EMEROX 1185 is a mixture of C9 and C11 linear dicarboxylic acids derived from natural, renewable sources.

EMEROX 1185 works in synergistic blends with other dibasic acid to provide corrosion protection to iron and steel surfaces. 
Amine and hydroxide salts provide excellent rust control for aqueous applications including engine coolants, metal cleaners and metalworking fluids. 
Our dibasic acid blends, when neutralized into water-based formulations, also exhibit improved foam control and hard water stability compared to most other individual and blended acids.

EMEROX is a range of bio-based polyols (70 - 100% range). 
They are used to manufacture a broad range of end products and applications including flexible foam, rigid foam and elastomers.

These products are based on renewable azelaic (C9 dibasic) acids and other naturally derived acids. 
EMEROX polyols offer a high level of design freedom and can replace petroleum-based polyols. 
They offer enhanced performance properties, increased efficiencies and sustainability.

Uses of EMEROX 1185:

Corrosion Inhibitor:
Triazoles are the workhorse corrosion inhibitors for non-ferrous metals including copper and EMEROX 1185 alloys and aluminum. 

Amine carboxylates have been used for many years to prevent corrosion of ferrous metals. 
The monoacid (2-ethyl)hexanoic acid is a low-cost acid in widespread use. 

Diacids are most commonly used corrosion inhibitors in the market such as sebacic acid (C10) and two formulated blends, EMEROX 1175 and EMEROX 1185. 
Both EMEROX grades are designed with enhanced levelsof undecanedioic acid for superior cost-performance.

Ozone and Dimer Acids
Oleic acid derived from animal or vege - tabile sources is split into azelaic acid (straight chain C9 dicarbxylic acid) and pelargonic acid (straight chain C9 mono fatty acid) by the addition of Ozone. 
EMEROX 1144 is widely used in the formulation of complex greases to generate higher dropping points and excellent heat stability. 

The water-soluble Triethanolamine salt of the azelaic acid based EMEROX 1185 provides excellent steel corrosion protection at treat rates above 0.1 %.
Pelargonic acid EMEROX 1202 is used in the synthesis of high temperature stable polyolesters as an alternative to coconut and palm kernel oil derived capric and caprylic acids and as anti-corrosion inhibitor compounds. 

Dimer fatty acids are produced by the dimerization of oleic fatty acid (C18 ) to give branched liquid dimer fatty acid (C 36, e.g. EMEROX 2003) and is excellent as a corrosion inhibitor and basic component for fuel additives, amongst other applications. 
Approximately 40% of the dimerization by products are monomer fatty acids which can be hydrogenated to branched liquid isostearic acids (EMERSOL 3875). 
These are useful components for the synthesis of biodegradable esters and the formulation of water emulsifiable corrosion inhibitors.
