Ceteartrimonium chloride, or cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC), is a topical antiseptic and surfactant.
Long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactants, such as cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC), are generally combined with long-chain fatty alcohols, such as stearyl alcohols, in formulations of hair conditioners and shampoos.

The cationic surfactant concentration in conditioners is generally of the order of 1–2% and the alcohol concentrations are usually equal to or greater than those of the cationic surfactants.
The ternary system, surfactant/fatty alcohol/water, leads to a lamellar structure forming a percolated network giving rise to a gel.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound used as a preservative.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium used in cosmetics for its antistatic properties.

Since Ceteartrimonium chloride is a cationic surfactant, Ceteartrimonium chloride allows water and oil to be dispersed, thus providing soft and pleasant consistencies.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is often used in place of (or sometimes in combination with) silicone in hair care.

Ceteartrimonium chloride can also be used as a preservative.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is a cationic quaternary ammonium salt that is used as a light hair conditioning agent.

Ceteartrimonium chlorides use in conditioners and cream rinses improves both wet and dry combing and reduces static electricity.
As Ceteartrimonium chloride is cationic, Ceteartrimonium chloride is used primarily in conditioning products rather than in shampoos.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is a 29 - 30% active solution of cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is an anti-static ingredient that helps condition the hair.

Not only conditioning it also acts as a preservative by preventing the growth of bacteria in liquid solutions, and therefore help products to last longer.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is also a surfactant: partly water-soluble and partly oil-soluble, Ceteartrimonium chloride allows oil and water to become dispersed and give products a good consistency and a gentle cleansing foam.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt, Ceteartrimonium chlorides concentration in cosmetics is highly controlled by state regulations.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is very similar to another conditioning ingredient called behentrimonium chloride.

Indeed, only the number of carbon atoms they contain differs, which slightly changes the feel of the conditioner on the hair when you apply it, Ceteartrimonium chloride being very light, almost imperceptible when the hair is still wet, whereas, with behentrimonium, you can really feel the product.
Ceteartrimonium chloride, also known as cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) and N,N,N,-trimethyl, is a topical surfactant found in personal care products, particularly for hair.

Chemically, Ceteartrimonium chloride is a cationic long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactant that is often combined with long-chain fatty alcohols, like stearic alcohol, by formulators of hair conditioner and shampoo.
Practically, Ceteartrimonium chloride smooths strands of hair to control frizz, fly-aways, and rambunctious curls.

In fact, this chemical is so effective at detangling wind-whipped hair that you’ve almost certainly used it.
Ceteartrimonium chloride’s as common in hair conditioning agents as soap is to shampoo.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is a waxy solid.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is a white sediment that is poorly soluble in water.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with a C16-chain.
In the cosmetics industry, due to its chemical structure, Ceteartrimonium chloride is mainly used in hair care products and shampoos, while it is used in textiles as an antistatic and plasticizer.

In view of its antiseptic effect, disinfectants can also contain Ceteartrimonium chloride.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is a liquid quaternary ammonium salt, typically purchased as an aqueous solution with approximately 30% concentration.

Ceteartrimonium chloride functions as a conditioning agent and surfactant in our products.
Cetrimide is a quaternary ammonium compound. Cetrimide was first introduced as a combined cleanser and skin antiseptic by Barnes (1942).

Cetrimide combines excellent detergent properties and minimal toxicity with a useful antiseptic action.
Cetrimide affects membrane permeability allowing ‘leaking’ of essential cell constituents leading to cell death.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is a skin antiseptic and disinfectant prescribed for seborrhoeic dermatitis and wound cleansing.
Ceteartrimonium chloride has a bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria and incompatible with soaps and other anionic surfactants.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is an ingredient used in hair care and skincare products to reduce static and improve the safety and longevity of products.
Centrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt and is the same class of ingredients as cetrimonium bromide and steartrimonium chloride.

Centrimonium chloride is used mainly in hair care products such as shampoos but is also used in some cleansing body products as well.
Centrimonium chloride helps to inhibit static electricity that is built up between the hair strands, causing flyaways and frizz.

Ceteartrimonium chloride also acts as a mild preservative.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is a quaternary cationic conditioner.

Ceteartrimonium chloride has anti-static, anti-frizz & detangling properties.
Ceteartrimonium chloride can be used with non-ionic and cationic surfactants and most polar solvents.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is an ingredient for multiple hair care applications.
Ceteartrimonium chloride contains only water as solvent.

General cationic surfactant, Hair conditioner base.
Ceteartrimonium chloride be easy to comb, to finish a soften hair.

Ceteartrimonium chloride not contain IPA, favorable for low odor products.
Ceteartrimonium chloride's typically found in conditioners and/or leave-in conditioners.

Ceteartrimonium chloride gently cleanses the hair while providing conditioning/detangling abilities, softness and making the hair smoother.
Though Ceteartrimonium chloride can cleanse the hair, it does not remove product build up.
Ceteartrimonium chloride also stops the build up of static electricity in hair, which in turn makes the hair smoother and easy to manage.

USES OF CETEARTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE:

We use Ceteartrimonium chloride to aid in the coverage, feel, and evaporation of our foaming hand sanitizer.
The Cosmetic Ingredients Review has deemed the ingredient as safe for use in cosmetics when formulated to be nonirritating.

One study found the ingredient is considered safe for use in rinse-off cosmetic products and in leave-on products in concentrations of up to 0.25% and/or formulated to be nonirritating.
Great Anti-Static active to reduce fly-away and improve the manageability of the hair.

Ceteartrimonium chloride also helps with wet combability.
This ingredient is a great addition to any conditioner or leave-in styling treatment.

Ceteartrimonium chloride can also be used in wash-off products where there are no anionic surfactants present. Add into the water phase during any stage of manufacturing.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is an excellent conditioning agent for hair, with anti-static, anti-frizz, and detangling properties.

Ceteartrimonium chloride also functions as an emulsifier and surfactant, helping boost rinse-off and stabilize emulsions.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is a a light hair conditioning agent.

Ceteartrimonium chlorides use in conditioners and cream rinses to improve both wet and dry combing and reduces static electricity.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is used as a topical antiseptic and a preservative due to its ability to inhibit the growth of microorganisms.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is used as a surfactant (for cleansing and emulsifying) and a suspending agent.
When used as a Conditioning agent, Ceteartrimonium chloride does not have any usage restrictions.

However when used in a formulation as a preservative it is restricted to 0.1% under EU law.
Commonly Ceteartrimonium chloride is used between 0.1% and 2% as a conditioning agent in Conditioners.

Preservatives, despite the bad reputation that has been unfairly bestowed upon them by the beauty industry, are one of the most important parts of the formulation process.
Preservatives help to prevent the growth of bacteria, yeasts and molds that can grow in your product due to use and exposure to the air.

This contamination often occurs when you scoop out your product or take off the lid to use it.
Preservatives, like centrimonium chloride help to reduce the likelihood of contamination.

This ensures that your product is safe to use for longer. Without preservatives your product would only be safe to use for a few days to a few weeks depending on the type of product and whether it is a water or oil-base.
Definitely not long enough to get through your favorite cream.

Centrimonium chloride is an anti-statc ingredient which means it reduces flyawys and frizz caused by static electricity.
As the hair strands rub against each other or a fabric such as a pillowcase or hat, they cause static electricity.

Ceteartrimonium chloride uses at industrial sites.
Ceteartrimonium chloride is used in building & construction work and offshore mining.

Ceteartrimonium chloride is used for the manufacture of textile, leather or fur and mineral products (e.g. plasters, cement).
