GLOBALPRENE 1485

GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a thermoplastic elastomer in the styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer class with oil-expanded radial structure offered by LCY Chemical (LCY Group). It combines rubber-like elasticity with thermoplastic machinability. It is a grade recommended for shoe sole compounding and plastic modification.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a water-insoluble, odorless, and reprocessable polymer. Manufacturer data highlights its high strength, low viscosity, high tensile strength, and low-temperature properties. It behaves like vulcanized rubber but does not require vulcanization; therefore, it can be processed by thermoplastic methods such as injection, extrusion, and molding.
In the manufacturer's table for GLOBALPRENE 1485, the structure is radial, the bound styrene content is approximately 32% (butadiene/styrene ratio is approximately 68/32), and the form is given as pellets. Since the product is expanded with oil, it is suitable for preparing soft and low-hardness compounds. Detailed values such as oil content, MFR, and hardness should be verified from the current TDS document.
Process suitability for GLOBALPRENE 1485 is determined not only by the amount of polymer. The polystyrene in the compound, additional oil, filler, temperature profile, shear, cooling rate and mold conditions together determine hardness, wear, surface finish and mechanical properties. Excessive temperature or long waiting can cause degradation and discoloration in the butadiene phase.
In terms of safety and environment, GLOBALPRENE 1485 is generally treated as a low-hazard polymer pellet; however, steam and fumes may be generated during melt processing, fine powders can be flammable. The manufacturer provides compliance information to chemical inventories such as TSCA, DSL, REACH, AICS, NZIoC, KECL, ENCS, PICCS, IECSC, and ECSI. Up-to-date SDS and product documentation should be checked before purchase.

WHAT IS GLOBALPRENE 1485?

GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a (radial) block copolymer with polystyrene blocks at the ends, a polybutadiene block in the middle, and multiple arms. The polystyrene phase is hard and glassy at room temperature, while the polybutadiene phase is soft and rubbery. The combination of these two phases gives the product elastomeric behavior.
When GLOBALPRENE 1485 is heated, the polystyrene phase softens and the material becomes fluid; when cooled, the structure is regenerated. This reversible structure ensures that the product can be used without vulcanization and that the residues can be reprocessed.
Since GLOBALPRENE 1485 is an oil-extended grade, there is process oil between the polymer chains. This structure reduces viscosity, reduces hardness and facilitates processing. Softer and more economical compounds can be prepared compared to oil-free (dry) grades.
The term GLOBALPRENE 1485 describes a specific commercial product; grades such as GLOBALPRENE 1475, GLOBALPRENE 1484 and GLOBALPRENE 1546 in the same LCY family are different in structure, styrene content and application. When choosing a product, one should look at the TDS values of the grade and the target application, not just the name of the family.

CHEMICAL STRUCTURE AND MOLECULAR PROPERTIES OF GLOBALPRENE 1485

GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a radial block copolymer consisting of a combination of polystyrene end blocks and polybutadiene middle blocks. In a radial structure, multiple polybutadiene arms emerge from a central point and carry polystyrene blocks at their ends. This structure can provide higher strength and lower melt viscosity compared to linear SBS.
Polystyrene and polybutadiene blocks do not mix with each other; as a result, microphase separation occurs. The hard polystyrene regions act as physical cross-linking points, while the butadiene phase forms the flexible network structure. For GLOBALPRENE 1485, this structure dissolves reversibly when heated.
The process oil in the GLOBALPRENE 1485 structure swells in the butadiene phase and increases the mobility of the chains. This reduces hardness and improves flow. Excess oil can settle on the surface; therefore, the amount of oil and its compatibility should be carefully controlled.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 contains double bonds in the butadiene phase. These double bonds are sensitive to heat, oxygen, ozone and UV light. Its resistance to weather conditions is more limited than hydrogenated SEBS grades; therefore, the use of antioxidants and, if necessary, UV stabilizers is important in compounds.

Oil content, volatile matter and ash values should be checked for product quality and processing behavior.

HOW DOES GLOBALPRENE 1485 WORK AT THE MOLECULAR LEVEL?

The elastomeric behavior is that three processes occur together: polystyrene blocks forming rigid regions, butadiene joint blocks providing flexible network structure, and reversible physical crosslinking due to the microphase separation of these two phases. GLOBALPRENE 1485 behaves like vulcanized rubber by this mechanism.
In the molten state, the polystyrene phase softens and the chains move; therefore, GLOBALPRENE 1485 can be processed by injection, extrusion and molding. During cooling, the polystyrene regions harden again and the structure is frozen. The cooling rate and mold temperature affect the surface finish and internal stress.
In plastic modification, GLOBALPRENE 1485 can help absorb impact energy by forming dispersed elastomer phase in matrices such as polyethylene or polypropylene. Effectiveness depends on compatibility with the matrix, dispersion quality, and particle size.
In shoe sole compounds, GLOBALPRENE 1485 together with polystyrene, oil and filler form a flexible and workable structure. The hardness, wear resistance and sliding properties of the compound are adjusted according to the ratio of the components.

CLASSIFICATION OF STYRENE BLOCK COPOLYMER SYSTEMS

Styrenic block copolymers are divided into SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene), SIS (styrene-isoprene-styrene), SEBS (hydrogenated butadiene), and SEPS (hydrogenated isoprene) groups in the main frame. Their structure can be linear or radial; they can also be offered as oil-expanded (OE) or oil-free (NOE).
GLOBALPRENE 1485 is in the butadiene-based, radial and oil-expanded SBS group. It is more economical than hydrogenated SEBS grades, but its heat, UV and ozone resistance is more limited. Compared to linear SBS grades, the radial structure can offer lower viscosity and higher strength.
The same brand family includes radial oil grades such as GLOBALPRENE 1475 and GLOBALPRENE 1484, linear oil-free grades such as GLOBALPRENE 3546 and SEBS grades such as GLOBALPRENE 7551. It is not correct to use these grades interchangeably with the same ratio.

IN WHICH SECTORS IS GLOBALPRENE 1485 USED?

Shoe soles and thermoplastic rubber (TPR) compounds; slippers and sandals; modification of plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene; technical rubber-like parts and elastomer compounds are the main areas of evaluation.
Usage is not carried out in the same way in every application. While hardness, abrasion, flexibility and color come to the fore in shoe soles, impact resistance and low temperature behavior gain importance in plastic modification.
In the footwear industry, GLOBALPRENE 1485 compounds must also be verified for compliance with skin contact, chemical restrictions and product standards. The fact that the product is elastomeric is not in itself evidence of mechanical, fire or regulatory compliance.

SHOE SOLE AND TPR COMPOUND APPLICATIONS

In shoe sole compounds, GLOBALPRENE 1485 is used in combination with polystyrene, process oil, filler and auxiliary additives. The polymer is expanded with oil, making it easier to prepare soft and flexible insole compounds. The hardness of the compound is adjusted according to the ratio of polymer, polystyrene, oil and filler.
As the amount of GLOBALPRENE 1485 increases, the compound generally becomes more flexible and elastic; however, very high ratios must be evaluated in terms of weight, mold filling and cost. An increase in polystyrene can increase stiffness and rigidity while reducing slip and flexibility.
Calcium carbonate is widely used as a filler. As the amount of filler increases, the cost decreases, but wear resistance, tensile strength and surface quality may be affected. Additional process oil reduces hardness; however, excessive oil can cause perspiration and adhesion problems on the surface.
Wear, bending fatigue, breaking strength, slip resistance and permanent deformation should be measured on the sole of the shoe. For compounds containing GLOBALPRENE 1485, these properties should be verified according to the condition of use of the product.

PLASTIC MODIFICATION APPLICATIONS

In plastics modification, GLOBALPRENE 1485 is evaluated to increase impact strength and flexibility properties in matrices such as polyethylene (LDPE, HDPE) and polypropylene. The manufacturer states that the product is suitable for plastic modification.
Compatibility with the matrix is critical. Since the SBS structure includes butadiene and styrene phases, its compatibility with polyolefins may be limited. Dispersion quality, phase morphology, and interface interaction for GLOBALPRENE 1485 should be confirmed by trials. A compatibilizer can be used if necessary.
As the amount of GLOBALPRENE 1485 increases, impact strength and flexibility may increase, but hardness, modulus and heat resistance may decrease. This balance should be determined according to the requirements of the application. Oil migration to the surface due to oil content should also be taken into account.
Due to the butadiene phase's susceptibility to heat and oxidation, the use of GLOBALPRENE 1485 in polyolefin systems processed at high temperature must be carefully considered. The antioxidant package and processing temperature are decisive.

TECHNICAL COMPOUNDS, ADHESIVES AND OTHER APPLICATIONS

Styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymers are generally used in thermoplastic elastomer compounds, adhesive and sealant formulations, and bitumen modification. For GLOBALPRENE 1485, the manufacturer's featured areas are shoe compounding and plastic modification; suitability in other areas should be tested separately.
In technical compounds, GLOBALPRENE 1485 can be evaluated when flexibility, softness and easy machinability are targeted. However, hydrogenated alternatives may be more suitable for outdoor applications where heat, UV and ozone resistance is required.
Mechanical requirements vary by application. The softer and more flexible structure can improve impact absorption in some cases and reduce abrasion and tensile strength in others. Therefore, the goal for GLOBALPRENE 1485 is not just maximum softness.
Oil compatibility, oil migration to the surface and long-term aging behavior should also be monitored in compounds using GLOBALPRENE 1485.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FLOW, HARDNESS AND OIL CONTENT

The melt flow rate (MFR) determines the processability of the polymer. It should not be assumed that only the product with the highest flow will give the best result. The MFR value for GLOBALPRENE 1485 should be taken from TDS together with the measurement temperature and load and evaluated according to the machine to be used.
The hardness depends on the oil content, styrene content and compound composition of the polymer. GLOBALPRENE 1485 is suitable for preparing soft compounds as it is expanded with oil. The amount of added oil, polystyrene and filler directly changes the hardness.
Oil content is important in terms of hardness, flow and economy. However, excess oil can migrate to the surface and cause stickiness and perspiration. The total amount of oil (in the polymer and added) in the compounds used with GLOBALPRENE 1485 should be calculated together.
Styrene content affects strength and hardness. High styrene content gives a harder and stronger structure, while low styrene content provides a more flexible and soft structure. For GLOBALPRENE 1485, approximately 32% styrene content should be evaluated within the framework of this balance.

IS GLOBALPRENE 1485 USED IN FOOD, COSMETICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS?

GLOBALPRENE 1485 is an industrial polymer recommended for shoe compounding and plastic modification. It is not a product defined for use in food, cosmetics or pharmaceutical formulations and is not recommended for these areas.
In the case of food contact applications, the conformity of GLOBALPRENE 1485 according to the relevant legislation must be confirmed from the manufacturer. A general technical data sheet alone does not prove food contact suitability. Process oil and additives should also be evaluated.
For products that come into contact with the skin for a long time (shoes, toys, care product parts), the compliance of the final compound with chemical restrictions and product standards must also be verified. For GLOBALPRENE 1485, these documents must be requested from the manufacturer.

PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

The main parameters are: GLOBALPRENE 1485 ratio, polystyrene ratio, additional process oil, filler type and quantity, antioxidant package, processing temperature, shear, cooling rate and mold conditions.
The properties to be measured in the target compound are: hardness (Shore A), MFR, tensile strength, elongation at break, tear strength, wear loss, permanent deformation, bending fatigue, density, surface appearance and aging behavior.
In comparative samples, mass, sample geometry, processing temperature, dwell time and conditioning conditions should be standardized. The effect of GLOBALPRENE 1485 should not be explained only by the difference in proportion between samples produced in different process windows.

WHAT PROBLEMS CAN GLOBALPRENE 1485 SOLVE?

Base compound is very hard: GLOBALPRENE 1485 can make it easier to prepare soft compounds thanks to its oil-enlarged structure.

Poor flow of compound: Low viscosity radial structure can help improve machinability.

Plastic is brittle and has low impact resistance: GLOBALPRENE 1485 can contribute to increasing impact resistance in plastic modification.

Have low-temperature hardening and cracking: SBS-based elastomer can improve low-temperature properties.

The compound cannot be colored or color matching is difficult: According to the manufacturer, it offers an easy-to-color structure.

Production surplus cannot be utilized: Thanks to its reprocessable structure, residues can be recovered to a certain extent.

The vulcanization process creates problems: It provides rubber-like behavior without vulcanization.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN USING GLOBALPRENE 1485

Since GLOBALPRENE 1485 contains double bonds in the butadiene phase, it is sensitive to heat, oxygen, ozone and UV. Prolonged soaking at high temperatures can lead to yellow color, degradation and loss of properties. It is important to limit the use of antioxidants and processing time.
The product is offered in pellets; however, fine particles and dust generated during transportation can be flammable. Static electricity, dust accumulation and heat sources should be avoided; dust should not be lifted into the air by dry sweeping.
Steam and smoke may be emitted during melt processing. Ventilation of the process should be ensured and contact with hot melt should not be avoided. Temperature resistance and compatibility of all components in the recipe should be verified.
Because GLOBALPRENE 1485 is expanded with oil, oil migration to the surface can be seen with added oil and other ingredients. Decomposing powder may be present on the pellet surface; its effect on the die, equipment and color must be checked. Elastomeric construction is not in itself proof of fire, chemical resistance or regulatory compliance.

HARDNESS, MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND TESTING APPROACHES

Hardness is the primary performance indicator in most applications; however, it is not sufficient on its own. Compounds containing GLOBALPRENE 1485 are measured with Shore A and the measurement time, sample thickness and temperature must be kept constant. Two compounds of the same hardness may exhibit different wear or flexibility.
Tensile strength, elongation at break and tear strength are measured with standard samples. Wear loss, bending fatigue, slip resistance and permanent deformation of the sole of the shoe are examined according to the application requirement. In plastic modification, Izod or Charpy impact strength, tensile and bending properties are compared.
Phase morphology and dispersion quality can be examined with a microscope. Surface appearance, fat migration, color change and post-aging characteristics should be recorded together. Only a representative good sample should not be selected, but more than one sample should be evaluated.
The conclusion that the system using GLOBALPRENE 1485 has the targeted performance can only be given through the final product standard. Mechanical properties and fire, chemical resistance or regulatory compliance are different concepts.

CONTROL VARIABLES IN PROCESS DESIGN

Scanning only the GLOBALPRENE 1485 ratio in the trial plan may be useful for initial material comparisons. However, if the polystyrene and oil ratio does not change, the benefit of polymer increase may be limited after a certain point. For this reason, variables such as polystyrene, additional oil and filler are added to the experimental design in a controlled manner in the second stage.
Scale variation is important in transferring laboratory results to production. The dispersion and shear provided in the small mix may not be representative of the conditions in the large extruder or injection machine. The temperature profile, screw design, and dwell time for GLOBALPRENE 1485 should be verified separately.
Process monitoring methods include torque, pressure, melt temperature, MFR, and part size tracking. A good trial record documents the GLOBALPRENE 1485 batch number, raw material batches, mix mass, dwell time, and measurement date.
In the reproducibility assessment, the control sample should be included in each trial series. When comparing different elastomer grades, it makes more sense to normalize not only to the nominal percentage, but also to the amount required for the same hardness or the same performance target.

RAW MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY AND FORMULATION LIMITS

The share of polystyrene, process oil, filler, EVA and other polymers used with GLOBALPRENE 1485 determines the result of the compound. Polystyrene adds hardness and rigidity, oil provides softness and flow, mineral filler reduces cost. For this reason, it is preferable to keep the proportions of other components constant in comparisons.
Paraffinic or white mineral oils are usually used as process oils. The oil type must be compatible with the polymer; incompatible oils may migrate to the surface. The oil content of GLOBALPRENE 1485 itself must be included in the additional oil calculation.
Compatibility with polyethylene and polypropylene is limited; phase separation, difficulty in dispersion, and surface problems may be seen in these systems. The effect of GLOBALPRENE 1485 in these matrices should be validated by trials. The use of compatibilizers can be evaluated.
The choice of antioxidant, UV stabilizer and pigment is important in GLOBALPRENE 1485 compounds. Appropriate antioxidant package is required to maintain the butadiene phase. Yellowing and color stability should be checked separately for light-colored products.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND REGULATORY ASSESSMENT

The environmental profile of the final product containing GLOBALPRENE 1485 cannot be deduced from the name of the polymer alone. The oil, filler, additives and end of use of the product in the compound should be examined together. Thanks to the thermoplastic structure, production residues can be reprocessed; however, the number of reworks and the degradation effect must be monitored.
The main control points in terms of workplace health are steam and smoke and fine dust formation during melt processing. Ventilation and dust control should be provided in GLOBALPRENE 1485 feeding, mixing and processing operations. Contact with hot surfaces and melt should be prevented.
The manufacturer states that the product complies with TSCA, DSL, REACH, AICS, NZIoC, KECL, ENCS, PICCS, IECSC, and ECSI inventories. However, up-to-date documentation should be requested, as compliance status may vary by product version and region. For shoes, toys, or skin-contact products, a generic TDS is not sufficient; final product standards and substance restrictions should be investigated separately.
When choosing an alternative elastomer, it is also not enough to switch to another product for the sole purpose of avoiding GLOBALPRENE 1485. The new product's own composition, performance, worker exposure and regulatory status should be re-examined.

INITIAL FORMULATION APPROACHES FOR GLOBALPRENE 1485

The following eight examples are conceptual laboratory initial recipes for the comparison of different quantities in systems containing GLOBALPRENE 1485. These are not a verified guarantee of commercial production, specific hardness or mechanical value. Each percentage of material is a percentage by weight of the final mixture, and recipes are completed to 100.00%.
This section intentionally does not provide specific processing temperature, screw speed, or molding instructions. GLOBALPRENE 1485 trials should only be conducted with competent personnel, proper ventilation, and risk assessment. If the content of the commercial raw materials used is different, the percentage calculation should be redone.

General purpose polystyrene: 12.00%

Paraffinic white mineral oil (additional): 10.00%

Calcium carbonate: 30.00%

Stearic acid: 0.50%

Antioxidant packet: 0.50%

Pigment masterbatch: 2.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

Application approach:

The same batch of GLOBALPRENE 1485, polystyrene, oil and filler welding is kept constant in all samples. Mixture homogeneity and effective additive level are recorded. Hardness (Shore A), MFR, tensile and tear strength, wear loss, permanent deformation and surface appearance are examined together. Mix and molding conditions are selected only according to the approved risk assessment and the manufacturer's TDS and SDS documents.

Note: As GLOBALPRENE 1485 increases in the recipes, only the proportion of calcium carbonate has been reduced. This makes comparison easier, but it should be noted in the result interpretation that the variation in the filling ratio can also affect the mechanical properties. Since GLOBALPRENE 1485 contains its own fat, the total fat ratio must be calculated separately.

EXAMPLE 2: GLOBALPRENE 1485 LEVEL SCAN IN POLYPROPYLENE MODIFICATION

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the ratio of GLOBALPRENE 1485 and impact strength, flexibility and dispersion quality in polypropylene matrix. In the samples, only the proportion of polypropylene was decreased as GLOBALPRENE 1485 increased.

GLOBALPRENE 1485: 10.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

EXAMPLE D

Polypropylene block copolymer: 79.70%

Talc: 5.00%

Antioxidant packet: 0.30%

GLOBALPRENE 1485: 15.00%

TOTAL: 100.00%

Application approach:

The same polypropylene grade, talc and antioxidant source are used. The control sample does not contain GLOBALPRENE 1485. Dispersion quality, impact strength, modulus, yield stress, elongation at break and surface appearance are compared under appropriate safety conditions. The same geometry and recording system are used. Processing temperatures are selected only according to manufacturer TDS, SDS and process risk analysis.

Note: As GLOBALPRENE 1485 increased in the recipes, only the polypropylene ratio was reduced. Since the compatibility of SBS-based elastomer with polypropylene may be limited, if phase separation and oil migration are observed, the choice of compatibilizer or different grade should be re-evaluated.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 ALTERNATIVES AND COMPARISON

In the selection of alternatives, not only price and hardness; structure (radial or linear), oil content, styrene ratio, heat and UV resistance, processability, target application and final product legislation should be evaluated. Direct replacement of elastomers with the same ratio may not maintain the expected hardness and mechanical behavior.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 AND OTHER RADIAL OIL GRADES IN THE SAME FAMILY

Radial oil SBS grades in the same family, such as GLOBALPRENE 1475 and GLOBALPRENE 1484, are similar; however, the styrene content, oil content and viscosity values are different. For example, for GLOBALPRENE 1475, the manufacturer's data states a styrene content of approximately 40%.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 may offer a softer and more flexible structure due to its lower styrene content. Higher styrene grades may be suitable for harder and more robust compounds. The choice should be based on the target hardness and mechanical properties.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 AND LINEAR OIL-FREE SBS GRADES

Linear and oil-free (dry) SBS grades, such as GLOBALPRENE 3546, offer formulation flexibility with added oil and may be suitable for transparent compounds. Because they do not contain oil, the cost of polymers may be higher per unit weight.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 is expanded with oil, providing a ready-made solution for soft compounds and streamlining the oil mixing step. In contrast, oil-free grades provide greater control over the type and amount of oil.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 AND SEBS GRADES

Hydrogenated SEBS grades such as GLOBALPRENE 7551 provide significant advantages in terms of heat, UV and ozone resistance as they do not have butadiene double bonds. It is preferred in outdoor, automotive and long-life applications.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a more economical option and is common in cost-sensitive applications like shoe soles. SEBS, on the other hand, is more expensive and the processing conditions are different. The choice should be based on lifespan, cost, and environmental conditions.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 AND VULCANIZED RUBBER / SBR

Vulcanized natural rubber or SBR-based soles offer high wear and elasticity, but have disadvantages such as the vulcanization phase, long cycle times and the inability to recover residues.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 exhibits rubber-like behavior without the need for vulcanization and allows residues to be reprocessed. In contrast, vulcanized rubber may be superior in some high-wear applications. The comparison should be made on the same performance target.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 AND EVA / PVC / TPU

EVA, plasticized PVC, and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) are other common materials used in shoe soles. EVA provides lightness and comfort, PVC provides cost and machinability, and TPU provides abrasion and strength.
GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a suitable option for flexible, soft and reworkable TPR compounds. However, other materials may be more suitable for designs that require lightness, high abrasion or chemical resistance. The total product and process cost should be considered together.

QUALITY CONTROL AND PURCHASING CRITERIA FOR GLOBALPRENE 1485

Product name and grade; manufacturer; structure (radial) and expanded with oil; bound styrene content; oil content; MFR and measurement condition; hardness; density; volatile matter; ash; appearance; pellet size; separator powder type; suitable packaging; SDS; TDS; COA; REACH and relevant inventory records should be requested prior to purchase.
When necessary, hardness, MFR, tensile, wear and aging tests are performed on the target compound. It should not be assumed that the values specified in the manufacturer's sheet will actually be the same in the compound used.
Just because two elastomer products are equally priced does not mean they provide equal economic value. Oil content, processability, scrap rate, color stability and process efficiency all affect the total cost.

STORAGE AND HANDLING OF GLOBALPRENE 1485

GLOBALPRENE 1485 should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated sealed package under the conditions recommended by the manufacturer. It should be protected from direct sunlight, heat sources, moisture and contamination. Opened packages should be closed.
Heat and light should be avoided in long-term storage as the butadiene phase is susceptible to oxidation. Stack height and temperature should be controlled to prevent pellets from sticking together. As a flammable solid, fire safety precautions should be taken.
Transport classification and labelling information should be verified against the current SDS of commercial grade. Material labels, shipping information and storage compliance should be confirmed from the current SDS. Spilled pellets should be collected immediately as they may pose a risk of slipping on the floor.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 SAFETY INFORMATION

GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a low-hazard product in pellets under normal conditions. Dust generation should be minimized in handling, and appropriate dust filtration and personal protective equipment should be used if necessary. Static electricity and heat sources should be controlled due to the risk of combustible dust.
Inhalation of steam and fumes generated during molten processing should be prevented. Local suction and process ventilation should be provided. Hot molten can cause burns on the skin; appropriate gloves and protective clothing should be used.
Personnel training and exposure management should not be reduced to the use of PPE alone. The percentages shown on prescriptions do not in themselves constitute a condition for safe handling.
The classification, labelling and REACH information for GLOBALPRENE 1485 must be verified against the current SDS document of the supplied product. Being available for general technical use does not mean that there are unlimited permits in all product categories.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING GLOBALPRENE 1485?

The purchase request must state the exact product name, target application (shoe sole, plastic modification), desired hardness and flow, current process method and required documentation. It should be clearly asked whether the product is radial and oil-expanded GLOBALPRENE 1485.
Specific styrene content, oil content, MFR, hardness, pellet form, packaging, and safety classification should be requested. Transportation conditions, shipment quantity, and storage requirements should also be evaluated.
If a new supplier product is to be used instead of an existing elastomer, it is not correct to rely on the same percentage of use. Commercial sample comparison should be carried out on the same hardness target or defined performance target. Process and product quality should be checked separately.

GLOBALPRENE 1485 – TECHNICAL SUMMARY

GLOBALPRENE 1485 is a radial-structured, oil-expanded styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer offered by LCY Chemical. The product is offered with approximately 32% bonded styrene content and pellet form; It is known for its high strength, low viscosity, reworkability and easy coloring properties. Recommended for shoe compounding and plastic modification.
The actual performance of GLOBALPRENE 1485 is determined by polystyrene, added oil, filler, processing temperature, and molding conditions. Due to the butadiene phase, heat, UV, and ozone resistance is limited; the use of antioxidants and proper storage are important.
Due to the risk of flammable dust and molten vapors, occupational health, ventilation and handling in accordance with the current SDS are essential. Product inventory compliance, skin contact and final product requirements should be verified on a per-application basis.
Notification of target application, desired hardness and flow, packaging and TDS, SDS, COA documents in the supply request from Ataman Kimya will facilitate appropriate product evaluation.
