CAS Number: 26636-40-8
Hydrophilic emulsifier; forms emulsions with good temperature resistance
Docosanol, ethoxylated, 30 mol EO (average molar ratio)
Beheneth-30 is a polyethylene glycol ether of Behenyl Alcohol (q.v.).
Beheneth-30 is a cleaning agent, or "surfactant," that can also be found in a variety of makeup products such as eyeliner.
Beheneth-30 can be used to form a sticky gel that allows the cleaner to cling to a surface.
Beheneth-30 is particularly good at removing dirt, so Beheneth-30 is a good choice for products such as toilet bowl cleaners.
Since the carbon number of the alkyl group of Beheneth-30 is larger than that of stearyl ethers or cetyl ethers, Beheneth-30 can be used to produce cosmetics with excellent emulsifying power, moisture retention and spreadability.
The functions of the cosmetic ingredient:
CLEANSING: helping to keep the body surface clean.
SURFACTANT - CLEANSING: wetting body surfaces, emulsifying or solubilizing oils, and suspending soil (generally, such ingredients contribute to the foaming and lathering properties of cleansing products).
SURFACTANT - EMULSIFYING: helping suspensions or dispersions of liquids in a second liquid by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.
Functions of Beheneth-30:
Cleaning agent: Helps keep a surface clean
Emulsifying agent: Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil)
Surfactant: Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the even distribution of the product during use
Humectant, Emulsifier
Industry Primarily Used of Beheneth-30:
Cosmetics
Pharmaceuticals
Inks & Coatings
BEHENETH-30 is classified as:
Cleansing
Emulsifying
Surfactant
Properties of Beheneth-30:
Appearance of Beheneth-30:
white flake or granular.
White to pale yellow waxy substance.
Solubility of Beheneth-30:
dispersible in water (slightly soluble in water) to soluble in water.
The solubility increases with the increase of EO number.
Stability of Beheneth-30:
stable.
Risk of Beheneth-30:
Solid form - flammable material; irritation, irritation to skin, eye, respiratory system.
Harmful products of combustion are CO, CO2 and so on.
Contact with strong oxidants, can cause to burn.
