Application Advice
Product Properties
The typical values below are used as a product description, they are not part of the product specification.
The definitive product specification is in the valid typical values sheet

Application Properties
Antifreeze Concentrate
A high-grade radiator antifreeze which combines excellent corrosion and cavitation protection for aluminium alloys with excellent protection for soft solder, steel, cast iron and nonferrous heavy metals can be manufactured from Corrosion Inhibitor VP 1749 and monoethylene glycol by simple mixing.

The mixture ratio is 22 % m/m VP 1749 and 78 % m/m ethylene glycol, antifreeze quality.
Fibre quality or a technical quality of the monoethylene glycol are considerations for a suitable glycol quality which meets the following criteria:

Hazen colour value (APHA):below 15
Water content: below 0.5 %
pH-value (10 %):6.5 – 7.5
Electrical conductivity (undiluted):below 0.2 μS/cm
Reducing substances (in accordance with Fehling):negativ
Diethylene glycol content (GC):below 0.5 %

By adhering to these purity criteria, it is guaranteed that Genantin super freshly mixed from the components meets the requirements placed on the product.
More detailed information about the corrosion and cavitation performance of the finished antifreeze is available on request.

Savety, Toxicologyand Ecology
Corrosion inhibitor VP 1749 is harmful if swallowd by humans and animals.
Seek medical advice immediately if swallowed inadvertently.
A one-off lethal dose of 100 ml/person can be accepted by humans.
In most published cases of poisoning, apart from kidney damage, cerebral damage and lung oedema are particularly observed.
Corrosion inhibitor VP 1749/water mixtures are biodegradable.

The ethylene glycol percentage in corrosion inhibitor VP 1749 is over 60 %, along with some water and organic and inorganic salts which are effective for a long time in an equal combination as corrosion inhibitors.
Corrosion inhibitor VP 1749 does not contain amines.
In order to prevent the possible formation of harmful compounds, e.g. nitrous amines, Corrosion inhibitor VP 1749 should not be used in mixture with products containing ethanolamines.

Despatch and Storage
Corrosion inhibitor VP 1749 is supplied in road tankers, rail tankers and 240 kg returnable drums.
Corrosion inhibitor VP 1749 has a 2 year shelf life.
As zinc is not resistant to the undiluted product, consideration should be taken if the product supplied is refilled.

Frost Resistance
Nowadays almost all automotive radiator antifreezes are formulated on a monoethylene glycol base, which has the effect of reducing the freezing point when mixed with water.
The proportion of monoethylene glycol determines the freezing point of the mixture
