COSMETIC FLUID 0515-OH

CAS Number: 63148-62-9, 31692-79-2
 Synonyms: Dimethicone (and) Dimethiconol
Cosmetic Fluid 0515-OH, also supplied by Innospec Performance Chemicals, is another silicone-based ingredient used extensively in the personal care industry.
Like its counterpart 1406-OH, it is a blend with the INCI name Dimethicone (and) Dimethiconol .
While sharing a similar chemical composition, this specific fluid is engineered to offer a distinct set of textural and sensory properties.

This ingredient is described as a high viscosity fluid, which contributes to its specific performance characteristics in formulations .
Its primary role is also as an emollient, but it is particularly prized for the unique feel it imparts to the skin.
It provides a smooth feeling and is especially effective at reducing tackiness, the sticky or adhesive sensation that can be left on the skin by some cosmetic products.

This non-tacky property makes it an excellent choice for creating formulations that glide on easily and leave a clean, dry after-feel .
Cosmetic Fluid 0515-OH is widely used in applications where a smooth, silky slip is desired.
It is a popular ingredient in daily care products for dry skin, where its emollient properties help to moisturize and soothe without leaving a greasy residue.

It is also used in sun care protection for similar reasons, contributing to a more pleasant application experience.
The fluid is particularly noted for its use in "skin slip" applications, which refers to the ease with which a product spreads across the skin.

This makes it ideal for products like body lotions, intimate care products, and various other skin care formulations where a smooth, non-tacky finish is a key consumer desire
Specific Applications and Benefits:
Anti-Tack Formulations: Its primary strength is eliminating the sticky or tacky residue left by many high-performance skincare ingredients. It is frequently used in:
Gels and Serums: Added to water-based gels containing high levels of humectants (like hyaluronic acid or glycerin) to provide a smooth, silky slip and eliminate the "pull" during application.
Sunscreens: Used to counteract the inherent tackiness of many organic UV filters, resulting in a sunscreen that feels dry and silky upon application.

Skin Slip Products: "Skin slip" refers to the ease with which a product spreads. This fluid is ideal for shaving creams, depilatory products, and body lotions where a smooth, gliding action is desired to prevent razor drag or allow for even coverage over large areas.
Formulations for Dry Skin: In rich body butters and creams for dry or compromised skin, it provides intense emollience and smoothness. It helps to fill in micro-cracks in the skin's surface, creating an instantly smoother feel while the heavier oils and butters provide deep nourishment.
Suspension Agent: Its viscosity can help to suspend insoluble particles (like shimmer pigments or microcapsules of fragrance) within a formulation, ensuring a uniform product appearance and dose delivery.

Physical Properties
While specific numerical values may require supplier disclosure, the product is characterized by its ultra-high viscosity dimethiconol component blended with low viscosity dimethicone, creating a balanced rheological profile suitable for various formulation types .
