Preparation Method
1.High pressure hydrogenation method coconut oil is continuously hydrogenated in a copper-chromium catalyst to obtain C8 to C18 mixed alcohols.
Glycerol in fats and oils is hydrolyzed to isopropanol and water.
Mixed fatty alcohols are often pressure distilled off moisture and isopropanol, vacuum distillation cut C8 ~ Cl0 alcohol, C12 ~ Cl4 alcohol and C16 ~ C18 alcohol.

2.Esterification hydrogenation method coconut oil undergoes transesterification reaction with methanol in the presence of sulfuric acid to produce methyl laurate and glycerol, and EMERCOL C12 99 MY (Lauryl Alcohol ) is obtained by catalytic hydrogenation and distillation.

Reactivity Profile
EMERCOL C12 99 MY (Lauryl Alcohol ) is an alcohol.
Flammable and/or toxic gases are generated by the combination of alcohols with alkali metals, nitrides, and strong reducing agents.
They react with oxoacids and carboxylic acids to form esters plus water.
Oxidizing agents convert them to aldehydes or ketones.
Alcohols exhibit both weak acid and weak base behavior.
They may initiate the polymerization of isocyanates and epoxides.
