Because of quick-drying, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is used in organic solvent free UV printing inks.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is also adopted electric and electronic parts for high durability in tough high temperature and high voltage environments.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is also used in environmentally friendly decorative laminate construction material which does not contain volatile organic compounds (VOC).

Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is thermosetting ester resins produced by the reaction of allyl alcohol with ortho-phthalic anhydride and meta-phthalic anhydride, respectively.
The cured resins have excellent electrical insulating properties including high insulation resistance and low electrical losses, even when subjected to to high heat and humidity over long periods of time.
They also have excellent dimensional stability and do not warp in high-heat applications.
Furthermore, they have low moisture absorption, excellent weathering properties, and good chemical resistance to many chemicals and solvents including aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils, alcohols, acids, and alkalis.

The monomers are often used as cross-linking agents in unsaturated (alkyd) polyester resins.
As polymers Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is mainly used as molding resins for electrical and electronic parts such as switches, connectors, control panels, circuit breakers, terminal boards, resistors, and insulators.
Other (potential) applications include laminates, prepregs, headlight lamp reflectors, bathtubs, sinks, appliance handles and control knobs.

Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is the first all-allylic polymer commercially available as a dry, free-flowing white powder.
Chemically, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is a relatively linear partially polymerized resin that softens and flows under heat and pressure (as in molding and laminating), and cross-links to a three-dimensional insoluble thermoset resin during curing.

Properties:
In preparing the resin, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is polymerized to a point where almost all the change in specific gravity has taken place.
Final cure, therefore, produces very little additional shrinkage.
In fact, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is cured by polymerization without water formation.

Allylic resins enjoy certain specific advantages over other plastics, which make them of interest in various special applications.
Allylics exhibit superior electrical properties under severe temperature and humidity conditions.
These good electrical properties (insulation resistance, low loss factor, arc resistance, etc.) are retained despite repeated exposure to high heat and humidity.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is resistant to 155 to 180°C temperatures, and the DAIP resin is good for continuous exposures up to 206 to 232°C temperatures.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin exhibits excellent post-mold dimensional stability, low moisture absorption, good resistance to solvents, acids, alkalis, weathering, and wet and dry abrasion.
They are chemically stable, have good surface finish, mold well around metal inserts and can be formulated in pastel colors with excellent color retention at high temperatures.

Uses of such Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin molding compounds are largely for electrical and electronic parts, connectors, resistors, panels, switches, and insulators.
Other applications for molding compounds include appliance handles, control knobs, dinnerware, and cooking equipment.

Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is used in communications, computer, and aerospace systems.
The high thermal resistance of these materials permits their use in vapor-phase soldering operations.

Uses for prepolymers include arc-track-resistant compounds for switchgear and television components.
Other representative uses are for insulators, encapsulating shells, potentiometer components, circuit boards, junction boxes, and housings.

Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is used to make lightweight, intricate parts such as radomes, printed-circuit boards, tubing, ducting, and aircraft parts.
Another use is in copper-clad laminates for high-performance printed-circuit boards.

Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is used in communications, computer, and aerospace systems.
The high thermal resistance of these materials permits their use in vapor-phase soldering operations.

Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is used both for the monomeric and polymeric forms.
The monomer is used as a cross-linking agent in unsaturated polyester resins.

As a polymer, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is used in the production of thermosetting molding powders, casting resins and laminates.
This is the material of choice for critical, high-performance military and commercial electrical components where long-term reliability is demanded due to its ability to retain its superior insulating properties, even when subjected to extreme environmental conditions of high heat and high humidity over long time periods.
Additionally, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin compounds will resist dimensional change in high-heat soldering environments where competitive materials may warp.

Characteristics: Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid.
Each molecule contains two allyloxy groups, it is stable at room temperature, but if under heating and adding some initiator, it will be very reactive, and can be made into many new materials with special usage.

When used as a reactive monomer, the main property is as follows:

1. With allyloxy groups, under heating and adding some organic peroxide, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin can easily control the polymerization process.

2. Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is very stable at room temperature, so it can be used as anti-gelling agent of vinyl monomers, like styrene and vinyl ester.

3. Because of the low vapor pressure, the Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin monomer is nearly odorless and doesn’t give off the odor like styrene.

4. There is no risk of fire because of its high flash point.

5. The synthetic polymer is of high strength and good toughness.

6. The resin has good light resistance and acid and alkali resistance.

When used as plasticizer or internal plasticizer, the main property is as follows:

1. Synthesis of acrylic resin:
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin can be used in the synthetic resin of acrylic acid system, such as printing rubber, waterproof glue, etc.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin’s helpful to improve the adhesion and water resistance of resin, increase the gloss, improve liquidity and adjust resin viscosity, etc.

2. Unsaturated polyester resin
In the production of unsaturated polyester resin, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin can be used as crossing agent, internal plasticizer(reactive plasticizer), dispersant of dye and catalyst, anti-gelling agent of vinyl monomer (like styrene).
As a crossing agent, Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin has better electrical properties, heat resistance and dimensional stability than products used styrene as crossing agent.
As dispersant and anti-gelling agent, because its high stability at room temperature, high boiling point, less volatile, it’s difficult to be solidified even with catalyst, only solidified by heating.
So Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin can produce premixed or pre impregnated unsaturated polyester resin
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin can also be used in the production of insulating varnish and hardened wood, etc.

3. Internal plasticizer for polymer
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin can be used as the internal plasticizer for polymer, for example, it can be used in the plasticizer of PVC, which make the heat resistance, light resistance, solvent resistance and electrical properties of the products better.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is widely used in sealant of automobile and refrigerator, foaming wallpaper and artificial floor, etc.

4. self polymerization polymer
The self polymerization polymer (prepolymer) of Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin has good heat resistance, plasticization, toughening and dispersion.
Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) Resin is widely used in molding materials, decorative laminated material. UV curing ink and paint, etc.
