DIMETHYETHANOLAMINE (DMEA) Presentation:

Dimethylaminoethanol respectively (DMEA OR DMAE), also known as dimethylethanolamine, is an organic component produced industrially by the reaction of ethylene oxide with dimethylamine.

It contains both an amine group and a hydroxyl group and can therefore react as an amine or an alcohol.

It is a transparent, pale yellow liquid.

APPLICATIONS: Dimethylaminnoethanol is used as a catalyst, corrosion inhibitor, paint remover, boiler water, additive to amino resins and is used in cosmetic and biomedical products.

DMAE (DIMethylaminoethanol) is a compound known as a mental health compound. It does this by reducing its accumulation known as age pigment, which impairs cognitive function and is associated with cognitive decline with age. Also, memory can increase the levels of the acetylcholine-containing compound.

DMAE (DIMETHYLAMINOETHANOL) is also found in a variety of face and body creams and can tighten the skin and improve skin quality. Dimethylaminoethanol DMAE is a new ingredient originally used to treat hyperkinetic disorders and to improve memory. It is now used in cosmeceutical products and is gaining popularity from its activity as an acetylcholine precursor. Originally used as a firming and anti-aging product, new functions have now been clarified, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. In vitro, DMAE inhibits IL-2 and IL-6 secretion in addition to its effects as a free radical scavenger. Although the exact mechanism of action of DMAE is not clear, its acetylcholine-like functions increase the contraction and cell adhesion in the epidermis and dermis, resulting in a firmer skin appearance.Double-blind trials with 3% DMAE facial gel improve the firmness and muscle tone of the facial skin as evidenced by reduced neck sagging. showed that it increased. Topical formulations with a low irritation profile are now also available. There are several well-controlled studies documenting its long-term efficacy and toxicity. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

To execute the full range of specific RMM and OC required to fulfill commitment under community environmental legislation.Adequately control the impact of MEA on the environment is given in the exposure scenarios, annexed to the SDS. The product is not intended for use in the home.

Health benefits: DMAE is supposed to increase the production of acetylcholine (a chemical that helps nerve cells transmit signals). Because acetylcholine plays an important role in many brain functions such as learning and memory, supporters claim that taking DMAE in supplement form can boost brain health by raising acetylcholine levels. Drugs that increase acetylcholine levels have been used to treat Alzheimer's disease, so some studies have looked at DMAE as a potential Alzheimer's treatment. However, they haven't shown any promising results so far.DMAE has been used in some way to treat attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but there is only weak evidence behind this use. A 2011 study on nutritional treatments noted that it "probably had a minor effect." Additionally, DMAE has been studied to improve athletic performance, elevate mood, and address symptoms of depression.

Skin Care Products: DMAE cream, lotion and other skin care products are said to provide anti-aging benefits by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, dark under-eye circles and sagging neck skin. While research on the effectiveness of DMAE is very limited, there is some evidence that using DMAE-based products can help improve skin. For example, a review published in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology states that DMAE can help increase skin firmness and reduce inflammation in the skin. In an analysis of previously published research, the authors of the review found that DMAE can help reduce fine wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes and improve the overall appearance of aging skin. What's more, the authors of the review noted that DMAE did not cause common side effects such as redness, peeling, and dryness.

Cognitive Function: In a study published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease in 2012, 242 people (all diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease) took a placebo or an oral DMAE extract known as V0191 every day for 24 weeks. At the end of the study, there was no significant difference in cognitive function between the two groups. Studies noted that there may be a few issues in the study design, including a relatively short treatment duration, lack of valid measures to evaluate study participants, and problems with assessing changes in cognitive function over time, and there is no evidence that oral DMAE supplements can treat depression or improve sports performance.

Possible side effects: Little is known about the safety of DMAE supplements. However, there is some concern that DMAE may trigger certain side effects, including increased blood pressure, stomach upset, headache, muscle tension, lethargy, confusion, and irritability. DMAE should not be taken because of concern it might cause. Also, people with bipolar disorder or epilepsy should not use DMAE. You can find tips on using supplements here.

When used topically, DMAE may cause skin irritation.

Dosage and Preparation: There is insufficient scientific evidence to determine a safe or effective DMAE dosage. There have been doses used in scientific studies. For example, in a study examining the athletic performance benefits of DMAE, study participants took 300 to 2000 mg of Deanol per day.The safe and effective dose for you may depend on variables including your age, gender, and medical history. APPLICATIONS
Alkanolamines have the combined physical and chemical characteristics of both alcohols and amines in one molecule, which makes them useful intermediates in the synthesis of various target molecules for the use in many diverse areas such as pharmaceutical, urethane catalysts, coatings, personal care, products, Water treatments, corrosion inhibitors, and gas treating industries. There are 1°, 2º or 3º nitrogen atom and one hydroxyl group at least in alkanolamines. Alkanolamines react with inorganic acids carboxylic acids to form salts, soaps, esters, or amides. Alkanolamines are used in both water- based and solvent-based coatings to enhance the solubility, reducibility, pigment dispersing and pH stability.

They are used in cathodic electrodeposition systems and as a catalyst for chain-extend. Alkanolamines are used to prepare surface-active soaps through reaction with fatty acids. Surface-active soaps are used commercially as a emulsifier, lubricants, detergents, pesticides and personal care products. Alkanolamines maintain a constant alkalinity in the boiling water flows and condensate not to form solid products which would impede line flow. This function is applied for corrosion Inhibits. Alkanolamines are widely employed in the preparation of  water soluble cationic flocculants and ion exchange resins which adsorb solid and colloidal particles by electrostatic attraction. They are used for water treatment industry.

Alkanolamines and their derivatives are widely used as intermediates for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients such as procaine, antihistamines analgesics from N,N-dimethylethanolamine or N-methyldiethanolamine. Alkanolamines are used to remove Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and CO2 gas from gas streams in natural and refinery gas operations. Dimethylaminoethanol used for the synthesis of dyestuffs, textile auxiliaries, pharmaceuticals (such as procaine), and corrosion inhibitors. It is used as an antidepressant for water treatment. It is used as an emulsifier and as a catalyst of urethane foaming. N,N-dimethylethanolamine is used  in making sulfurized oils for extreme-pressure lubricants and to lower down the pour point of lubricating oils. N,N-dimethylethanolamine is one of major raw materials to prepare water-soluble ion exchange resins and cationic polymeric flocculants.
Pharmaceutical grade of dimethylethanolamine, called Deanol, is used as an antidepressive or antidyskinesia agent to treat movement disorders. Dyskinesia is can be caused by long-term use of antipsychotic drugs or dopamine antagonists.
