GECEDRAL ABE

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline solid (powder) setting accelerator in the GECEDRAL product family offered by ALUCOM AG (formerly BK Giulini, Ludwigshafen). It is used in cement binder systems, especially in shotcrete applications, to accelerate setting and provide early strength gain. GECEDRAL ABE can be evaluated alone or mixed with alkaline carbonates, rock flour and other additives.
For NIGHT-DRY ABE, the manufacturer states that the product is particularly suitable for the dry spraying method. Since it dissolves easily in water, it can also be used as a liquid accelerator in the wet spraying method, either alone or mixed with alkaline carbonate. This feature makes the product applicable in both powder and solution form.
GECEDRAL ABE is in a different group from alkali-free liquid accelerators (such as GECEDRAL F series). Alkaline accelerators can set very quickly; on the other hand, long-term strength reduction due to high alkali input, high pH and worker safety issues should be evaluated separately. For this reason, product selection should be made according to the application method, cement type and occupational safety requirements.
Process suitability for GECEDRAL ABE is not determined solely by dosage. Cement type and composition, water/cement ratio, aggregate moisture, mixing temperature, dry or wet spray method, nozzle conditions, and other additives together affect setting time, splashback amount, and ultimate strength. Excessive dosing can result in sudden loss of setting and strength drop.
For safety reasons, GECEDRAL ABE should be treated as an alkaline powder. Handling should be done assuming that it may carry a risk of irritation or burns in contact with skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Current SDS should be used for classification, labeling and transportation information.

WHAT IS NIGHTERRAL ABE?

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline solid setting accelerator that shortens the setting time by accelerating hydration reactions in cement binder systems. In shotcrete, fast setting is required for fresh concrete to adhere to the surface, form a thick layer and gain carrying capacity in a short time. GECEDRAL ABE is a product developed for this need.
The accelerator approach is different from plasticizer and retarding additives. NIGHTTIME ABE changes the dissolution and precipitation balance of cement phases and helps the rapid formation of phases containing calcium aluminate and sulfate in the early period. Therefore, its effect depends on the chemical composition of the cement.
GECEDRAL ABE is offered together with GECEDRAL ABE-R in the "alkaline powder setting accelerators" group of ALUCOM AG. Alkali-free powder products (such as GECEDRAL BZ 111, L, AS, AS 23) are used as both accelerators and thixotropic agents in areas such as floor adhesives, prefabricated elements, plaster and repair mortars. These groups should not be used interchangeably with the same dosage.
The term OVERNIGHT ABE describes a specific commercial product; however, the exact composition, alkali content and impurity profile of the product are given in the manufacturer's current TDS and SDS documents. When selecting a product, not only the trade name, but also the values in these documents and the trial results in the target application should be taken into account.

CHEMICAL STRUCTURE AND MOLECULAR PROPERTIES OF GECEDRAL ABE

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline inorganic product that acts as an accelerator in cement systems. Accelerators in this class are often referred to in conjunction with components such as aluminate and alkaline carbonate; however, since the exact composition for GECEDRAL ABE is given in the manufacturer's documentation, no hypothetical formula is given in this text.
The effect of alkaline accelerators is generally based on the rapid passage of aluminum and alkali ions into the cement paste in a high pH environment. These ions interact with calcium and sulfate ions in the cement and provide rapid precipitation and solidification in the early period. The effect of nightal ABE is also evaluated within the framework of this general mechanism.
Rapid onset of hydration can increase heat output. Temperature development in thick spray layers can have an effect on crack formation and long-term strength. For this reason, layer thickness and ambient temperature should also be monitored in applications where NIGHTERAL ABE is used.
With GECEDRAL ABE, a decrease in long-term strength can be seen due to the amount of alkali entering the system and rapid early phase formation. This effect depends on the dosage, cement type and curing conditions. The final performance must be verified by strength tests of 28 days and longer.

Suitable method: Dry spraying; as a liquid accelerator in wet spraying.

Ingredients that can be used with: Alkaline carbonates, rock flour, and other additives (manufacturer's information).

Recommended dosage: According to the manufacturer's TDS document; In the general literature, a range of approximately 3–6% (based on cement weight) is given for aluminate-based alkaline accelerators.
All of these values should be verified with the TDS and SDS of the exact product to be purchased. For GECEDRAL ABE, data such as bulk density, pH, moisture, dissolution rate and detailed composition are determined according to the commercial batch. The general literature is for guidance on dosage; the exact value is determined by setting trials with cement.

HOW DOES GECEDRAL ABE WORK AT THE MOLECULAR LEVEL?

Setting acceleration is the co-occurrence of three processes: the dissolution of the accelerator in water in the cement paste, the dissolution ions altering the hydration balance of the cement phases, and the fast-precipitating hydrate phases solidifying the structure. NIGHTRAGE ABE is the alkaline component that initiates this chain.
When cement grains come into contact with water, hydration begins on their surface. Aluminate and alkali ions rapidly introduced into the environment disrupt the ion balance in the solution and cause the calcium aluminate hydrate and ettringite-like phases to precipitate rapidly. These phases increase the consistency of the fresh mixture in a short time.
Since NIGHTTIME ABE is added to the mixture in powder form in dry spraying, the accelerator dissolves and the reaction begins as soon as water is added in the nozzle. For this reason, the setting time can be very short from the moment of contact with water and nozzle conditions directly affect the result.
In wet spraying, GECEDRAL ABE is added to the mixture in solution form at the nozzle. Solution concentration, dosing rate and contact time with the mixture determine the homogeneous distribution of the accelerator. Insufficient mixing may cause regional setting differences and increased splashback.

CLASSIFICATION OF SOCKET ACCELERATOR SYSTEMS

Shotcrete accelerators are divided into two main groups according to their chemical structure: alkaline accelerators and alkali-free accelerators. Alkaline systems include aluminate, silicate and carbonate-based systems. Those that do not contain alkali are mostly based on aluminum sulfate or aluminum hydroxysulfate.
GECEDRAL ABE is in the alkaline accelerator group. This group has a high pH and can set very quickly; however, it also has disadvantages such as alkali ingress, corrosive character and long-term loss of strength. Alkali-free systems, on the other hand, generally have a lower pH and provide advantages in terms of worker safety and long-term durability.
According to the application method, accelerators are also classified as powder and liquid. Powder accelerators are common in dry spraying and liquid accelerators are common in wet spraying. GECEDRAL ABE is a flexible product that can be evaluated in both methods as it dissolves easily in water.

IN WHICH SECTORS IS GECEDRAL ABE USED?

Tunnel construction; mining; slope and rock stabilization; retaining structures; canal and dam repairs; reinforced concrete repair and reinforcement; pool and tank linings; non-refractory concrete spray applications and other works that require rapid setting in cement binder systems are the main evaluation areas.
The use of NIGHTTIME ABE is not carried out in the same way in every application. Fast adhesion and early strength in tunnels and mines, surface compatibility and limitation of strength loss in repair, and fast bearing capacity in slope stabilization come to the fore.
In closed environments, especially in tunnels and mines, the control of alkaline dust and aerosol becomes important for worker health. The widespread use of the product is not in itself proof of standard compliance for a specific application.

APPLICATIONS OF DRY SHOTCRETE

In the dry spray method, cement, aggregate and accelerator are mixed dry and transported by air to the nozzle; water is added in the nozzle. NIGHTTIME ABE is particularly suitable for this method, according to the manufacturer, and is often used mixed with alkaline carbonates, rock flour and other additives.
In the dry method, NIGHTERAL ABE should be homogeneously distributed in the dry mixture. Regional condensation in the mixture may cause inconsistent setting and strength differences. If the aggregate moisture is high, the accelerator may react prematurely; therefore, aggregate moisture should be controlled.
Dust formation and splashback are important parameters in dry spraying. As the dosage of NIGHTTIME ABE increases, the setting accelerates, but the risk of strength degradation and worker exposure may also increase. The dosage should be determined by considering the target setting time and the final strength balance.
The interaction of GECEDRAL ABE with the cement type and nozzle water amount in dry spraying should be verified by trials. The same dosage can give different setting times in different cements.

WET SPRAYING AND USE AS A LIQUID ACCELERATOR

In the wet spraying method, ready-mixed concrete is pumped and added in the accelerator nozzle. Since NIGHTTIME ABE dissolves easily in water, it can be used as a liquid accelerator alone or mixed with alkaline carbonate in this method. Solution concentration and stability are determined according to the application.
While preparing the solution, heat and alkaline properties should be taken into account during dissolution. The storage period, precipitate formation and suitability of the prepared solution for the dosing pump should be tested. Keeping the concentration high may cause precipitation or pump clogging in some cases.
The dosing rate of the GECEDRAL ABE solution should be synchronized with the flow rate of the concrete. Insufficient dosing does not provide sufficient setting, while excessive dosing may result in rapid setting and subsequent loss of strength. Calibration should be done regularly.
In wet spraying, concrete consistency, plasticizer type and cement amount change the accelerator effectiveness. NIGHTTIME ABE trials should be done with the real concrete recipe to be used.

TUNNEL, MINE, SLOPE STABILIZATION AND REPAIR APPLICATIONS

In tunnel and mining applications, shotcrete is used to quickly support the rock surface after excavation. In these works, accelerators such as GECEDRAL ABE ensure that the concrete adheres to the surface and gains early strength. Fast adhesion is especially important for application on upper surfaces (ceiling).
In slope and rock stabilization, NIGHTDRAL ABE can be evaluated when thick layer and rapid safety gain are required. There is a risk of washout in areas where water is increasing; therefore, the choice of accelerator should be considered together with groundwater conditions.
The use of NIGHTTIME ABE in repair applications should be evaluated in terms of compatibility with existing concrete, shrinkage and long-term strength. Alkali ingress can be critical with aggregates at risk of alkali-silica reaction.
Mechanical requirements vary depending on the application. For some jobs, quick setting is mandatory for safety, while for others, ultimate strength and durability are priorities. For GECEDRAL ABE, therefore, the goal is not only the shortest setting time.

IMPORTANCE OF EFFICACY, DOSAGE AND CEMENT COMPLIANCE

NIGHTTIME ABE effectiveness; It depends on the cement type and composition, water/cement ratio, temperature, aggregate moisture and other additives. The same dosage can give very different setting times in different cements. The balance of aluminate and sulfate in cement is one of the main factors that determine the effect.
As the dosage increases, the setting accelerates, but the relationship is not linear. Additional dosage after a certain point does not reduce the setting time, on the contrary, it may cause loss of strength and irregularity in the mixture. For this reason, the setting start and end times should be determined by dosage scanning.
GECEDRAL ABE, an alkaline accelerator, increases the total amount of alkali in the system. This situation should be evaluated in terms of long-term strength, alkali-aggregate reaction and white salt (effluorescence) formation. Alternatives should be examined in projects where alkali content should be limited.
Temperature significantly changes accelerator effectiveness. The setting slows down in cold weather and accelerates in hot weather. NIGHTTIME ABE trials should be performed under conditions close to the temperature of the application environment.

IS GECEDRAL ABE USED IN FOOD, COSMETICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS?

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline setting accelerator developed for the construction industry. It is not suitable for use in food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical formulations and is not recommended for these areas.
The use of cement-binder materials in structures (water tanks, pipes) that come into contact with drinking water is subject to the relevant national legislation and approval requirements. The suitability of a system containing GECEDRAL ABE for drinking water contact must also be documented; the general technical sheet is not sufficient for this.
If consideration is being considered for floor and wall repairs in food production facilities, the food hygiene and contact conditions of the final coating should be evaluated separately.

PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

The main parameters are: NIGHTTIME ABE dosage, cement type and amount, water/cement ratio, aggregate moisture, temperature, spraying method, nozzle conditions, accelerator concentration and other additives.
The target is the properties to be measured in concrete: setting start and end time, early strength development, 1-day and 7-day strength, 28-day strength, splashback rate, adhesion, dust formation, layer thickness and surface appearance.
In comparative samples, the cement batch, aggregate, amount of water, temperature, mixing time, and sample preparation conditions should be standardized. The effect of NIGHTERAL ABE should not be explained only by the difference in dosage between samples prepared under different conditions.

WHAT PROBLEMS CAN GECEDRAL ABE HELP SOLVE?

Shotcrete does not stick on the ceiling or vertical surface: In the appropriate dosage, GECEDRAL ABE can increase adhesion by shortening the setting time.

Early strength is insufficient: Thanks to its fast setting and early phase formation, it can help to gain carrying capacity in a short time.

Thick layer cannot be applied: Rapid consistency increase can contribute to increasing layer thickness.

Backsplash is high: Fast adhesion can reduce backsplash; however, excessive dosing may be counterproductive.

Accelerator dispensing is difficult in dry spraying: GECEDRAL ABE, which is easily soluble in water and available in powder form, can be applied to the dry mixture.

A solution needs to be prepared from a powder accelerator in wet spraying: GECEDRAL ABE can also be used as a solution.

Need quick attachment to the surface with water leakage: A quick outlet can help reduce washing out under a leak.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN USING NIGHTERAL ABE

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline powder. It may carry the risk of irritation or burns in contact with skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Protective gloves, eye protection, dust protective mask and protective clothing should be used in handling; local suction and ventilation should be provided.
The product may react with moisture. In open packaging, it may absorb moisture, clump and reduce its effectiveness. After use, the packaging should be tightly closed and the product should be stored in a dry environment. Contact with carbon dioxide can also change product quality over time.
NIGHTTIME ABE may heat when dissolving in water and the solution is alkaline. While preparing the solution, the product should be added slowly to the water and splashing should be prevented. The compatibility of the solution with metal and aluminum surfaces should be checked.
The setting time changes when the dosage, cement, or ambient temperature changes. The compatibility of all components in the recipe must be verified. The use of OVERNIGHT ABE does not prove the final strength, durability, or standard compliance of the concrete; separate tests are required.

RELEASE TIME, EARLY RESISTANCE AND TESTING APPROACHES

Setting time is the primary performance indicator in most applications; however, it is not sufficient on its own. NIGHTTIME ABE effect should be evaluated by early strength development as well as setting start and end times. Needle penetration and similar methods are used in setting and early strength measurements for shotcrete according to the relevant standards.
Early strength is monitored from the first minutes to the first days in sprayed samples. Compressive strengths of 1-day, 7-day and 28-day are compared. For alkaline accelerators such as GECEDRAL ABE, the ratio of 28-day strength to reference without accelerator is particularly important.
Bounce back is measured by the amount of material that falls on a given surface. Durability tests such as adhesion strength, permeability, and freeze-thaw resistance are added according to the application. Ambient temperature and humidity in the tunnel and mine must also be recorded.
The result that the system used in GECEDRAL ABE has the targeted performance can only be given through the final product standard and project specifications. Fast socket performance and long-term durability are different concepts.

CONTROL VARIABLES IN PROCESS DESIGN

Scanning only the OVERNIGHT ABE dosage in the trial plan may be useful for initial material comparisons. However, if the cement and water ratio does not change, the benefit of the dosage increase may be limited after a certain point. Therefore, in the second stage, variables such as plasticizer, aggregate moisture or cement type are added in a controlled manner.
Scale and media variation is important in transferring laboratory results to the field. The setting time seen in the small sample in the laboratory may not be the same as the nozzle conditions, air pressure, and layer thickness in the field. Overnight ABE trials should be validated with real equipment if possible.
Process monitoring methods include setting time measurement, nozzle pressure recording, accelerator consumption, material temperature, and splashback tracking. A good trial record documents the GECEDRAL ABE batch number, cement batch, aggregate moisture, water quantity, and measurement date.
In the reproducibility assessment, the control sample without the accelerator should be included in each trial series. When comparing different accelerators, it makes more sense to normalize not only to the nominal percentage, but to the dosage required to achieve the same setting time target.

RAW MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY AND FORMULATION LIMITS

Components such as cement, aggregate, silica fume, plasticizer, and fiber used with GECEDRAL ABE change the accelerator effectiveness. The aluminate and alkali content in the cement, the mineral additives used, and the type of superplasticizer directly affect the results. For this reason, it is preferable to keep the other components constant in comparisons.
If there is a risk of alkali-silica reaction in the aggregate, the use of alkali-intruding accelerators such as GECEDRAL ABE requires special attention. Alkali-free alternatives or low-alkaline cement can be considered in such projects.
When mixed with ingredients such as alkaline carbonate and rock flour, the effect and powder behavior change. It is misleading to present this effect as the sole feature of GECEDRAL ABE. The proportions and incompatibility information of all ingredients used in the mixture should be examined together.
GECEDRAL ABE used as an accelerator can affect the color, surface appearance and white salt tendency of concrete. These effects should be evaluated separately on visible concrete surfaces. Alkali and chloride content in reinforced structures should be checked for corrosion.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND REGULATORY ASSESSMENT

The environmental profile of the final shotcrete containing NIGHTDRAL ABE cannot be inferred from the accelerator name alone. The composition of the accelerator, alkali ingress, leaching behavior and interaction with groundwater should be examined together. Alkaline accelerators can raise the pH of the ambient water during washing.
The main control point in terms of workplace health is the contact of alkaline powder or solution to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract and the formation of aerosols in closed environments. For this reason, GECEDRAL ABE bag opening, weighing, mixing and spraying operations require priority risk assessment. Ventilation in tunnels and mines is also important.
For shotcrete accelerators, the relevant product standards (e.g. EN 934-5 and application standards for shotcrete admixtures) and national specifications apply in the EU. For GECEDRAL ABE, the standard conformity and CE marking status must be confirmed with the manufacturer; this may not be the same for every product in the product family.
When choosing an alternative accelerator, it is also not enough to switch to another product for the sole purpose of avoiding GECEDRAL ABE. The new product's own composition, effectiveness, worker exposure, environmental impact and regulatory status should be re-examined.

INITIAL FORMULATION APPROACHES FOR NIGHTERAL ABE

The following eight examples are conceptual laboratory initial recipes for comparing different quantities in systems with NIGHTDRAL ABA. These are not verified commercial production, no specific setting time, or strength guarantee. Each percentage of material is a percentage by weight of the final mix, and recipes are completed to 100.00%.
This section deliberately does not provide specific spray pressure, amount of water, or curing instructions. GECEDRAL ABE trials should only be conducted with competent personnel, appropriate protective gear, and risk assessment. If the content of the commercial raw materials used is different, the percentage calculation should be redone.

EXAMPLE 1: OVERNIGHT ABE LEVEL SCREENING OF DRY SHOTCRETE PREMIX

Objective: To compare the relationship of GECEDRAL ABE level with setting time, early strength and splashback in dry shotcrete premix. In the examples, dry mix components are shown as water is added in the nozzle. GECEDRAL ABE ratios were chosen to correspond to approximately 3.0%, 4.2% and 5.5% of the cement weight based on approximately 16.50% cement content.

Starting ingredients (wt%, dry mix):

CONTROL A

CEM I 42.5 cement: 16.50%

Natural sand 0–4 mm: 49.00%

Aggregate 4–8 mm: 34.50%

NIGHTWISE ABE: 0.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE B

CEM I 42.5 cement: 16.50%

Natural sand 0–4 mm: 49.00%

Aggregate 4–8 mm: 34.00%

NIGHTWISE ABE: 0.50%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE C

CEM I 42.5 cement: 16.50%

Natural sand 0–4 mm: 49.00%

Aggregate 4–8 mm: 33.80%

NIGHTWISE ABE: 0.70%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE D

CEM I 42.5 cement: 16.50%

Natural sand 0–4 mm: 49.00%

Aggregate 4–8 mm: 33.60%

OVERNIGHT ABE: 0.90%

TOTAL: 100.00%

Application approach:

The same cement batch, aggregate source and moisture level are kept constant in all samples. A control without NIGHTLY ABE is prepared. Dry mix homogeneity is recorded. Setting start and end time, early strength, 28-day strength, splashback and dust formation are examined together. The amount of water and spray conditions are determined only according to the approved process procedure and the manufacturer's TDS and SDS documents.

Note: In the recipes, only 4–8 mm aggregate ratio was reduced as NIGHTERAL ABE increased. This makes comparison easier, but it should be noted in the final interpretation that the change in aggregate ratio can also affect concrete properties.

EXAMPLE 2: OVERNIGHTDRAL ABE LEVEL SCREENING IN LIQUID ACCELERATOR SOLUTION FOR WET SPRAYING

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between GECEDRAL ABE and alkaline carbonate ratio with solubility, stability and setting effect in liquid accelerator solution used in wet spraying. The total amount of solids was kept constant (25.00%) in the samples, and the ratio between GECEDRAL ABE and sodium carbonate was changed.

Starting ingredients (% by weight, aqueous accelerator solution):

EXAMPLE A

OVERNIGHT ABE: 25.00%

Sodium carbonate: 0.00%

Water: 75.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE B

NIGHTTIME ABE: 22.50%

Sodium carbonate: 2.50%

Water: 75.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE C

OVERNIGHT ABE: 20.00%

Sodium carbonate: 5.00%

Water: 75.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE D

NIGHTWISE ABE: 17.50%

Sodium carbonate: 7.50%

Water: 75.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

Application approach:

The same batch of OVERNIGHT ABE, water quality and sodium carbonate source are used. Solution preparation order, temperature and waiting time should be the same for all samples. Solution clarity, precipitate formation, storage stability and compliance with the dosing pump are checked. The prepared solutions are added to the same concrete recipe at a constant rate and the setting time and early strength are compared. Solubility limit and storage conditions should be confirmed from the manufacturer.

Note: As NIGHTRAL ABE increases in prescriptions, only the sodium carbonate ratio is reduced. If different alkaline carbonate (e.g. potassium carbonate) is used, percentage calculation and product selection should be redone as solubility and effect will change.

GECEDRAL ABE ALTERNATIVES AND COMPARISON

In the selection of alternatives, not only price and setting time; alkali content, long-term durability, worker safety, pump and equipment compatibility, storage stability and project specifications should be evaluated. Direct replacement of accelerators with the same weight may not maintain the expected setting and strength behavior.

NIGHTERAL ABE AND ALKALINE-FREE LIQUID ACCELERATORS

Aluminum sulfate-based alkali-free liquid accelerators (e.g. GECEDRAL F series of the same manufacturer) are widely used in tunneling and underground works. They have a low pH, provide advantages in terms of worker safety and generally reduce long-term strength less.
Since GECEDRAL ABE is alkaline and solid, it offers the advantage of being applied as a powder in dry spraying. Alkali-free liquid accelerators are mostly suitable for wet spraying and are dosed with a pump. The selection should be made according to the method, safety and durability objectives.

NIGHTERAL ABE AND SODIUM SILICATE BASED ACCELERATORS

Sodium silicate (water glass) based accelerators are alkaline liquid accelerators used in wet spraying. It is generally used in higher dosages and may affect long-term durability due to alkali input.
GECEDRAL ABE is considered as an aluminate-based alkaline system that can be effective at lower dosages. Sodium silicate, on the other hand, can provide advantages in terms of cost and ease of supply. The comparison should be made with the same setting target and the same cement.

GECEDRAL ABE AND SODIUM ALUMINATE / ALKALINE CARBONATES

Sodium aluminate and alkaline carbonates are classic alkaline accelerating ingredients and are often used together. They can set very quickly, but require careful handling due to alkali ingress and corrosive character.
GECEDRAL ABE is also a product that can be mixed with alkaline carbonates. Offering it as a ready-made formulation can provide advantages in terms of dosage consistency and easy handling. Mixing individual ingredients provides flexibility but may complicate quality control.

GECEDRAL ABE AND CALCIUM ALUMINATE / SULFOALUMINATE BASED ACCELERATORS

Calcium aluminate and sulfoaluminate-based admixtures are used in cement systems to provide early strength and rapid setting. Their effects depend on the balance of cement and sulfate.
GECEDRAL ABE can have a faster and more direct effect as a soluble alkaline accelerator. Calcium aluminate based systems can offer more controlled development with lower alkali input. The choice should be made according to the target socket profile and long-term endurance expectation.

QUALITY CONTROL AND PURCHASING CRITERIA FOR GECEDRAL ABE

Product name and trade class (GECEDRAL ABE or GECEDRAL ABE-R); manufacturer; composition information; appearance; color; grain size; moisture; solubility; pH (at specified concentration); alkali content; storage stability; suitable packaging; SDS; TDS; COA; REACH registrations and standard conformity documents, if any, should be requested prior to purchase.
When necessary, setting time, early and 28-day strength, dissolution and solution stability tests are performed with the target cement. It should not be assumed that the dosage value specified in the manufacturer's sheet will be realized in the same way in the cement and concrete recipe used.
Just because two accelerators are equally priced does not mean they provide equal economic value. The dosage, splashback, dust generation, safe handling, and long-term durability required to reach the target setting time all affect the total cost.

STORAGE AND HANDLING OF GECEDRAL ABE

GECEDRAL ABE should be stored in cool, dry, well-ventilated and closed packaging under the conditions recommended by the manufacturer. It should be protected from moisture, contact with water, acids and contamination. Opened packages should be tightly closed.
When the product comes into contact with moisture and carbon dioxide in the air, it may clump and its effectiveness may decrease over time. The product should be rechecked in packages that have been waiting for a long time or left open. Alkaline products should be stored separately from acids and sensitive materials such as aluminum.
Transport classification and labeling information must be verified against the current SDS of commercial grade. Material labels, shipping information and storage compliance must be confirmed from the current SDS. Dust generation must be minimized during spillage and bag opening operations.

GECEDRAL ABE SAFETY INFORMATION

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline powder product. It should be worked assuming that irritation or burns may occur in contact with skin and eyes, and respiratory irritation may occur when inhaling the dust. Local suction, closed transfer, appropriate particle filtration and personal protective equipment selected according to current SDS are important in handling.
Dust should not be lifted into the air by dry sweeping. When the product comes into contact with water, an alkaline solution is formed; splashing and skin contact should be avoided. An eyewash station and first aid arrangements should be available in the work area.
Personnel training and exposure management should not be reduced to the use of PPE alone. The percentages shown on prescriptions do not in themselves constitute a condition for safe handling.
Classification, labelling and REACH information for GECEDRAL ABE must be verified against the current SDS document of the supplied product. Being available for general technical use does not mean that there are unlimited permits in all product categories.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING GECEDRAL ABE?

The purchase request should specify the full product name, target cement type, spraying method (dry or wet), desired setting time and early strength, temperature conditions and usage amount. It should be asked clearly whether the product is GECEDRAL ABE or GECEDRAL ABE-R.
Specific alkali content, solubility, moisture, particle size, storage period and safety classification should be requested. Transportation requirements, shipment quantity and packaging type should also be evaluated.
If a new supplier product is to be used instead of an existing accelerator, it is not correct to rely on the same percentage of use. Commercial sample comparison should be carried out on the same setting time target or defined performance target. Process and concrete quality should be checked separately.

GECEDRAL ABE SUPPLY FROM ATAMAN KIMYA

GECEDRAL ABE – TECHNICAL SUMMARY

GECEDRAL ABE is an alkaline solid setting accelerator offered by ALUCOM AG used in cement binder systems. It can be used as a powder in dry spraying and as a liquid accelerator alone or in combination with alkaline carbonate by dissolving in water in wet spraying. It is used for fast adhesion and early strength gain in tunnel, mine, slope stabilization and repair applications.
The actual performance of GECEDRAL ABE is determined by the type of cement, water/cement ratio, temperature, aggregate moisture, dosage and application method. Long-term strength, alkali-aggregate reaction and white salt tendency due to alkali ingress should be evaluated separately.
Due to its alkaline powder feature, occupational health, dust control, moisture protection and handling in accordance with current SDS are essential. Standard compliance, CE status and final product requirements must be verified on an application basis.
Notification of the target cement and method, desired setting time, packaging and TDS, SDS, COA documents in the supply request from Ataman Kimya will facilitate appropriate product evaluation.
