Chemical Identity and Properties:
 ASCO Powder is a branded anionic surfactant consisting of sodium salts of C14-16 alpha-olefin sulfonates. The product is produced by the sulfonation of linear alpha-olefins in the C14 to C16 carbon chain length range. The manufacturing process yields a complex mixture including:
Alkene sulfonates (major component)
Hydroxyalkane sulfonates (major component)
Disulfonates and other sulfonation byproducts (minor components)
The typical molecular weight of the active components ranges from approximately 310 to 350 g/mol. ASCO Powder is supplied as a white to pale yellow free-flowing powder with an active matter content typically between 90% and 95%. It exhibits excellent water solubility, high foaming capacity, and good stability in hard water.

Performance Characteristics:
Hard Water Tolerance: Forms stable foams and maintains detergency in hard water conditions without requiring additional builders for precipitation prevention
Foaming Properties: Produces rich, stable foam with good creaminess; foam stability is superior to linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) in hard water
Detergency: Excellent removal of particulate soils and moderate effectiveness against oily soils
Mildness: Generally considered milder than LAS and alcohol sulfates (AS) for skin and fabric applications
Electrolyte Compatibility: Maintains performance in the presence of high electrolyte concentrations
Applications:
Laundry Detergents: Used in powder and liquid laundry detergents as a primary or co-surfactant. It provides excellent hard water performance and contributes to high foam profiles where desired.
Automatic Dishwashing: Employed in automatic dishwashing detergents (both powder and tablet forms) for its grease-cutting ability and compatibility with other detergent components.
Hand Dishwashing Liquids: Valued for its high foam stability, mildness, and grease removal in manual dishwashing formulations.
Industrial Cleaners: Used in heavy-duty industrial cleaners, metal cleaners, and food processing equipment cleaners.
Personal Care: Incorporated into shampoos, body washes, and bubble baths where high foaming and mildness are required.
