COCONUT DIETHANOLAMIDE

DESCRIPTION
Synonyms:  Cocamide DEA, COCAMIDE DEA, CDEA, N, N-bis (2-hydroxyethyl) amide of coconut oil, (N, N-bis (2-hydroxyethyl) amid coconut oil).

Release form and appearance

Transparent, pale yellow viscous liquid. Contains approximately 85% alkanolamide, trace amounts of water, free amine and fatty acids, and up to 10% glycerin.

Production

It is obtained by condensation of fatty acids of coconut or palm kernel oils with diethanolamine at temperatures above 170C in the presence of alkaline catalysts. The highest quality CDEA is obtained in an equimolar reaction (FA: Amine = 1: 1).

Properties

Let's dissolve in water, the solution is alkaline. The aqueous solution may be cloudy, but when other types of surfactants are added, it becomes transparent. CDEA mixes with fatty acids and their esters, allowing them to be dispersed in solution. Stable in acidic, neutral and weakly alkaline solutions.

Main areas and methods of application

It is widely used in the production of personal hygiene products, household and industrial detergents, and cosmetic preparations. A mild cleaner, used in combination with stronger surfactants, prevents the hair from static electricity. In the formulations of detergents and cosmetics it acts mainly as an auxiliary component. Serves as a foam stabilizer, solvent and perfume fixer. It can act as a viscosity regulator instead of inorganic salts. The dosage of the product in formulations is from 1 to 10%. In addition to being used in cosmetics and detergents, it is used as a component of corrosion inhibitors and antistatic agents in the plastics industry.

Safety rules and storage

Store the product in a dry, ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight, in its original packaging. Under these conditions, the product can be stored for up to two years.

Packaging:  containers with a volume of 200, 220 or 1000 liters, as well as in bulk in ISO tanks, flexi tanks as agreed with the consumer.
