ETHOMEEN T/25

Ethhomeen T/25 is an ethoxylated tertiary amine-based surfactant belonging to Nouryon's Ethomeene product family, obtained by ethoxylating the primary oil amine of tallow origin. The product is defined as a tallow amine ethoxylate containing approximately 15 moles of ethylene oxide and is particularly evaluated in emulsification, corrosion prevention, cleaning, water treatment, chemical intermediate, and certain agricultural excipient applications.
The current Nouryon product designation of Ethomeen T/25 is "Polyoxyethylene (15) tallowalkylamines". The product is associated with CAS No 61791-26-2 and ECHA identifies the same general chemical family under the name "Amines, tallow alkyl, ethoxylated" with EC/List No 500-153-8.
Ethhomeene T/25 is not a single pure molecule. The starting raw material of tallow origin consists of fatty alkyl groups with different carbon chain lengths, and the ethoxylation process also produces a certain distribution between the molecules. Therefore, it is not correct to give a single exact molecular formula or a single exact molecular weight for Ethhomeene T/25.
The basic structure of Ethomeen T/25 is based on the union of the long hydrophobic tallow alkyl chain and the hydrophilic polyoxyethylene moiety consisting of approximately 15 ethylene oxide units on the same amine center. This structure gives the product the ability to interact with both oily phases and water phase.
Ethomeen T/25 has a higher degree of ethoxylation than Ethomeen T/15. Therefore, it has higher water compatibility and hydrophilic character. In Nouryon's current agricultural products guide, the hydrophile-lipophile equilibrium value for Ethomeen T/25 is given as approximately 14 and for Ethomeen T/15 as approximately 10.
The higher degree of ethoxylation of the product can reduce the wetting rate compared to Ethomeen T/15 while strengthening its solubility in water and emulsification behavior. In the Nouryon technical data, the surface tension of Ethomeen T/25 in a 0.1% solution is approximately 39 mN/m and the Draves soaking time is given as over 10 minutes, while for Ethomeen T/15 it is reported to be approximately 31 mN/m and 80 seconds.
This difference indicates that Ethomeen T/25 should not be considered as the "stronger version of T/15". The two products have different hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance and different application behavior.
Ethomeen T/25 can be used as an auxiliary corrosion inhibitor and formulation aid, especially in oilfield applications, emulsifier in water treatment applications, excipient in agricultural formulations, and intermediate in the chemical sector.
In Nouryon's current oilfield product guide, Ethomeen T/25 is defined as ethoxylated amine that dissolves in water, has high temperature stability and can be evaluated in cleaning systems.
When purchasing Ethomeen T/25, the decision should not be made solely on the basis of trade name or CAS number. Ethoxylation degree, equivalent mass, color, water content, viscosity, density, pH, solubility, surface tension and current TDS, SDS and COA documents should be evaluated together.

WHAT IS ETHOMEEN T/25?

Ethomeen T/25 is an ethoxylated tallow amine found in Nouryon's Ethomeen family of products.
The chemical family is ethoxylated fatty amines. The trade product name is Ethomeen T/25.
It is given the chemical name Polyoxyethylene (15) Tallowalkylamines.
In Turkish, Tallow containing approximately 15 EO can be defined as Amine Ethoxylate. CAS No is 61791-26-2. EC / List No in ECHA's general substance register is 500-153-8.
Ethhomeene T/25 is tallow amine ethoxylate containing about 15 ethylene oxide units. EO here refers to the ethylene oxide unit.
The product is prepared by ethoxylation of the primary amine of tallow origin.
As a result of ethoxylation, hydroxyethyl and polyoxyethylene chains attached to amine nitrogen are formed.
Simplified general structure: R-N[(CH₂CH₂O)xH][(CH₂CH₂O)yH].
R represents long alkyl chains of tallow origin. x and y represent the distribution of ethylene oxide units on molecules.
The total average ethoxylation level is approximately 15 EO for Ethhomeen T/25. Ethhomeen T/25 is not a monomolecular substance.
Therefore, x and y do not have the same exact value in all molecules. The alkyl chain distribution of tallow raw material is also variable.

The typical alkyl chain distribution in the old European technical sheet is approximately:

C12: 1%

C14: 4%

C16: 31%

C18: 64%

It is given as follows.

These values are typical of the old European production specification and should not be applied as a universal specification to all current Ethomeen T/25 products.
The long alkyl chain of Ethhomeene T/25 forms the hydrophobic part of the molecule.
Ethoxylated chains make up the hydrophilic part.
The amine center has a basic character and can be protonated in an acidic environment. Therefore, the surface active behavior of the product can be affected by the ambient pH.
Nouryon classifies Ethomeen T/25 in the product group "cationic surfactants and fatty amines".
However, the behavior of the product in the form of free amine is not quite the same as that of classical permanently charged quaternary ammonium salts.
Protonation of the amine center in acidic media can increase the cationic character.
In a more neutral or alkaline environment, the hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance of the ethoxylated amine structure is more decisive.
The fact that Ethomeen T/25 contains approximately 15 EO makes the product more hydrophilic than Ethomeen T/15.

For Ethomeen T/25 in the Nouryon agricultural products guide:

Active ingredient: 100%

pH: about 9–11, in 1% aqueous solution

Critical micelle concentration: about 0.03 g/L

Surface tension: approx. 39 mN/m

Contact angle: approx. 71°

Draves soaking time: over 10 minutes

Hydrophile-lipophile equilibrium value: approx. 14

is given.
The product is indicated as water-soluble and partially soluble in vegetable oil at the same source.
These properties indicate that Ethomeen T/25 is a more water-oriented, hydrophilic amine ethoxylate.

CHEMICAL STRUCTURE AND MOLECULAR PROPERTIES OF ETHHOMEEN T/25

The molecular structure of Ethomeen T/25 can be evaluated through three basic parts.
The first part is the long alkyl chain of tallow origin. Since this chain is hydrocarbon, it is prone to interaction with oil, grease and other hydrophobic phases.
The second part is the amine center. Amine nitrogen has a basic character and can accept protons in an acidic environment. This property is important in the pH-dependent surfactant behavior of the product and its adsorption to metal surfaces.
The third part is the hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chain, which consists of about 15 ethylene oxide units. The large number of ether oxygen in this chain can interact with water molecules and improve the compatibility of the product in the water phase.
An important consequence of the overall structure of Ethhomeene T/25 is the presence of both hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions in the same family of molecules.
Through this structure, the product can settle at the oil-water interface and reduce the surface energy between the two phases.
The emulsification effect results from this behavior.
Surfactant molecules that settle around the oil droplet can help reduce the reassembly of the droplets.
The high degree of ethoxylation of Ethhomeen T/25 enhances its water-phase preferring character.
For this reason, Ethomeen T/25 is described as soluble in water but only partially soluble in vegetable oil.
Ethhomeene T/15, on the other hand, may have stronger compatibility with the oil phase because it has a lower ethoxylation degree.
This molecular difference can directly impact the roles of the two products in emulsion design.
The amine group of Ethomeen T/25 can also interact with metal surfaces.
Adsorption of the protonated amine structure to the surface in acidic media can contribute to the formation of an organic layer between the metal and the corrosive liquid.
The hydrophobic character of their long alkyl chain can help reduce the direct contact of this layer with water.
For this reason, Nouryon positions the product as an auxiliary corrosion inhibitor and formulation aid in oilfield applications.
Ethhomeen T/25 contains approximately 15 EOs, creating a different balance between corrosion inhibition and water solubility compared to very low ethoxylated amines.
Whether the product is preferred in the anti-corrosion formulation should not be determined solely by the degree of ethoxylation.
The type of metal, pH of the environment, temperature, salinity, acid type and other components used should be evaluated together.

Key properties of Ethomeen T/25 at the molecular level include:

Ethoxylated amine structure containing about 15 EO

Long tallow-based hydrophobic alkyl chains

Hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chains interacting with water

Protonizable tertiary amine center

High compatibility in water

Adsorption to the oil-water interface

Emulsification ability

Tendency to adsorption to metal surface

Contribution to corrosion prevention systems

Can be used as a high-temperature formulation aid

Nouryon's current oilfield product guide also describes Ethomeen T/25 as a water-soluble liquid.
The viscosity of the product varies depending on the temperature.
At low temperature, viscosity may increase and the flow behavior of the product may change.
Therefore, if the warehouse or production area is too cold, the product should be checked for uniformity before use.
In the old product sheet, it is recommended to homogenize Ethomeen T/25 before use, if the entire packaging is not to be used.

HOW DOES ETHOENE T/25 WORK AT THE MOLECULAR LEVEL?

The basic working mechanism of Ethomeen T/25 is based on the formation of a surfactant layer at the oil-water or solid-liquid interface.
The long alkyl chain of the molecule originating from tallow tends to the hydrophobic phase, while the polyoxyethylene part, which contains about 15 EO, interacts with the water phase. Thus, the molecule can act as an interfacing substance between two incompatible phases.
When oil droplets are dispersed in water, Ethomeen T/25 molecules can settle at the oil-water boundary. This can help reduce interface tension and keep small droplets dispersed for longer periods of time.
This mechanism is particularly important for emulsification purposes in water treatment, process fluids, and certain oil additive formulations.
It may have an advantage over Ethomeen T/15 or T/12 in more hydrophilic emulsion systems because the product's high degree of ethoxylation increases its compatibility with the water phase.
The amine center provides another important function. In an acidic environment, the amine group that receives protons can gain a positive charge. This can strengthen the interaction with metal or other polar surfaces.
Molecules adsorbed onto the metal surface can contribute to the formation of an organic film on the surface. This film can help reduce the rate of corrosion by limiting the direct reach of the corrosive liquid onto the metal surface.
In Nouryon's oilfield guide, Ethomeen T/25 is therefore classified as an "auxiliary corrosion inhibitor and formulation aid".
Ethomeen T/25 specified as stable at high temperature can be important in applications such as oil production, refining, and hot process cleaning.
However, the expression "high temperature stable" does not mean that the product is chemically unlimited resistant under all temperature conditions. The actual operating temperature should be determined based on the manufacturer's data and formulation test.
Ethomeen T/25 lowers surface tension but does not provide as fast wetting as T/15.
This is an important result of the high EO content of the product.
Ethomeen T/25 is more hydrophilic and can provide an advantage in terms of emulsification, while Ethomeen T/15 can exhibit stronger and faster wetting behavior.
Therefore, product selection should not be made solely with a "more EO is better" approach.

The primary functions of Ethomeen T/25 in formulation include:

Supporting emulsification

Improving water phase compatibility

Contributing to anti-corrosion systems

Supporting cleaning formulations

Assisting in the dispersion of oil and process fluids

To be used as a chemical intermediate

Acting as an excipient in agricultural formulations

To be able to be used as an auxiliary agent in high temperature formulations

IN WHICH SECTORS IS ETHOMEEN T/25 USED?

The main uses of Ethomeen T/25 specified by Nouryon are chemical intermediates, agricultural formulations, water treatment, and oilfield chemicals.

Main areas of use:

Production of chemical intermediates

Water treatment chemicals

Oil-water emulsion systems

Petroleum production chemicals

Refinery chemicals

Acid cleaning systems

Anti-corrosion formulations

Industrial cleaning systems

Metal surface formulations

Oil additive formulations

Agricultural auxiliary formulations

Water-soluble agricultural concentrates

Nouryon positions Ethomeen T/25 as an emulsifier in the water treatment sector on its current product page.
In oilfield applications, the main functions of the product are specified as corrosion prevention and cleaning.
In the old European technical sheet, it is stated that the product can be used as an emulsifier in agricultural formulations, metal surface formulations and oil additives.
However, technical compliance and regulatory compliance are not the same thing in agricultural use. The current plant protection and auxiliary substance legislation in the country where the final formulation will be used should be checked separately.

WATER TREATMENT, EMULSIFICATION AND PROCESS APPLICATIONS OF ETHOMEEN T/25

The high degree of ethoxylation of Ethomeen T/25 provides a significant advantage in water-compatible emulsion systems.
In its current product page, Nouryon describes the primary function of Ethomeen T/25 in water treatment applications as emulsification.
The main task of the emulsifier is to stabilize the interface between two phases that do not naturally mix with each other.
The long alkyl chain of Ethhomeene T/25 tends to the oil phase, while the ethoxylated chains can remain in the water phase. This structure can help the oil droplets to disperse more stably in the aqueous phase.

Product in water treatment or process chemistry application:

Dispersing oily components in the aqueous system,

emulsifying process oils,

to the inclusion of hydrophobic auxiliaries in the water phase,

Keeping certain chemical packages homogeneous

can help.

However, the same emulsion stability is not achieved by using the same amount of Ethomeen T/25 for each oil.

The polarity, viscosity, and density of the oil are important.

The pH and salinity of the water phase are important.

Temperature matters.

The presence of other surfactants may alter the emulsion behavior.
Therefore, in practice, the emulsion type and stability should be determined by laboratory trial.
The high cloud point of Ethomeene T/25, measured within 10% NaCl, provides useful technical information in some electrolyte-containing systems.
In the old technical sheet, the cloud point of 1% Ethomeen T/25 at 10% NaCl is given as approximately 82 °C.
This value refers to specific test conditions and does not directly indicate the salt tolerance of all formulations.

OILFIELD, CORROSION PREVENTION AND CLEANING APPLICATIONS OF ETHOMEEN T/25

Oil production and refining applications are among the important applications of Ethomeen T/25 that have been validated at the moment.
Oilfield equipment may come into contact with water, salt, acidic components, and high temperature. These conditions can increase the risk of corrosion on metal surfaces.
The amine group of Ethomeene T/25 can help to adsorb to the metal surface. Its long alkyl chains, on the other hand, can contribute to the formation of a more hydrophobic organic layer on the surface.
Therefore, the product can be regarded as an auxiliary corrosion inhibitor and formulation aid in anti-corrosion formulations.

Nouryon's current oilfield product guide specifically for the Ethomeen T/25:

Water-soluble liquid structure,

high temperature stability,

Compliance with cleaning applications

specifies its features.

In acid cleaning applications, the coexistence of surfactant and anti-corrosion functions can be advantageous.
It can help dissolve acid, mineral, or corrosion residues, while Ethomeen T/25 can adsorb to the metal surface, contributing to the reduction of base metal loss.
However, it should not be assumed that the product alone is sufficient corrosion inhibitor for all acid cleaning systems.

Actual formulation performance:

Acid type and concentration,

metal alloy,

operating temperature,

contact time,

Ethomeen T/25 level,

Other corrosion inhibitors

should be verified through.

Although the high temperature stability of Ethomeen T/25 is specified in the nouryon guide, the exact usable temperature range should be determined according to the formulation and application.

IS ETHOMEEN T/25 USED IN FOOD, COSMETICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS?

Ethomeen T/25 is mainly a technical and industrial surfactant raw material.
Nouryon's current product page does not claim the use of food additives, pharmaceutical excipients or direct cosmetic raw materials for the product.
Therefore, the use of standard Ethomeen T/25 directly in food formulation should not be considered appropriate.

It should not be assumed to be a food grade product.

It should not be assumed to be pharmaceutical grade.

Cosmetic suitability should also not be inferred only on the basis of the general chemical family or CAS number.
Although historical cosmetic names can be found for ethoxylated tallow amines, this does not imply the current cosmetic suitability of Ethhomeen T/25 commercial grade.
If a cosmetic or personal care application is considered, the product's current manufacturer's legislation documents, INCI equivalent and target market legislation should be verified separately.
The main current uses of Ethomeen T/25 are chemical intermediates, water treatment, oilfield applications and certain agricultural auxiliary systems.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF ETHOMEEN T/25

Ethomeen T/25 can be valued in industry as emulsifier, formulation aid, corrosion prevention aid and chemical intermediate as more hydrophilic ethoxylated oil amine.

Its key functions in industrial applications include:

Aiding in the emulsification of oily ingredients in water

Supporting corrosion prevention in oilfield formulations

Supporting the formulation of acid cleaning systems

Acting as an auxiliary agent in process chemicals used at high temperature

To be used as an emulsifier in water treatment systems

To provide surfactant additives in metal surface formulations

To be used as an excipient in agricultural formulations

Acting as an intermediate in the production of other surfactants or functional chemicals

The following formulation parameters should be considered together when using Ethomeen T/25:

Ethomeen T/25 quantity

System pH

Amount of electrolytes

Type and amount of oil phase

Type and concentration of acid

Metal type

Process temperature

Other surfactants

Solvent system

Emulsion stability

Foam behavior

Corrosion rate

Phase separation

Viscosity

Storage stability

TDS

SDS

COA

The high hydrophilic character of Ethomeen T/25 does not mean that it will be the optimum emulsifier on its own in systems with a high proportion of oil phases.
It can be used in combination with more lipophilic auxiliary surfactants if necessary.
Such mixtures should be evaluated by laboratory emulsion stability tests.

WHAT PROBLEMS CAN ETHOMEEN T/25 SOLVE?

Ethomeen T/25 can help solve a variety of technical problems, especially in systems where water compatibility, emulsification, high temperature formulation and corrosion control are required.

The oil phase cannot be distributed stably in water

The hydrophilic ethoxylate structure of Ethhomeen T/25 can help stabilize the oil-water interface and disperse the oil droplets in the aqueous phase.

Lower ethoxylated amine does not dissolve enough in water

Because Ethomeen T/25 contains about 15 EO, it provides a higher hydrophilic character than lower ethoxylated products such as T/12 or T/15.

Oilfield formulation needs to promote anti-corrosion performance

Ethomeen T/25 can be considered as an auxiliary corrosion inhibitor thanks to its amine structure that can adsorb to metal surfaces.

Acid cleaning formulation requires both cleaning and surface protection support

The product can help to combine surfactant behavior and metal surface adsorption in the same formulation.

Process formulation rises to high temperature

Nouryon describes Ethomeen T/25 as a formulation aid with high temperature stability in its oilfield product portfolio.

Phase separation during emulsion storage

Phase stability can be improved by optimizing the amount of Ethomeen T/25 and its ratio with other emulsifiers. However, the type of oil, pH and electrolyte level should also be evaluated together.

Surfactant becomes cloudy in the saline system

The clouding behavior of Ethomeen T/25 in salt-containing systems can be advantageous; however, the salt tolerance of the final formulation must be tested separately.

Ethomeen T/15 remains too lipophilic in the system

Ethomeen T/25, with its higher ethoxylation level, can be considered as a more hydrophilic alternative.

The wetting speed of the Ethomeen T/25 remains low

In this case, a combination with a lower ethoxylated and faster wetting co-surfactant can be considered. Ethomeen T/15 performs differently in this respect.

The formulation foams too much

The foam of Ethomeen T/25 can decrease significantly over time; in the old Ross-Miles data, the initial foam was about 55 mm, but after 5 minutes it decreases to 15 mm. However, the actual formulation foam depends on the other ingredients.

Not every emulsification or corrosion problem can be solved by simply increasing the amount of Ethomeen T/25.

All formulation and process conditions should be evaluated together.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN USING ETHOMEEN T/25

When using Ethomeen T/25, product identity, ethoxylation degree, pH, temperature and compatibility with other formulation ingredients should be checked.

The following points should be evaluated during use:

Ethomeen T/25 commercial grade must be verified.

CAS No 61791-26-2 should be checked.

It should be verified that there are about 15 EO-containing products.

The active ingredient ratio should be checked.

The equivalent mass must be checked.

The color value should be examined.

The amount of water should be controlled.

Viscosity and density should be considered.

System pH should be measured.

The amount of acid or alkali should be determined in a controlled manner.

The amount of electrolyte should be taken into account.

Emulsion stability should be tested.

The anti-corrosion performance must be verified on the actual metal.

High temperature stability should be tested under application conditions.

Foam behavior should be evaluated.

Product homogeneity should be checked at low temperature.

The change in phase or appearance should be monitored during storage.

TDS should be examined.

SDS should be examined.

Batch values must be verified via COA.

The old European technical sheet recommends that Ethomeen T/25 be homogenized before use if the entire packaging is not to be used.
This recommendation shows the importance of using the product in a completely homogeneous state after storage.
Ethomeen T/25 should not be directly modified with other ethoxylated amines only because the CAS number is the same.
The degree of ethoxylation is the basic parameter in formulation behavior.

INITIAL FORMULATION APPROACHES FOR ETHOMEEN T/25

The following examples are initial approaches to illustrate how Ethomeen T/25 can be evaluated during formulation and process development. These are not validated commercial recipes, manufacturing instructions, or final formulations that comply with regulations.
The actual usage level should be determined by laboratory study based on oil phase, pH, electrolyte content, metal type, temperature, and target performance.

EXAMPLE 1: USAGE LEVEL SCREENING OF ETHOMEEN T/25 OIL-WATER EMULSION

Purpose: To compare the effect of Ethomeen T/25 amount on oil droplet formation, emulsion appearance, and storage stability.

Starting ingredients (% by weight; products are weighed in the commercial form in which they are used):

Check A / Trial B / Trial C / Trial D:

Deionized water: 83.50% / 83.00% / 82.50% / 81.50%

Model oil phase (mineral oil): 15.00% / 15.00% / 15.00% / 15.00%

Ethomeen T/25 (approx. 100% active): 0.00% / 0.50% / 1.00% / 2.00%

Auxiliary nonionic emulsifier (fatty alcohol ethoxylate): 1.00% / 1.00% / 1.00% / 1.00%

Sodium chloride: 0.20% / 0.20% / 0.20% / 0.20%

Sodium citrate (pH buffer): 0.30% / 0.30% / 0.30% / 0.30%

TOTAL: 100.00% / 100.00% / 100.00% / 100.00%

The amount of water is balanced as the Ethomeen T/25 level increases; the fat, co-emulsifier and electrolyte ratios are constant. pH is measured in all samples and maintained within the same target range as much as possible; no separate pH adjuster addition was calculated here. Since the co-emulsifier was present in the control sample, this experiment isolates the Ethomeen T/25 additive, it is not a control without emulsifier. The ratios are for laboratory pre-screening.

Application approach:

The water and oil phases are prepared separately.

Ethomeen T/25 is added to the system according to the determined formulation plan.

The same temperature and mixing conditions are used in all samples.

The first emulsion appearance is recorded.

Droplet size is measured if possible.

After 24 hours and 7 days, phase separation is checked.

Low and high temperature storage test is applied.

Accelerated stability with centrifugation is comparable.

The system, which provides sufficient stability with the lowest amount of Ethomeen T/25, is taken to subsequent tests.

EXAMPLE 2: ETHOMEEN T/25 ACID CLEANING AND CORROSION SCREENING

Objective: To evaluate the effect of Ethhomeene T/25 level on metal loss and formulation stability in acid environment.

Starting ingredients (wt%; aqueous citric acid-based model test solution):

Check A / Trial B / Trial C / Trial D:

Deionized water: 94.75% / 94.65% / 94.50% / 94.25%

Citric acid (anhydrous): 5.00% / 5.00% / 5.00% / 5.00%

Ethomeen T/25 (approx. 100% active): 0.00% / 0.10% / 0.25% / 0.50%

Co-ionic surfactant (fatty alcohol ethoxylate): 0.25% / 0.25% / 0.25% / 0.25%

Auxiliary corrosion inhibitor: 0.00% / 0.00% / 0.00% / 0.00%

TOTAL: 100.00% / 100.00% / 100.00% / 100.00%

Metal sample, test temperature and contact time are not formulation raw materials; percentage total is not included and is kept constant in all trials. In this screening, only the Ethomeen T/25 ratio is changed; balancing is done with the amount of water. The pH of the citric acid model medium and its effect on the metal should be verified before the experiment. It should not be assumed that Ethomeen T/25 alone will provide corrosion protection; the ratios are not verified commercial recipes.

Application approach:

Metal coupons are cleaned, dried, and the starting masses are recorded.

Ethhomeene T/25 is added to the acid system at different levels.

Samples are tested at the same temperature and for the same amount of time.

At the end of the test, the metal coupons are properly cleaned and dried.

Mass loss is compared.

The metal surface appearance is examined.

The formulation is checked for precipitation or phase separation.

Cleaning performance is evaluated separately.

The system that provides sufficient cleaning performance with the lowest metal loss is determined.

ETHOMEEN T/25 ALTERNATIVES AND COMPARISON

When selecting the alternative for Ethhomeen T/25, one should not look at the CAS number alone. The degree of ethoxylation, hydrophilic character, water solubility, emulsification, wetting, corrosion prevention, and temperature behavior should be evaluated together.

ETHOMEEN T/25 AND ETHOMEEN T/15

Ethhomeen T/15 and Ethhomeen T/25 are in the same tallow amine ethoxylate family but have different levels of ethoxylation.
Ethomeen T/15 contains about 5 EOs, while Ethomeen T/25 contains about 15 EOs.
Therefore, Ethomeen T/25 is more hydrophilic.
In the Nouryon agricultural guide, the hydrophile-lipophile equilibrium value is given as approximately 10 for T/15 and approximately 14 for T/25.
T/15 provides faster wetting. T/25, on the other hand, can provide advantages in terms of water compatibility and more hydrophilic emulsification.
Two products should not be exchanged one-to-one by weight in the same formulation.

ETHOMEEN T/25 AND ETHOMEEN T/12

Ethomeen T/12 tallow is in the structure of alkylamine + approximately 2 EO.
Ethomeen T/25, on the other hand, contains about 15 EOs.
T/12 is much more lipophilic in character and is defined as a fat-soluble product in the oilfield product guide.
T/25 is stated as water-soluble.
Therefore, T/12 may be advantageous in more oil-phase-heavy systems, while T/25 may be more suitable in aqueous formulations.
Direct substitution should not be done due to the large difference in ethoxylation levels.

ETHOMEEN T/25 AND ETHOMEEN C/25

Ethomeen C/25 and Ethomeen T/25 are amine ethoxylate products containing approximately 15 EO.
The main difference is the source of the hydrophobic alkyl chain.
Ethomeen C/25 is based on alkylamine of coconut origin.
Ethhomeen T/25 is based on tallow-based alkylamine.
The alkyl chain distribution of coconut origin has a shorter average chain structure than the tallow alkyl distribution.
This difference can alter solubility, emulsification, and surfactant behavior.
The two products should not be considered equivalent as they contain only 15 EOs.

ETHOMEEN T/25 AND ETHOMEEN O/12

Ethhomeene is the more lipophilic product in the structure of O/12 oleyl amine + about 2 EO.
Ethomeen T/25 is noticeably more hydrophilic as it contains about 15 EO.
Ethomeen O/12 is positioned as an oil-soluble and acid cleaning auxiliary product in oilfield applications.
Ethomeen T/25 is defined as a formulation aid that is water-soluble, stable at high temperature and suitable for cleaning systems.
Therefore, product selection should be made according to the structure of the phase to be used.

ETHOMEEN T/25 AND CLASSIC FATTY ALCOHOL ETHOXYLATES

Fatty alcohol ethoxylates are nonionic surfactants that do not contain amine groups.
Ethhomeen T/25 is ethoxylated fat amine that carries a tertiary amine center.
The protonability of the amine center distinguishes Ethhomeene T/25 from classical fatty alcohol ethoxylates.
This property can provide technical advantage in metal surface adsorption and corrosion prevention formulations.
Fatty alcohol ethoxylates may exhibit stronger or different wetting behavior in some cleaning applications.
Therefore, it should not be assumed that alcohol ethoxylate with the same EO number and Ethomeen T/25 will give the same performance.

In the old European product specification, a maximum of 25 Gardner colors, an equivalent mass of 7–869 g/eq and a maximum of 952% water are given for Ethomeen T/1.
These values are useful references for assessing product identity and batch consistency.
However, instead of using the old technical sheet directly as a purchase specification, the current Nouryon specification should be requested.
The COA must show the actual analysis results of the specific delivery batch.
TDS describes standard product specifications and typical values.
SDS contain safety, storage and handling information.
The functions of these three documents are different and should be evaluated together.

STORAGE AND HANDLING OF ETHOMEEN T/25

Storage: Ethomeen T/25 should be stored in clean, dry and suitable sealed packaging.

Temperature: At very low temperatures, the viscosity of the product may increase and its physical appearance may change. In the old European technical sheet, the pour point is given as approximately 5 °C and the clarification point as approximately 15 °C.

Homogeneity: If the entire packaging is not to be used at once, it should be ensured that the product is homogeneous before use. In the old manufacturer's leaflet, it is recommended that Ethomeen T/25 be homogenized before use.

High temperature: Unnecessarily high storage temperatures should be avoided. The presence of high temperature stability of the product in oilfield applications does not mean that it should be stored at uncontrolled high temperature for a long time.

Water and contamination: Unwanted water, acid, alkali or other formulation raw materials should be prevented from entering the packaging.

Acids: Contact with acids can protonate the amine center, altering the ionic and surfactant behavior of the product. This change should be done in a controlled manner within the formulation.

Oxidizers: Must be kept separate from strong oxidizers.

Packaging: Current drum, IBC or other packaging options must be verified by the supplier prior to order.

FIFO: First-in, first-out principle and batch tracking should be applied.

Transport: The transport classification must be verified from the current SDS document of the purchased Ethomeen T/25 product.

ETHOMEEN T/25 SAFETY INFORMATION

Ethomeen T/25 is a concentrated industrial surfactant raw material and the current manufacturer's SDS should be taken as a basis for safe use.
In the Ethomeen T/25 safety documents published on behalf of Nouryon, oral acute toxicity, severe eye damage, inhalation acute toxicity and long-term hazard to the aquatic environment classifications have been reported for the product.
For this reason, the product should not be considered as a harmless detergent raw material.
Contact of the concentrated product with eyes should be avoided.
Skin contact should be limited.
Exposure control is especially important in processes where vapors or aerosols may occur.
