CETEARYL OLIVATE

CAS NUMBER: 223706-40-9

Cetearyl olivate is composed of cetearyl alcohol and fatty acids derived from olive oil.
An ester that comes from Cetearyl alcohol and the fatty acids of olive oil.

Cetearyl olivate often comes to the formula coupled with Sorbitan Olivate as the two together form the well-known, natural emulsifier trade named Cetearyl Olivate.
Other than helping oil and water to blend, the main thing of Cetearyl Olivate is generating liquid crystal structures that are similar to the lipid structures of the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin).

Thanks to this, Cetearyl Olivate doubles as an active ingredient with significant moisturizing, barrier-repairing and soothing properties.
An oily, somewhat waxy ester of cetearyl alcohol and the fatty acids from olive oil.

Cetearyl olivate may be animal-derived, synthetic or derived from plants.
Cetearyl olivate functions as an emulsifier and slip agent or texture enhancer.

Cetearyl olivate-based ingredients are considered safe for use on skin.
Cetearyl olivate is a non-ionic emulsifier composed of cetearyl alcohol and fatty acids of olive oil.

Cetearyl olivate is an oily, waxy ester made from Cetearyl alcohol (a type of fatty alcohol) and fatty acids derived from olive oil.
Primarily, it’s used as an emulsifier – it can help bring together oils and water-based ingredients.

Cetearyl olivate can help various ingredients mix better and also increase the shelf-life of the product.
Cetearyl olivatet has a very thick and luxurious texture, which makes it highly desirable for skincare products.

Cetearyl olivate feels nice. Products created with Cetearyl olivate spread easily across the skin, and do not leave behind a “soapy” or “filmy” texture.
Cetearyl olivate biomimics the skin in many ways and absorbs well.

Cetearyl olivate is a type of emulsifying wax. Alternatives to Cetearyl olivate as an e-wax are Polawax, BTMS-50 , and Emulsifying Wax NF.
Cetearyl olivate is another alternative when opting to make a product without an emulsifying wax.

Cetearyl olivate is often paired with sorbitan olivate in skincare formulations also referred to as Cetearyl Olivate.
Cetearyl olivate is also a skin friendly ingredient that is derived from olive oil and esterified with sorbitol (a sugar alcohol).

Cetearyl Olivate is a PEG-free self-emulsifying multifunctional ingredient (white to ivory waxy flakes at 20°C, melting point ~ 70°C).
Cetearyl olivate is a complex combination of fatty acids, chemically similar to the lipidic composition of the skin surface.

Cetearyl Olivate has the ability to generate liquid crystal structures that mimic the stratum corneum organization.
As the sole emulsifier, Cetearyl Olivate provides a deep moisturizing effect.

A nonionic emulsifier that helps blend ingredients together in cosmetic solutions, usually ones with moisturizing properties.
Cetearyl olivate's helps soften the skin & hair, and gives products a smooth and luxurious feel.

Drawing from Hallstar’s deep expertise in olive oil chemistry, Cetearyl Olivate is derived from a complex combination of fatty acids that are chemically similar to the composition of the hydrolipidic film of the skin.
Cetearyl Olivate has the ability to generate liquid crystal structures, making it an ideal biomimetic ingredient in terms of composition and structure for use in a very wide range of applications.

USES OF CETEARYL OLIVATE:

In addition to its many skin care applications, Cetearyl Olivate can be used in hair care formulations such as crème rinse and leave-in conditioners, improving wet combability as demonstrated by clinical testing.
Cetearyl olivate is also effective as the emulsifying base for more traditional hair conditioner formulae that use cationic ingredients, broadening its scope of applicability.
