Some uses of C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate:

Emollient:

As an emollient, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate helps to keep the skin moist and supple by reducing water loss from the outer layers of the skin.
C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate forms a protective barrier on the surface of the skin, trapping moisture and preventing water loss to the air.

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate also helps to improve the texture and performance of a product by acting as a lubricant.
More to that, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate reduces friction when anything rubs against the skin.
These functions allow C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate to keep the skin moisturized and also help repair the appearance of the skin.

While all skin types can benefit from emollients like C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, emollients are very beneficial for those who have dry, rough, and/or flaky skin.
Emollients help to leave the skin looking and feeling soft and smooth.
In addition, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate may benefit those that suffer from conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or other inflammatory skin condition.

Texture:

Moreover, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate imparts a soft and velvety feel to the skin and has improves spreadability.

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate also functions as an effective thickener when added to gels, creams, and lotions.
Further, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate has excellent solubility in oil and is often used in sunscreens because it helps keep the active ingredients dispersed throughout the formula.

Scent:

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate can be used to improve the scent of products.
While C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is not a direct fragrance.
More to that, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate improves the scent by increasing the longevity of the scent in the formulation.

Anti-microbial:

Research suggests that C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate may also have antimicrobial properties, reducing the likelihood of the growth of bacteria and mold in formulations due to contamination.
However, there is limited data on which microorganisms C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is effective against.

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is the ester formed by the reaction of C12-15 Alcohols with Ethylhexanoic Acid.
Thus, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is a 100% active crystal clear, virtually colorless and odorless liquid.
C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate has a very light, dry feel on skin and is useful in skin creams and lotions, fragrance sprays, skin conditioners, and after shave preparations.

High-quality C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is suitable for many research applications.
Since C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is an ester that is composed of various long-chain alcohols, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is often misunderstood to be bad for the skin.

It is true that some alcohols, like ethyl or rubbing alcohol, can be extremely drying to the skin.
However, quite the opposite is true for C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, which is well known to effectively condition and soften the skin and hair.
C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is a popular emollient (skin-softening, moisture-sealing) ingredient.

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is often used in sunscreens where it keeps active ingredients evenly dispersed throughout the formula.
Further, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate may also boost the SPF of certain sunscreen actives

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate can impart a lightly conditioning, silky finish to products
Moreover, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate has proven track record of safety in cosmetic use.

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is used as an emollient (skin-softening, moisture-sealing), texture-enhancing and dispersing agent in cosmetics.
Furthermore, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is an ester that’s soluble in oil and oil-like ingredients, and imparts a lightly conditioning, silky, non-oily finish to products.

C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate’s excellent solubility is one of the main reasons it’s used in so many sunscreens, as it helps keep the active ingredients evenly dispersed throughout the formula.
Research also indicates that C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate has the ability to boost the SPF of certain sunscreen actives.

Another advantage of C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate is its occlusive properties which help skin retain moisture over a longer period compared to some other emollients that deliver shorter-lived results.
In 2012, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel deemed C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate as safe in the reported use/max concentration at that time (up to 59% in leave-on products).

The safety of C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate and other alkyl benzoates has been assessed by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel, a group responsible for evaluating the safety of skincare and cosmetic ingredients.
Due to the low water solubility of long-chain alkyl benzoates, the Expert Panel reasoned that these ingredients were unlikely to be absorbed into the bloodstream, reducing any toxicity of immunity risks.

At concentrations used in cosmetic products, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate and other long-chain alkyl benzoates are not an eye or skin irritant.
These compounds also don’t seem to sensitize or irritate the skin.
Overall, the Expert Panel concluded that C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate and other alkyl benzoates are safe for use in cosmetics.

Inhalation:

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel.
It may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist or are severe.
If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.
Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.
