Climbazole, which can be used as preservative in cream, hair cream and foot care products.
In addition, Climbazole can also be used as a dandruff remover in shampoo.
Climbazole is used 2% as anti-dandruff agent in rinse-off shampoos and 0.2% as cosmetic preservative in leave on formulations (face cream, hair lotion, foot care) except for cosmetics applied on a full body area (body lotion).

Ideal for application in anti-dandruff shampoo, body wash and soap.
Climbazole is an antifungal agent used in cosmetics to combat dandruff and various scalp conditions caused by fungal infections like Malassezia.
As a broad-spectrum antifungal, Climbazole works by inhibiting the growth of fungi, preventing their proliferation on the scalp.

Climbazole is commonly added to hair care products like shampoos and scalp treatments.
The use of Climbazole as a preservative should therefore only be allowed in face cream, hair lotion, foot care products and rinse-off shampoo.
The maximum concentration of Climbazole should be 0,2 % for face cream, hair lotion and foot care products and 0,5 % for rinse-off shampoo.

The use of Climbazole as a non-preservative should be restricted to rinse-off shampoo, when the substance is used as an anti-dandruff agent.
For such use, the maximum concentration of Climbazole should be 2 %.
Climbazole functions as an antifungal agent.

Climbazole's mechanism of action involves inhibiting the growth of fungi by disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol.
This disruption leads to increased permeability of the cell membrane, ultimately causing the death of the fungal cells.
Climbazole targets and inhibits the enzyme cytochrome P450 14α-demethylase, which is involved in the biosynthesis of ergosterol.

By interfering with this key enzyme, climbazole effectively disrupts the fungal cell membrane structure, leading to its antifungal activity.
This mechanism of action makes climbazole useful in studying fungal cell biology and developing potential antifungal strategies.
Climbazole is an antifungal drug, which is frequently used in the treatment of skin fungal infections.

Further, Climbazole is a renowned preservative that inhibits the development of bacteria in formulations - increasing their shelf life.

ORIGIN OF CLIMBAZOLE:
Climbazole is synthesized through a multistep chemical process. Initially, 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzonitrile undergoes a reaction with diethylamine to form 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzamide.

Subsequently, Climbazole is subjected to reduction using a reducing agent like iron powder, resulting in the formation of 4-chloro-3-aminobenzamide.
Finally, the aminobenzamide compound reacts with chloroacetyl chloride to produce Climbazole.
Climbazole is also known as Baypival.
