Dowanol PM also known as methoxy propanol is a glycol commonly used in surface coating formulations.
Dowanol PM is a flammable product with a distillation range of 117-125°C and a specific gravity of 0.921.
Our dowanol PM is very pure with less than 0.01 of water content.
Dowanol PM is very fast evaporating and has a high water solubility and active solvency.
Out of all the glycols, Dowanol PM is the fastest evaporating and offers better viscosity reduction than heavier molecular weight glycol ethres.

Dowanol PM Uses
Dowanol PM is widely used in coating and cleaning applications, it offers better viscosity in epoxy and high solids acrylic systems, Dowanol PM can be used as a coupling agent and solvent for household and industrial cleaners, rust removers and hard surface cleaner.
Dowanol PM can also be used in 2-pack epoxies and graffiti removers, and for certain ink and cleaning applications.
Dowanol PM is also used as an additive in metal degreasing agents and hydraulic fluids.

Benefits of Dowanol PM
-Versatile
-Wide range of applications
-Extensive combination of physical and performance properties

Dowanol PM is propylene glycol methyl ether.
Acts as an active solvent for solvent-based coatings, active and tail solvent for solvent based gravure and flexographic printing inks, and coupling agent for in solvent-blends for water-based gravure, flexographic and silk screen printing inks.
Exhibits moderate evaporation and high dilution rate.
Possesses coupling ability, low viscosity and low surface tension.
Dowanol PM is used in coatings, gravure and flexographic printing inks and silk screen printing inks.

Dowanol PM  is a mid-to slow evaporating solvent.
This hydrophilic solvent has 100% water solubility and is ideally suited as a coupling agent in a wide range of solvent systems.
Dowanol PM  has a higher flash point than DOWANOL PM glycol ether making it easier to handle, store, and ship.
Often incorporated into latex emulsion coatings Dowanol PM  can be used to prevent shocking (coagulation of emulsion) when hydrophobic solvents are used.
More broadly, its hydrophilic nature makes it an ideal coupling aid in water reducible coatings, and cleaning applications.
Dowanol PM ’s intermediate evaporation rate allow it to be used in a potentially wider range of systems than many other solvents.

Features of Dowanol PM

Dowanol PM  is a fast evaporating glycol ether solvent.
Dowanol PM is based on propylene glycol mono butyl ether and provides high solvency and excellent hydrophobic coupling properties.
Dowanol PM is a propylene glycol mono butyl ether-based solvent  that offers relatively fast evaporation, hydrophobicity, high solvency, and improved coalescing properties to a variety of formulations.
Dowanol PM is widely used in heavy-duty cleaning products and formulations due to its excellent solvency and coupling of hydrophobic oils and in greases in cleaning formulations.

Dowanol PM is partially soluble in water and completely miscible with organic solvents.
Dowanol PM is also used to lower the surface tension of cleaning products alone or combined with other glycol solvents.
Dowanol PM also offers good coalescing properties to coating systems when fast evaporation is required.
Dowanol PM offers a combination of high solvency, surface tension lowering ability, and slow evaporation, making it a universal solution for use in a broad array of applications.

Dowanol PM is a fast-evaporating, hydrophobic glycol ether with high solvency and excellent coupling abilities.
Dowanol PM is extensively used in heavy-duty cleaning formulations.
Dowanol PM does an excellent job of solvating and coupling hydrophobic greases and oils in household as well as industrial formulations.

Dowanol PM is the basic ingredient for the living room reeds perfume.
This liquid ensures that the fragrance oil or etheric oils are diluted and are absorbed by the sticks.
As a result the living room perfume will be spread slowly and evenly in the environmental air.
Not all fragrance oils are equally suitable.
A test production is needed for every new formula prior to larger production.
Dowanol PM is an average solvent, which is 100% solvable in water and is suitable as linker in a broad scale of solvent systems.
Dowanol PM has a higher flashpoint than Dowanol PM, which makes it easier to handle, save and transport.

FIRST AID MEASURES of Dowanol PM

General advice:
First Aid responders should pay attention to self-protection and use the recommended protective clothing (chemical resistant gloves, splash protection).
If potential for exposure exists.

Inhalation:
Move person to fresh air.
If not breathing, give artificial respiration; if by mouth to mouth use rescuer protection (pocket mask, etc).
If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be administered by qualified personnel.
Call a physician or transport to a medical facility.

Skin contact:
Wash off with plenty of water.

Eye contact:
Flush eyes thoroughly with water for several minutes.
Remove contact lenses after the initial 1-2 minutes and continue flushing for several additional minutes.
If effects occur, consult a physician, preferably an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion:
If swallowed, seek medical attention.
Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel.

HANDLING AND STORAGE of Dowanol PM

Precautions for safe handling:
Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling.
Avoid breathing vapor.
Use with adequate ventilation.
Keep container closed.
Never use air pressure for transferring product.
No smoking, open flames or sources of ignition in handling and storage area.

Vapors are heavier than air and may travel a long distance and accumulate in low lying areas.
Ignition and/or flash back may occur. Electrically bond and ground all containers and equipment before transfer or use of material.
Containers, even those that have been emptied, can contain vapors.
Do not cut, drill, grind, weld, or perform similar operations on or near empty containers.
Use of non-sparking or explosion-proof equipment may be necessary, depending upon the type of operation.
Keep away from heat, sparks and flame.

See Section 8, EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION. This product is a poor conductor of electricity and can become electrostaically charged, even in bonded or grounded equipment.
If sufficient charge is accumulated, ignition of flammable mixtures can occur.
Handling operations that can promote accumulation of static charges include but are not limited to mixing, filtering, pumping at high flow rates, splash filling, creating mists or sprays, tank and container filling, tank cleaning, sampling, gauging, switch loading, vacuum truck operations.
Spills of these organic materials on hot fibrous insulations may lead to lowering of the autoignition temperatures possibly resulting in spontaneous combustion.
