CETEARETH-3

CAS Number: 68439-49-6
COSING REF No: 75113
Chem/IUPAC Name: C16-18 alcohols, ethoxylated (3 mol EO average molar ratio)

APPLICATIONS

Ceteareth-3 is classified as emulsifying and surfactant.
Moreover, Ceteareth-3 is used in moisturizer products.

Ceteareth-3 is nonionic emulsifier and thickener for cosmetic emulsions.
Also, Ceteareth-3 is Suitable for conventional creams and lotions, but excellent conditioner rinses can be made with this product.
No other cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol is required in such emulsions, as Ceteareth-3 has a strong thickening effect.

Ceteareth-3 is Emulsifying agent.
That means Ceteareth-3 Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil).
Ceteareth-3 is a Surfactant
Which indicates that Ceteareth-3 Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the even distribution of the product during use.

Ceteareth-3 is emulsifier.
Ceteareth-3 is a component enabling the formation of an emulsion.

Emulsion is a physicochemical form that is created by combining (mixing) the water phase with the oil phase.
Examples of cosmetic emulsions are creams, lotions, lotions.
Ceteareth-3 is a Foaming substance.

Ceteareth-3 is stabilizing and improving the quality of foam in a mixture with anionic surfactants.
Ceteareth-3 acts as a rheology modifier (i.e. improves consistency) in washing preparations containing anionic surfactants, thanks to the formation of the so-called mixed micelles.

Ceteareth-3 is a Wetting substance.
That means Ceteareth-3 facilitates the contact of the cleaned surface with the washing solution, which facilitates the removal of impurities from the surface of the skin and hair.

Ceteareth-3 is Emulsifier obtained from fatty alcohol; belongs to the group of so-called PEGs (polyethylene glycols), which were wrongly evaluated negatively by some authors due to the starting product of ethylene oxide.

Functions of Ceteareth-3 in a cosmetic.

-Washing substance, detergent, surfactant, surfactant

-Viscosity regulator

-Formula stabilizer

-Emulsion stabilizer

-Foam stabilizer

-Foaming substance

-Auxiliary substance

-Surfactant

DESCRIPTION

Ceteareth-3 is liquid to waxy solid.
In cosmetics and personal care products, Ceteareth-3 is used in skin care products, moisturizers, hair conditioners, suntan and indoor tanning products and hair dyes, colors, and tints.

Ceteareth-3 helps to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.
Also, Ceteareth-3 is used to decrease the thickness of liquid cosmetics and personal care products.

Ceteareth-3 is a polyethylene glycol ether of Cetearyl Alcohol.

Ceteareth-3 is safe for use in cosmetic products.
There are no restrictions on the use of Ceteareth-3 in cosmetic products.

Ceteareth-3 is Non-ionic surfactant.
Moreover, Ceteareth-3 is Fatty alcohol ethoxylate.
Ceteareth-3 is A mixture of cetyl and stearyl alcohols ethoxylated with 3 moles of ethylene oxide.

Ceteareth-3 is Moderately lipophilic substance, insoluble in water.
Additionally, Ceteareth-3 is Sensitive to pH changes - at low pH it is stable, at high pH it decomposes (hydrolyzes).
Ceteareth-3 is Resistant to hard water containing mainly calcium and magnesium ions.

Ceteareth-3 is a synthetic fatty alcohol that is made from cetearyl alcohol and ethylene oxide.
The number 3 indicates the number of ethylene oxide units in the molecule.
Ceteareth-3 is produced in the form of a white waxy substance, odorless.
Ceteareth-3 is used quite often in cosmetics, mainly as an emulsifier.

Ceteareth-3 has antimicrobial effects, increases the stability of the product and extends its shelf life.
Also, Ceteareth-3 is one of the most commonly used emollients and skin conditioners.
Ceteareth-3 increases the permeability of the skin, thus helping other substances to be better absorbed.

Ceteareth-3 has hydrophilic effects.
You can find Ceteareth-3 in hair dyes, moisturizing creams or cleaning products.
Ceteareth-3 belongs to a group of substances known as PEG (polyethylene glycol radicals).

The use of Ceteareth-3 is not exactly recommended, during its production it may be contaminated and contain unwanted impurities, for example Ethylene Oxide or 1, 4-Dioxane.
Ceteareth-3 is approved for use in cosmetics because it is considered a safe substance in the low concentrations (0.5-5%) in which it is used.
Additionally, Ceteareth-3 May cause irritation in more sensitive individuals.
Ceteareth-3 should not be applied to broken or irritated skin.
