Dioctyl Maleate is commonly called dioctyl maleate (DOM), reflecting the older usage of "octane" to refer to any 8-carbon alkane, straight-chained or branched.
Dioctyl Maleate is a maleic acid that can act as a plasticizer and is used in resins to provide elasticity and flexibility.
Dioctyl Maleate is a co-monomer which can be polymerized with vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride (PVC), acrylates as well as stearates.
Polymerizations with dioctyl maleate can be used in the production of adhesives, emulsion paints, surfactants, textile coatings and wetting agents.
Dioctyl Maleate (DOM) is a diester of maleic acid that can as a plasticizer and emollient.
Di-n-octyl maleate is a clear, virtually colorless liquid with an ester-like odor.
Di-n-octyl maleate is used in resins to provide elasticity and flexibility.
Dioctyl Maleate (DOM) is a widely used chemical intermediate and building block for several chemical production processes.
Besides Dioctyl Maleate's application in chemical synthesis a major field of application for DOM is within the coatings industry.
Furthermore, DOM is used as an phthalate-free alternative to common phthalate based plasticizers like DOP.

Definition
Dioctyl Maleate is a clear, virtually colorless liquid with an ester-like odor.
DOM can be used in organic synthesis, e.g. in the production of derivatives of succinic acid.
DOM is also used as a comonomer in vinyl and acrylic emulsion polymerization for paints and adhesives.
Under the action of heat and in the presence of acids or bases, DOM transposes into the corresponding fumaric-acid dialkyl ester.

Uses
Dioctyl Maleate is commonly used in chemical synthesis and in the coating industry.
Di-n-octyl maleateis also used in coating applications, and as a phthalate-free alternative to common phthalate-based plasticizers such as DOP
Di-n-octyl maleate is a good inner plasticizer, and has good physical and chemical properties during low temperature or ultra-low temperature conditions.
Di-n-octyl maleate can be used for films, coatings, adhesives, rubber, paint fixing agents, oil additives, paper treatment agent
Dioctyl Maleate is an diester of maleic acid that can act as a plasticizer and emmollient.
DOM can be useful as a skin-conditioning agent in products such as moisturizers, cleansers, and make-up.
DOM can also be used in shampoos, conditioners, and styling aids.
In particular, DOM is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of surfactant sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate, which is a used as a wetting agent for detergent.

Applications
Dioctyl Maleate (DOM) is a widely used chemical intermediate and building block for several chemicalproduction processes.
Besides Di-n-octyl maleate's application in chemical synthesis a major field of application for DOM is within the coatings industry.
Furthermore, DOM is used as an phthalate-free alternative to common phthalate based plasticizers.
Dioctyl Maleate is used in conjunction with styrene, vinyl chloride and acrylates/methacrylates in polymerisation reactions.
Di-n-octyl maleate can be used as plasticiser.
Plasticizers are organic compounds that are added to polymers (especially PVC) to facilitate processing and to increase flexibility and toughness of the final product (brought about by an internal modification of the polymer molecule).
Dioctyl Maleate is often used in cosmetic applications where it functions as:
an emollient
an external soothing agent where it reduces irritation and soreness.

Increase in demand for textile coatings from the textile industry, owing to surge in production of waterproof and heat-resistant apparel and fabrics is expected to boost the demand for DOM, thereby driving the growth of the global dioctyl (Z)-but-2-enedioate market.
This is attributed to the fact that DOM is widely used in the manufacturing of textile coatings used in leather, packaging, and sports clothing.
