Description

Cetyl Palmitate is a naturally occurring wax ester formed by the esterification of cetyl alcohol and palmitic acid. It is a white, wax-like solid widely used as an emollient, consistency agent, viscosity modifier, lubricant, and texture enhancer in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and personal care formulations. Cetyl Palmitate closely resembles the natural wax esters found in human sebum and was historically one of the principal components isolated from spermaceti wax obtained from sperm whales. Today, commercial Cetyl Palmitate is produced almost exclusively from sustainable vegetable-derived raw materials or synthetic sources.

Due to its excellent lubricity and silky sensory characteristics, Cetyl Palmitate is frequently incorporated into creams, lotions, lipsticks, sunscreens, foundations, hair conditioners, pharmaceutical ointments, and topical medicinal products. It improves spreadability, reduces greasiness, enhances skin softness, and contributes to stable emulsion structures.
