castor oil ethoxylates are surfactants which are formed by reacting 100% bio-based ethylene oxide with 100% bio-based castor oil. 100% bio-based ethylene oxide is made from 100% bio-based ethanol, derived from corn, sugar cane or biomass. Castor oil is 100% based vegetable oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the castor oil plant Ricinus communis. CASTOR OIL 40 EO polysorbate surfactants are hydrophilic, meaning they are generally soluble or dispersible in water, and excellent emulsifiers, forming oil-in-water or water-in-oil emulsions. CASTOR OIL 40 EO polysorbates are used in many personal care applications as well as industrial cleaning, fiber finish, crop protection, water treatment, paints and coatings, lubricants and many other industrial applications.

What Is Castor Oil Ethoxylate?
Castor oil ethoxylates are a very important class of surfactants that find themselves in many industrial applications and market segments.  Derived from the bio-renewable extract from the seed of the castor plant (Ricinus communis), this vegetable oil is then further processed via ethoxylation to instill distinct physical properties that impart surface-active qualities to the product.  This unique feature of surface-activity allows ethoxylated castor oils to increase mixing between two immiscible materials (e.g. oil and water), putting this class of compounds into the category of surfactants. Our broad portfolio of ethoxylated castor oils  are great examples of the vast array of physical properties that can be attributed to the various forms of ethoxylated castor oils.  These lines of ethylene oxide condensates of castor oil have an extensive assortment of physical properties to choose from, including a varied range of hydrophilic-lipophilic balances (HLBs), viscosities, and hydrogenated alternatives.  All of Our castor oil ethoxylates are compatible in a variety of formulations that vary in their pH, salinity, and solids percent.

Castor Oil Ethoxylate Uses
Castor oil ethoxylates find many uses in a variety of industries, because this class of compounds are versatile emulsifiers, solubilizers, emollients, dispersants, and lubricants.  Due to the many potential areas of applications, Our CASTOR OIL 40 EO series are used in various applications by agricultural, oil & gas, textile, cosmetic and metal-working industries.

In particular, ethoxylated castor oils have been engineered by agricultural chemical companies to fit the needs of the agricultural industry, where they are excellent solubilizers and dispersants of many pesticides and herbicides.  Other markets are commonly served alternative line of castor oil ethoxylates, CASTOR OIL 40 EO, which have been developed to act as pigment dispersants, oil-in-water emulsifiers, and lubricants.
Ethoxylated castor oil products are sourced from bio-renewable organic materials. We helping to evolve markets to increase the bio-renewable content of surfactants as well as push the boundaries of innovation for the future of our environment and communities.  We aim to decrease our carbon footprint on the environment while continuing to provide our markets with the most efficient, cost-effective, and safe surfactant-based products.

Application of Castor Oil Ethoxylates:
Castor oil ethoxylates are used as emuslifiers, solubilizers, dispersants and lubricants for drilling muds, cleaning, textiles and tanning, (for example softeners, antistatic oils, fiber lubes and dyeing aids,) in colorants, (for emulsification of pigment dispersions, universal tints and colorants,) and in metalworking formulations, (for example soluble cutting oils and tube and wiredrawing lubes.)  They are also used for the preparation of vitamins, insecticides, pesticides and fragrances in water and in cosmetic products, (for example lotions, creams, shaving foams and shampoos.)

Industries where are they used:
Castor oil ethoxylates are used in the Oil & Gas, Lubricants and Metalworking, Precision Cleaning and Industrial Specialties and Cosmetics industries as well as food ingredients.

Types of Castor Oil Ethoxylates:
There is ethoxylated castor oil, (ethylene oxide condensates of castor oil,) and ethoxylated hydrogenated castor oil, (ethylene oxide condensates of hydrogenated castor oil,) also known as: PEG-n-CO and PEGn-HCO.  The number of moles of ethylene oxide can vary.  Castor Oil Ethoxylates with a number of ethylene oxide moles above 25 per oil are used as stabilizers and emulsifiers, and Castor Oil Ethoxylates with a number of ethylene oxide moles less than 25 are used as water-in-oil emulsifiers for the preparation of creams, lotions and similar applications. Ethoxylated hydrogenated castor oil is preferred over ethoxylated castor oil when higher oxidation stability, lighter color, less odor or higher melting point is required.

Castor oil ethoxylates are a type of nonionic vegetable oil ethoxylated based on castor oil which is composed of traditional fatty acids like stearic acid but also the unique ricinoleic acid. Castor oil ethoxylates act as the emulsifier, solubilizers, anti-static agents, and lubricants.
Castor oil ethoxylates capable of mixing immiscible materials like oil and water. Castor oil ethoxylates have many uses, primarily as nonionic surfactants in various formulations both in industrial & domestic ethoxylate in India, Castor oil has Pale yellow viscous liquid.

Ethoxylated castor oil (also known as PEG-n-CO) are ethylene oxide condensates of castor oil and hydrogenated castor oil. The number of moles of ethylene oxide can vary.

Use
Castor Oil 40 EO combines with an HLB (hydrophiliclipophilic-balance)-value emulsifying, dispersing and wetting properties. Castor Oil 40 EO is used as a dispersing agent for pigments to produce low viscous, stable pigment dispersions or organic pigments in aqueous preparations or solvents. The recommended usage is 5 - 20 % active material based on the organic pigments. For inorganic pigments the dosage is 3 – 8% active material based on pigments.

CASTOR OIL 40 EO is a non-ionic surfactant, whose hydrophobic portion comes from castor oil and the hydrophilic portion, from the ethylene oxide chain. By increasing the degree of ethoxylation, the hydrophilic character of the molecule is increased (higher HLB), which represents increasing water solubility, cloud points and pour points. Oxiteno offers a wide range of castor oil ethoxylates for use as emulsifiers, antistatic agents, lubricants and solubilizers in various markets and product applications. This surfactant is 42% renewable carbon and has an HLB value of 13.0. Castor Oil 40 EO  products are excellent emulsifiers for pine oil and are compatible with ationic biocides, e.g. benzalkonium chloride. They can provide a blooming effect when a formulation is diluted at use and are recommended for clear pine oil-based disinfectants and cleaners. Castor Oil 40 EO  can also act as emulsifiers, solubilizers, emollients, dispersing agents and humectants in formulations of creams, lotions, masks, bases, sun protection products, and in the pharmaceutical sector.

PEG-40 Castor Oil. Acts as an emulsifier, solubilizer, emollient, dispersing agent and humectant. It is a non-ionic surfactant, whose hydrophobic portion comes from castor oil and the hydrophilic portion, from the ethylene oxide chain. Used in formulations of creams, lotions, masks, bases and sun protection products

For its version of polyethoxylated castor oil. It is prepared by reacting 35 moles of ethylene oxide with each mole of castor oil. The resulting product is a mixture (CAS number 61791-12-6): the major component is the material in which the hydroxyl groups of the castor oil triglyceride have ethoxylated with ethylene oxide to form polyethylene glycol ethers. Minor components are the polyethyelene glycol esters of ricinoleic acid, polyethyelene glycols and polyethyelene glycol ethers of glycerol.[1] Castor Oil 40 EO is a synthetic, nonionic surfactant used to stabilize emulsions of nonpolar materials in water. CASTOR OIL 40  EO is an excipient or additive in drugs. Therapeutically, modern drugs are rarely given in a pure chemical state, so most active ingredients are combined with excipients or additives such as Castor Oil 40 EO.
