion, 12% using human cadaver skin indicates that approximately 5.8% of the material was absorbed after 68 hours.

Pharmacology of Ammonium Lactate:

Indication:
For the treatment of dry, scaly skin (xerosis) and ichthyosis vulgaris and for temporary relief of itching associated with these conditions.

Reactivity Profile of Ammonium Lactate:
Acidic salts, such as AMMONIUM LACTATE, are generally soluble in water.
The resulting solutions contain moderate concentrations of hydrogen ions and have pH's of less than 7.0.

They react as acids to neutralize bases.
These neutralizations generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of inorganic acids, inorganic oxoacids, and carboxylic acid.

They usually do not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is not impossible.
Many of these compounds catalyze organic reactions.

First Aid of Ammonium Lactate:
