DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether has the lowest viscosity of the entire line of DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether (1.1 centipoise at 25oC), and it provides superb viscosity reduction.  
The remaining OH group in the glycol ether molecule is capped with an acetate group, which reduces its polarity and reduces the solvent’s viscosity.  
The acetate group also eliminates the reactive hydrogen from the OH group found in other glycol ethers, thus, DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is an excellent solvent choice for urethanes and other proton-sensitive systems.  
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is a relatively fast-evaporating glycol ether, and it sets a performance standard in highsolids, solvent-borne systems.  
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether provides excellent active solvency for a very wide range of resin types, including acrylics, epoxies, alkyds, polyesters and many other.

DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is propylene glycol methyl ether acetate. 
Acts as anactive solvent for solvent-based coatings and silk screen printing inks, aprotic solvent in coating systems where OH reactivity is unwanted (e.g. PU/isocyanate and epoxy). 
Possesses powerful solvency. 
Offers high dilution ratio and moderate evaporation rate. 
Exhibits viscosity control. DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is used in silk screen printing inks and coatings.


DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is a colorless, liquid with low toxicity. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether has a characteristic ester odor and is soluble in water to the extent of 18% at 20°C. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether has excellent solvency for a variety of substances including acrylic, nitrocellulose and urethane coating resins. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is a substitute for certain ethylene glycol (E-series) ether acetates, particularly EEA and EMA. 

Uses:
Coatings: 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is extensively used in many decorative and protective coating formulations.  
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether has a similar evaporation rate and solvency compared to EEA in an acrylicepoxy baking enamel formulation. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is also found to give better gloss and image distinction.  

Cleaners: 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ethers are generally recommended over their acetates because acetates are subject to hydrolysis in very alkaline water-based cleaners.  
However, for solvent-based cleaning, including metal degreasing and specialized equipment cleansing, DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether alone and in conjunction with other solvents is being evaluated as a replacement for many chlorinated solvents. 
The direction of current regulations is to eliminate the use of many chlorinated solvents in this application.  

DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether shows very broad solvency. 
Its solvency characteristics generally match those of chlorinated solvents more closely than do glycol ethers and alcohols.  

Electronics: 
Another area where DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether has replaced EEA is in photoresist formulations used in semiconductor processing. 
In these processes, it is used in the positive photoresist formulation.  
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether may also be used in solvent systems for cleaning and degreasing circuit boards and removing solder flux.

Storage:
General industry practice is to store DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether in carbon steel vessels. 
Avoid contact with air when storing for long periods of time.  
Store only in tightly closed, properly vented containers away from heat, sparks, open flame or strong oxidizing agents. Use only non-sparking tools. 
Ground containers before beginning transfer. 
Electrical equipment should conform to national electric code.  
Handle empty containers carefully. 
Flammable combustible residue remains after emptying. 
Store in properly lined steel or stainless steel to avoid slight discoloration from mild steel. 
Glycol ethers should never be stored or handled in copper or copper alloys.

DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is a non pollution solvent with multi-functional groups. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is mainly used as the solvent of ink, paint, ink, textile dye and textile oil agent, and also as the cleaning agent in the production of LCD. 
Flammable, may form explosive vapor / air mixture above 42 ° C. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is an advanced solvent. 
Its molecule has both ether bond and carbonyl. 
Carbonyl forms the structure of ester and contains alkyl at the same time. 
In the same molecule, there are both non-polar and polar parts. 
The functional groups of these two parts not only restrict and repel each other, but also play their inherent roles. 
Therefore, it has a certain solubility for non-polar substances and polar substances.

Chemical Properties    
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is a clear, slightly hygroscopic liquid with a mild odour. 
DOWANOL PMA Glycol Ether is freely miscible with most common organic solvents, but has only limited miscibility with water.
By virtue of its ether and ester groups, Methoxypropyl Acetate enters into reactions that are characteristic of ethers and esters and display their solvent power. 
For instance, it dissolves numerous natural and synthetic resins, waxes, fats and oils.
Since Methoxypropyl Acetate may react with the oxygen in the air to form peroxides, BASF supplies it inhibited with 2.6-di-tert-butyl-para-cresol (butylated hydroxytoluene – BHT).

Uses:
