About Cobalt Octoate
Cobalt Octoate is a source of organic solvent soluble cobalt as an organometallic compound (also known as the packaging of organo-metallic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic isoctanoate, laboratory compounds). Cobalt octoate is commonly used in various catalysts and catalytic reagents for organic synthesis. It is usually immediately available in most volumes. Very high purity and high purity forms can be envisioned. Cobalt Octoate is one of a number of organometallic compounds (also known as organometallic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic compounds)  for uses requiring non-aqueous solubility like recent solar power and water treatment applications. Similar results can sometimes be obtained with nanoparticles and by depositing thin layers. Note American Elements also provides many materials as solutions. Cobalt compounds produce a brilliant, permanent blue color in ceramic enamels, glass, pottery, tiles and enamels. American Elements produces many standard grades where applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, responsive and technical quality; Food, agricultural and pharmaceutical quality; Optical grade, USP and EP / BP (European Pharmacopoeia / British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Typical and personalized packaging are available. Additional technical, research and safety information (SDS) is available, as well as a reference calculator for converting the relevant units of measure.

Cobalt octoate
 Cobalt octoate
Cobalt octoate is the most active surface dryer. Cobalt ensures rapid drying of the surface and is generally used in conjunction with auxiliary dryers. Cobalt octoate is typically added in an amount of 0.05-0.4% based on the vehicle solids. It is a powerful oxidizer. It is compatible with all surface coating supports. Atmospheric humidity does not affect the cobalt dryer. This unique feature prevents water vapor in the atmosphere from entering the paint film. Since cobalt octoate is the most efficient dryer, it promotes polymerization of the substrate, hardens the paint film, improves gloss and water resistance, and reduces film brittleness. Careful use of cobalt octoate gives to the paint film a good gloss, without tendency to icing. This dryer is a universal dryer, essential in all media and able to operate individually giving reasonable properties to the paint film.

In air-drying type insulating varnishes, the use of cobalt octoate increases water resistance, but excessive use of Cobait's octoate causes brittleness and early failure of the insulation. . Cobalt octoate accelerates the catalytic action of methyl ethyl ketone (M.E.K.) peroxide to polymerize an unsaturated polyester resin.

Cobalt octoate
CAS No: 136-52-7
Cobalt is an extremely active dryer and the most widely used in paints, coatings and inks. It is primarily an oxidation catalyst and acts as a surface desiccator. Cobalt is an effective polyester accelerator. It is also used as a catalyst for chemical reactions, as a rubber adhesion promoter and as a polyurethane catalyst.

Justification of effects

One study reports skin sensitization in a (non-atopic) printing worker who developed eczema. Skin tests with standard test batteries (chemicals related to rubber, plastics and glues) were negative. Positive responses were observed for cobalt chloride. Two drying agents used in the workplace were found to be positive at different dilutions (1 to 10% in Vaseline). After checking with the manufacturer, the drying agents contained 2% cobalt octoate and 4% manganese octoate in mineral oil in one, and 5% cobalt octoate in mineral oil in one. 'other.

Another study reports skin sensitization in a worker (atopic) who rolled bathtubs (spas). She developed hand dermatitis which worsened at the end of the work week; the dermatitis diminished after several days' leave. When I returned to work, the dermatitis returned. Skin tests have shown positive responses to cobalt chloride. The manufacturer of the poyester resin which was used for the lamination of the baths, reports that the resin contained cobalt octoate as an accelerator. Closed skin tests (patch) performed with the accelerator (5% and 10% in Vaseline) have shown strongly positive responses.
