EMPILAN 2502 is used as a non-ionic surfactant in cosmetic and detergent formulations.
EMPILAN 2502 is used as a foam modifier and stabilizer in detergent formulas as well as a viscosity modifier in shampoos, bubble baths etc.

EMPILAN 2502 is a very good solubilizer of perfumes and essential oils and allows the incorporation of these into aqueous systems.
EMPILAN 2502 contains free glycerin which allows easier cold handling and storage compared to fatty acid derived alkylolamides.

EMPILAN 2502 is used to increase the stability and volume of the foam, also in the presence of hard water and soap.
EMPILAN 2502 is useful for dissolving a wide variety of perfumes and non-polar compounds.
EMPILAN 2502 contains glycerol.

EMPILAN 2502 is coconut diethanolamide produced by the direct amidation of vegetable oil and EMPILAN 2502 therefore contains residual glycerol. 
EMPILAN 2502 is a very good foam-boosting/stabilising agent when used in conjunction with anionic surfactants, such as lauryl sulphates and lauryl ether sulphates. 
EMPILAN 2502 also provides an efficient means of increasing the viscosity of liquid formulations and can be used to pre-solubilise oils and perfumes during formulation.

Applications of EMPILAN 2502:
EMPILAN 2502 is a very good foam-boosting/stabilising agent when used in conjunction with lauryl sulphates and lauryl ether
sulphates in liquid formulations. 

Some examples of these are:
Shampoo formulations,
Bath formulations,
Detergent formulations.

EMPILAN 2502 also improves the texture of the foam. 
The use of EMPILAN 2502 provides an efficient means of increasing the viscosity of liquid formulations. 
EMPILAN 2502 can be used as solubiliser for perfumes and essential oils in cosmetic formulations.

Wetting Ability of EMPILAN 2502:
The wetting ability was determined by the method ISO 8022 “Determination of wetting power by immersion”, commonly referred to as the Draves wetting test. 
The results are expressed as the time elapsed, in seconds, measured at 25°C, with shorter wetting times indicating more efficient wetting agents. 

Foam Characteristics of EMPILAN 2502:
The foam characteristics were determined by the ASTM standard D1173, Ross & Miles foam test method. 
The tests were carried out at a concentration of 1g/L in hard water and readings are expressed as volume of foam in mL, in seconds, at 25°C, at 0 seconds, then again after 60 and 300 seconds. 

Preservation of EMPILAN 2502:
EMPILAN 2502 does not contain a preservative as EMPILAN 2502 is relatively resistant to microbial contamination. 
When EMPILAN 2502 is diluted or incorporated into a formulation we recommend the addition of a preservative approved by the appropriate legislation.

Storage and Handling of EMPILAN 2502:
The recommended storage temperature is between 10°C and 40°C. 
Avoid prolonged heating above 40°C as colour deterioration may occur.

Liquid alcohol ethoxylates are prone to separate and eventually solidify at low temperatures, particularly during prolonged storage. 
In this case, EMPILAN 2502 is recommended that EMPILAN 2502 should be re homogenised before use. 

This is readily achieved by heating EMPILAN 2502. 
The clear point is the minimum temperature at which a homogenous solution can be expected.

Alcohol ethoxylates are chemically stable for at least 12 months in their original packaging. 
Exposure to the atmosphere can cause EMPILAN 2502 to discolour with time, although this will not normally affect the performance. 
Excess alkali and heat are both factors that will accelerate discolouration and EMPILAN 2502 is recommended not to store these products at elevated temperatures for prolonged periods, especially if colour is critical to the application

Standard Pack Sizes of EMPILAN 2502:
EMPILAN 2502 can be delivered in bulk road tankers of upto 23 tonnes nett, although smaller road tanker deliveries may be available upon request.
EMPILAN 2502 may also be available in 1 tonne semi bulk containers.

Open top plastic drums of approximately 220 kilos nett and bung type plastic drums of approximately 210 kilos nett. 
Smaller pack sizes may be available upon request.

First Aid Measures of EMPILAN 2502:

Inhalation:
Provide rest, warmth and fresh air. 
When breathing is difficult, properly trained personnel may assist affected person by administering oxygen. 
Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Ingestion:
Immediately rinse mouth and provide fresh air. 
Drink plenty of water. 

Never give liquid to an unconscious person. 
Do not induce vomiting. 

If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that stomach vomit doesn't enter the lungs. 
Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Skin Contact:
Promptly flush contaminated skin with water. 
Promptly remove clothing if soaked through and flush the skin with water. 

Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. 
Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Eye Contact:
Immediately flush with plenty of water for up to 15 minutes. 
Remove any contact lenses and open eyes wide apart. 

Get medical attention immediately. 
Continue to rinse. 

Fire-Fighting Measures of EMPILAN 2502:

Use fire-extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding materials.

Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Spill Clean Up Methods:
Dam and absorb spillage with sand, sawdust or other absorbent. 
Collect in containers and seal securely.
