CETEARETH-7

CAS Number:    68439-49-6
ECHA EC Number:    500-212-8
Chemical Name: Polyoxyethylene cetyl ether

DESCRIPTION:
The INCI names ceteareth-n (where n is a number) refer to polyoxyethylene ethers of a mixture of high molecular mass saturated fatty alcohols, mainly cetyl alcohol (m = 15) and stearyl alcohol (m = 17).
The number n indicates the average number of ethylene oxide residues in the polyoxyethylene chain.
These compounds are non-ionic surfactants that work by attracting both water and oil at the same time, frequently used as emulsifiers in soaps and cosmetics.
CETEARETH-7 is a complex and versatile non ionic surfactant designed to emulsify and produce stable dispersions of cosmetic materials.
CETEARETH-7 is recommended as a base emulsifier, capable of producing lotions and milks with a variety of raw materials.
Products of higher viscosity -viscous lotions and creams - can be produced by using CETEARETH-7 in combination with cetostearyl alcohol or polyol esters such as glyceryl monostearate.

CETEARETH-7 is classified as :
Emulsifying
Surfactant

Properties:
Good emulsifier for cosmetics.
Good emulsifier of mineral oils and waxes.

USES OF CETEARETH-7:
Emollient - Softens and soothes the skin. Helps with skin conditioning.
Emulsifier - Allows water and oils to remain mixed together to form an emulsion.
Surfactant - Reduces the surface tension to allow mixtures to be formed evenly.
Emulsifier is a specific type of surfactant which allows two liquids to mix together evenly
In cosmetics and personal care products, Ceteareth ingredients are used in skin care products, moisturizers, hair conditioners, suntan and indoor tanning products and hair dyes, colors, and tints.
CETEARETH-7 helps to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified..
