Biological Activity    
Bakuchiol oil has various pharmacological effects such as antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, cardioprotective, and estrogen-like effects. 
Bakuchiol oil exhibits antimicrobial activity against oral microorganisms such as Streptococcus mutans. 
Bakuchiol oil is also a DNA polymerase inhibitor and showed anti-tumour activity in human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. 
Bakuchiol oil showed hepatoprotective activity in vitro and in vivo against liver injury in rats.
Bakuchiol oil is a phytoestrogens from psoralea seeds that have anti-tumor and other effects.

Mode of action    
The research found that Bakuchiol oil upregulates the expression of the antiapoptotic molecule Bcl2 and downregulates the expression of the proapoptotic molecules Bax and caspase-3 by activating the silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) signaling pathway and thereby inhibits mitochondrial damage and ameliorates myocardial IRI. 
Bakuchiol oil promotes apoptosis in hepatic astrocytes through the caspase-3-dependent pathway and inhibits liver fibrosis. 
In addition, Bakuchiol oil exerts a protective effect against hepatotoxicity induced by tert-butyl hydroperoxide (tBH), tetrachloromethane (CCl4), and d-galactosamine (D-GalN). 
BAK (60mg/kg) treatment significantly reduces edema and pathological changes in lung tissues by inhibiting intense inflammation and exerting protective effects in the lung under sepsis conditions.
