Glyceryl caprylate is a multifunctional plant based ingredient for a variety of cosmetic applications.
Glyceryl caprylate possesses excellent antimicrobial efficacy, anti acne activity, skin conditioning, refatting and hydrating properties.

The world's most popular cosmetic preservation system booster. Although Glyceryl caprylate isn't a known as a preservative on it's own, it's excellent antimicrobial activity when added at 1% to 2% boosts the performance of any preservations system.

The high content of monoglyceride with free hydroxyl groups is well suited to attract and bind water molecules, which will support the hydrating properties of cosmetic products.

Glyceryl caprylate is suitable for use in the following cosmetic products

Skin Creams
Anti-acne wipes
Body Lotions
Body Washes
Deodorants
Hair Gels
Shampoo

The amphiphilic characteristic of Glyceryl caprylate promotes the absorbance of oil components to the upper layers of the skin.

This makes Glyceryl caprylate useful in skin creams as well as cleansers and body washes, providing a clean feeling whilst promoting healthy skin.

The antimicrobial properties of Glyceryl caprylate make it ideal for acne based skincare applications.

Usage Level
Glyceryl caprylate is normally used between 0.3% and 2% to achieve the refatting and antimicrobial properties.

Inci
Glyceryl caprylate

Origin Country
Germany

Method of Usage
Glyceryl caprylate can be used in emulsions, surfactant based or hydroalcoholic formulations.

Glyceryl stearate is soluble in natural oils and fats and mineral oils.
Glyceryl stearate is dispersible in an excess of water. The solid material melts at approximately 30c.

Glyceryl stearate can be easily incorporated at dosage levels between 0.3% and 2% and leads to clear formulations in surfactant based or hydroalcoholic based products.

When used in emulsions it is rarely possible that Glyceryl caprylate has an impact on the stability of the emulsion which should be checked carefully.

General Information:
Glyceryl Caprylate has an excellent efficacy against bacteria and yeast and as such makes a great preservative for skin care.
Glyceryl Caprylate works at pH between 4.5-7 and is approved for use in the EU, US and Japan. The ingredient can be added to the water phase of an emulsion where it will melt at temperatures over 30C.
Glyceryl Caprylate can be heated up to 80C without problem and is also compatible with surfactant solutios and alcohol based products. The excellent wetting ability of this ingredient can mean that emulsions are thinned somewhat so trials are recommended so that any adjustments can be made.

Formulation Note: The glyceryl caprylate works really well with our p Anisic Acid to give broad spectrum protection.

What is Glyceryl Caprylate?
A mixture of monoesters that acts as a co-emulsifier.

Use & Benefits:
Used as an emulsifier and film former. As a Film former creates a layer over the skin, which traps the moisture preventing it from escaping. This trapped moisture is beneficial for dry skin, as it’ll keep the skin hydrated for longer.
Has the ability to stabilize oil in water emulsions such as creams and lotions
Glyceryl Caprylate can also be used in acne-fighting products as Glyceryl Caprylate has antimicrobial properties against bacteria and yeast. Which also allows it to boost organic acids and preservatives.
Can be found in hair care, body lotions, and facial creams, body washes and deodorants

Its functions (INCI)
Emollient: Softens and softens the skin
Emulsifying agent: Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil)

Glyceryl caprylate is a natural emollient derived from glycerin and plant fatty acids, usually appearing as a white waxy solid.

Glyceryl caprylate is the ester of glycerine with caprylic acid. Completely plant based and Ecocert certified multi-functional ingredient for natural (and conventional) cosmetics. The antimicrobial effect of glycerin esters is known for decades. Glyceryl caprylate combines antimicrobial properties with skin conditioning and moisturizing properties of glycerin.
Glyceryl caprylate is added to both water based and oil based products as well as to emulsions.
Glyceryl caprylate has a melting point of about 30-35 degrees Celsius and could be easily melted in a water bath at low temperature and then added to the water or the oil phase. Because of the dependence of consistency on temperature, we ship this ingredient in bottles during summer and in jars during winter.

Glyceryl Caprylate is derived from Vegetable source (Rapeseed and Coconut) and is such a versatile product, it can be used as an emulsifier, preservative booster and wetting agent making it a multifunctional ingredient for a variety of personal care and cosmetic applications.

Glyceryl Caprylate is a highly purified Palm Free multifunctional ingredient with 88% minimum content of monocaprylate.
Glyceryl Caprylate is 100% palm-free and can be used in emulsions, surfactant-based or hydroalcoholic formulations.
