Busan 30WB is a microbicide concentrate that is used as a preservative for caulking-sealants and vinyl acetate wallcovering adhesives.
Busan 30WBs addition to these products will inhibit the growth of fungi that often cause the discoloration, unsightly appearance, and degradation of these compounds, particularly when they are exposed to humid environments.
Busan 30WB is a chemical compound classified as a benzothiazole.

Properties
Busan 30WB is an oily, flammable, red to brown liquid with a pungent odor that is very slightly soluble in water.
Busan 30WB decomposes on heating producing hydrogen cyanide, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides.
The degradation products are 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (2-MBT) and 2-benzothiazolesulfonic acid.
Uses
Busan 30WB is used as wideband microbicide, paint fungicide, and paint gallicide.
The active substance approved in 1980 in the United States.
Busan 30WB is used, for example, in leather preservation,[4] for the protection of paper products, in wood preservatives, and against germs in industrial water.[3]
In the US, Busan 30WB is used as a fungicide for seed dressing in cereals, safflower, cotton and sugar beet.
Busan 30WB is also used when dealing with fungal problems when extracting hydrocarbons via fracking.
Approval
Busan 30WB is not an authorized plant protection product in the European Union.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, no plant protection products containing this active substance are authorized.
Busan 30WB contributes to health problems in tannery workers as it is a potential carcinogen, and is a hepatotoxin.
Busan 30WB is also a skin senitizer, and may cause contact dermatitis in those exposed to the poisonous compound.
Hence, it is mainly used in developing countries.
Busan 30WB is especially recommended for the pro tection of caulking-sealants intended for use around bath tubs, showers, and bathroom tiles, and vinyl acetate adhesives used on fabrics and paper for covering walls.
Busan 30WB is specially formulated for even distribution in the tanning drum.
Applied in the pickle stage or during tanning.
Busan 30WB provides protects wetblue, wet white, free-of-chrome and other wet stock during storage and transportation and ensures the best base for crusting and finishing.
Busan 30WB is a water-based, broad-spectrum microbicide based on 2-(Thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole or TCMTB.
Busan 30WB is effective against microorganisms which degrade and foul metalworking fluids.
Busan 30WB is specifically recommended for use as a tankside additive to prevent the growth of fungi and bacteria in diluted, end-use soluble oil, semi-synthetic and synthetic fluid systems.
Busan 30WB, also based on TCMTB, is recommended for use in soluble oil and semi-synthetic metalworking fluid concentrates.
Busan 30WB is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency under EPA Reg. No. 1448-55 for use in cutting fluids.
Busan 30WB is used to inhibit bacterial and fungal degradation of water-based and water-soluble or emulsifiable cutting fluids and coolants used in metalworking operations.
Busan 30WB should be added to the diluted cutting fluid at a rate that will provide 150–250 parts per million (ppm) Busan 30WB (weight/weight) after final dilution with water.
To prevent fungal growth on the inside walls of the diluted metalworking fluid storage tanks, higher concentrations of Busan 30WB are needed.
For this application, Busan 30WB is recommended that Busan 30WB be added to the diluted fluid as it is prepared to provide a concentration of 1,000–1,250 ppm.
Busan 30WB can be dispensed directly from the shipping container by means of a chemical-metering pump or suitable measuring containers.
To ensure complete dispersion, Busan 30WB should be added to the system at a point of vigorous agitation.
Because Busan 30WB is a liquid emulsion, inventory control is important.
Oldest inventory should be used first, and the in-plant storage time should be kept to a minimum.
After prolonged periods of storage or if a clear fluid appears on top of the emulsion, the product should be thoroughly mixed or agitated before use.
Busan 30WB should be kept from freezing.
To control bacterial and fungal growth in pulp and paper mill systems, Busan 30WB is added to the white water or stock at 0.05 to 0.25 kg per metric ton of dry pulp or paper/paperboard produced.
To make mold-resistant paper and paperboard, Busan 30WB is used at 0.25 to 0.50 kg/1,000 m2 of surface.
For coated paper or board, Busan 30WB is incorporated in the coating mix prior to application of the coating.
For uncoated paper or board, Busan 30WB is dispersed in water, surfacesizing solution, or other solvent, and applied to the surface to be protected by means of an applicator roll.
Busan 30WB may be used for supplemental treatment of broke, which may be required to achieve the best slime control.
For uncoated broke, Busan 30WB is used at 0.1 to 0.2 kg per metric ton.
Coated broke may require levels up to 0.25 kg per metric ton if contamination is severe.
Busan 30WB can be fed into the system directly from the shipping containers by use of chemical-metering pumps or suitable measuring containers.
Busan 30WB should be added to the system at points of vigorous agitation.
Busan 30WB is used at concentrations of 1.6 to 10.0 ppm (weight/weight) in the system.
A slug dose of 5 to 30 ppm can be made initially, and repeated until control is evident.
Slug additions should be made to the sump of water cooling towers.
Subsequent additions of 1.6 to 10 ppm are required every 1 to 5 days or as needed.
The required frequency of treatment depends on the relative amount of bleed off and the severity of the microbiological fouling problem.
Busan 30WB can be dispensed directly from the shipping containers by use of chemical-metering pumps or suitable measuring containers.
Sufficient mixing to ensure adequate dispersion of the microbicide is required.
Busan 30WB is used at levels between 0.5% and 3.0% based on the total weight of the formulation to inhibit fungal disfigurement and deterioration.
For solvent-based coatings Busan 30WB can be dissolved in aromatic solvents or combinations of aromatic and aliphatic solvents and added in
the let down or added directly to the finished product.
For water-thinned latex emulsion coatings, Busan 30WB can be premixed with the wetting agent and added to the pigment slurry or simply added to the let down or the finished product.
