CAS Number: 9004-95-9 / 14529-40-9
EC Number: 500-014-1
COSING REF Number: 75143
Molecular Weight: 682.976

APPLICATIONS

Ceteth ingredients are used in the formulation of hair dyes and colors, hair conditioners, permanent waves and other hair care products, as well as makeup foundations, cleansing products and other skin care products.
Ceteth-10 is an Emulsifying agent.
That means Ceteth Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil).

Ceteth-10 is Surfactant.
Which means Ceteth-10 Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the even distribution of the product during use
Ceteth-10 is used in Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals, Inks & Coatings.
Ceteth-10 uses and applications include: Surfactant, emulsifier, defoamer, wetting agent, conditioner for personal care products; solubilizer for fragrances; emulsifier for pharmaceuticals, creams, lotions; leveling agent; defoamer in food-contact paper coatings; food-contact textiles.

Ceteth-10 Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures of immiscible liquids by changing their interfacial tension.
Ceteth-10 Reduces the interfacial tension of cosmetic products and contributes to an even distribution during application.
Also, Ceteth-10 is used as a surface active agent in cosmetics.
Ceteth-10 is a compound of derivatives of cetyl, lauryl, stearyl, and oleyl alcohols mixed with ethylene oxide Non-ionic surfactant of the polyethylene glycol family.
Ceteth-10 is used as a solubilizer and emulsifying agent in foods, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, often as an ointment base, and also as a research tool.
Ceteth-10 is used as an oil in water (O/W) emulsifier for creams/lotions, and a wetting agent.
Polyethylene glycol hexadecyl ether, or Ceteth-10, has been used in a study to assess properties of gemini-conventional surfactant mixtures and their effects on solubilization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
Ceteth-10 has also been used in a study to investigate RNase-sensitive constraint of bacterial nucleoid structure.

In cosmetics, Ceteth-10 is used in:
-Eye colour
-Face / neck skin care
-Face colour
-Hair colour
-Hair conditioners - rinse off
-Lip colour
-Shampoos
-Styling.

DESCRIPTION

Ceteth-" refers to a PEG (polyethylene glycol) ether of cetyl alcohol.
The number after "Ceteth-" indicates the average number of molecular units -CH2-CH2-O-.
The Ceteth ingredients help other ingredients to dissolve in a solvent in which they would not normally dissolve.
Ceteths also help to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified and they clean the skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they these substances can be rinsed away.

Ceteth-10 is White waxy solid with mild fatty odor.
Ceteth-10 is a PEG ether of cetyl alcohol.
Also, Ceteth-10 is in Specialty Chemicals class.
Ceteth-10 is synthetic polymer with a wide variety of applcations.

Its biocompatability allows for it to be used in the study of plasma membrane vesicles and bacterial nucleoid structure.
Ceteth-10 is a nonionic surfactant or detergent for protein extraction and permeabilization of cells. It may be used in the preparation of yeast spheroplasts.
Ceteth-10 is a non-ionic detergent that is provided for research purposes or as a 10% proteomic grade solution.
Also, Ceteth-10 is a product of the reaction between higher fatty alcohol and ethylene oxide. This reaction results in a self-emulsifying O/W wax, different from the self-emulsifying wax used previously, since it is not derived from anionic surfactants, alcohols, and gum or similar.
