ARADUR 847

ARADUR 847 hardener is a low-viscosity, light-colored cycloaliphatic polyamine adduct.
In combination with liquid epoxy resins, ARADUR 847  can be formulated into high-solids coatings and floorings, particularly self-leveling floorings.
Customer-prepared formulations based on ARADUR 847 have been submitted to the NSF for approval.
ARADUR 847 is a modified cycloaliphatic polyamine adduct.

ARADUR 847 is a cycloaliphatic polyamine adduct used as a curing agent for epoxy resins.
Because ARADUR 847 is a formulated mixture of complex chemical compounds rather than a single chemical substance, ARADUR 847 does not have a single, universal CAS number.
However, many of the raw materials and building blocks used in its formulation (such as isophorone diamine and similar cycloaliphatic amines) typically fall under generic CAS numbers like 2855-13-2 (Isophoronediamine).

Aradur 847 by Huntsman is a cycloaliphatic amine-based curing agent and offers good chemical resistance.
ARADUR 847 is suitable for coatings and flooring applications.

ARADUR 847 is a low-viscosity, light-colored cycloaliphatic polyamine adduct.
ARADUR 847 is primarily used as a curing agent (hardener) for liquid epoxy resin systems in high-performance industrial coatings and flooring applications.
Thanks to its low viscosity and rapid curing characteristics,ARADUR 847 is especially suitable for solvent-free and high-solids epoxy formulations, including self-leveling flooring systems and protective coatings.

When combined with liquid epoxy resins such as Araldite GY 250, GY 266, PY 302-2, or PY 304, ARADUR® 847 provides excellent mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and a smooth, glossy surface finish.
ARADUR 847 is widely used for industrial maintenance coatings, tank linings, concrete protection, sewage treatment facilities, and epoxy aggregate systems where long-term durability is required.

One of the key advantages of ARADUR 847 is its fast curing speed, allowing coated surfaces to reach dust-free conditions quickly, even at temperatures above 10°C.
The cured films exhibit excellent resistance to water, dilute inorganic acids, alkalis, and many solvents, making the product suitable for harsh industrial environments.
In addition, ARADUR 847 has low blush and low exudation tendencies, resulting in attractive, high-gloss coatings with excellent surface appearance.

ARADUR 847 is particularly recommended for applications requiring high chemical resistance, good adhesion to concrete and metal substrates, and easy processing.
Its low viscosity improves filler incorporation and application properties in self-leveling flooring compounds and heavy-duty protective coatings.
Some formulations based on ARADUR 847 have also been submitted for NSF approval for food-contact-related applications, depending on the complete formulation.

ARADUR curing agents are supplied in liquid or solid form and can be used in conjunction with ARALDITE epoxy resins to achieve a broad range of thermal, mechanical and electrical properties.
This complete line of high-performance curing agents includes reactive polyamides, polyamido amines, aliphatic amines, cycloaliphatic amines, aromatic amines, anhydrides and novolacs.

ARADUR 847 is widely used as an epoxy-resin hardener.
ARADUR 847 is a strong sensitizer and can cause airborne contact dermatitis.

Production Methods
Isophorondiamine is made from isophorone nitrile, ammonia, and hydrogen, which leads to simultaneous imination and hydrogenation of the resulting imine and nitrile groups.
Catalysts employed are mainly cobalt or ruthenium.

Uses
ARADUR 847 mainly used as epoxy curing agents, mainly for applications requiring low color, low odor, high flexural strength and excellent chemical resistance of epoxy formulations. Suitable for floor coatings, fillers and paving mixes.

Uses
One of the three epoxy networks based on diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A epoxy prepolymer cured with aliphatic amines, namely triethylenetetramine (TETA), 1-(2-aminoethyl) piperazine (AEP) and isophoronediamine (IPD).
