⯈DESCRIPTION OF CERIUM OCTOATE :
Cerium Octoate is otherwise known as cerium tri(2-ethylhexanoate).
Cerium Octoate appears as a clear, yellow liquid.
Cerium Octoate can be used as a drier for printing inks and coatings.
Popularly known as rare earth (cerium) this primary paint dryer promotes polymerization and imparts through drying appropriately.
When used along with cobalt Cerium Octoate has a synergistic effect that results in lower percentage requirement of cobalt and thereby offering an economy.
Cerium Octoate finds use in lead free compositions and has to be used judiciously due to its skinning tendency.

⯈USES/BENEFITS OF CERIUM OCTOATE:
Cerium Octoate is used as a metal intermediate, catalyst, polymer additive, and plastic additive.
Cerium octoate is used as an additive in industrial processes.
Cerium octoate is also a component utilized in the glass industry.

Cerium Octoate has the ability as oxygen carrier.
In alkyd-based varnishes, Cerium Octoate is more active as compare to lead.
In contrast with lead driers, rare earth (Cerium) does not cause turbidity in oils and alkyd-based varnishes.
Cerium carboxylates promote the polymerization and through-drying.
Cerium carboxylates are particularly recommended for baking enamels and white and clear overprint varnishes, as Cerium carboxylates produce less discoloration than other active metals.
Cerium Octoate is high performance dryers.
Cerium Octoate has perfect clarity low viscosity.

Cerium (Rare earth) is a primary drier, promotes polymerization and imparts through drying property.
In alkyd based varnishes Cerium is more active as compared to lead.
In contrast with lead driers, Cerium does not cause turbidity in oils and alkydbased varnishes.
Cerium Octoate has a synergistic effect when used in combination with cobalt resulting in the need for using a lower percentage of cobalt and thereby offering an economy.
In airdrying white colourless or clear or pastel shades care must be taken to predetermine the quantity required to obtain satisfactory drying in order to avoid yellowing.
As a replacement to lead, Cerium finds use in lead-free composition and where sulphur containing pigments are used.
Cerium Octoate also resists atmospheric hydrogen sulphide stain.

⯈APPLICATIONS OF CERIUM OCTOATE:
Cerium Octoate  is used in printing ink
Cerium Octoate  is used in paint industry
Cerium Octoate  is used for water proofing.

Cerium Octoate, excellent chemical stability, as the main drying agent, used for coating and ink driers, especially in curing printing ink, not yellow after baking, Cerium 2-Ethylhexanoate can instead of other metal ink driers.
Cerium octoate can initiates UV degradation of polyolefines, it can be used as dispersing agent for coatings and paint, stabilizer for PVC, and used in various catalysts for oxidation, hydrogenation and polymerization and as an adhesion promoter, as the the precursor in preparation of inorganic nanoparticles in oil-in-water microemulsions, as displacement agent for shale gas extraction process.
Cerium Octorate promotes polymerization and through drying.
Cerium Octoate is, more active at higher temperatures and does not stain the film although Cerium Octoate imparts less hardness than iron.
Cerium Octoate is a preferred drier in long oil alkyd vehicles and alkyd/epoxy systems.
Cerium Octoate also performs as an effective auxiliary drier in coatings dried at low temperature and high humidity.
Cerium Octoate is particularly recommended for baking finishes for white or overprint vanishes where color retention is important.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON CERIUM OCTOATE:
•Cerium Octoate is a cerium source that is soluble in organic solvents as an organometallic compound (also known as metalorganic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic Isooctanoate Packaging, Lab Scalecompounds).
The high purity acetylacetonate anion complexes by bonding each oxygen atom to the metallic cation to form a chelate ring; because of this property, acetylacetonates are commonly used in various catalysts and catalytic reagents for organic synthesis, including the fabrication of various shapes of carbon nanostructures  via the use of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and laser evaporation techniques.
Cerium Octoate is one of numerous organo-metallic compounds (also known as metalorganic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic compounds) sold by American Elements under the trade name AE Organo-Metallics™ for uses requiring non-aqueous solubility such as recent solar energy and water treatment applications.
Similar results can sometimes also be achieved with Nanoparticles and by thin film deposition.
Note American Elements additionally supplies many materials as solutions.
The numerous commercial applications for Cerium include metallurgy, glass and glass polishing, ceramics, catalysts, and in phosphors.
In steel manufacturing Cerium Octoate is used to remove free oxygen and sulfur by forming stable oxysulfides and by tying up undesirable trace elements, such as lead and antimony.
Cerium Octoate is considered to be the most efficient glass polishing agent for precision optical polishing.

•Metal carboxylates such as 2-ethylhexanoic acid, cerium salt are substances consisting of a metal cation and a carboxylic acid anion.
Based on the solubility of 2-ethylhexanoic acid, cerium salt in water, a complete dissociation resulting in cerium ions and 2-ethylhexanoate ions may be assumed under environmental conditions.
Since cerium cations and 2-ethylhexanoate anions behave differently in the environment, including processes such as stability, degradation, transport and distribution, a separate assessment of the environmental fate of each assessment entity is performed
